Arsenal FC | 2024/25 Season

What do you put it down to that it was not addressed this summer when it was clear its what was required?
Lack of player availability is a factor too. Finding quality squad players is not as easy as it sounds because top tier players want to be guaranteed starters.

Arsenal could have signed Osimhen or Gyokeres but that wasn’t going to happen because Havertz is the first choice CF.

There was genuine interest in N. Williams because it appears that he only wants Barcelona move. Chiesa is the one that got away because I thought he could have really flourished under Arteta.

It is also a failure of the scouting network because there must be a lot of hidden gems that are waiting to burst onto the scene, so you don’t always need to spend big money.

Nonetheless, it needs to be addressed next summer. Jesus should definitely be ousted from the club and Martinelli should be reduced to an impact sub.

Learn the game from people like you? No thanks. I would rather be ignorant than learn from people like you.

Learn from you? lol

Im bored of talking about this team, ill be back when you face Chelsea, should be a great match with the blues taking 3 points. :)

Poor refereeing has already cost Arsenal 6 points this season and coupled with the injuries, it is a really unlucky situation. Very depressing times.

People can call it “excuses” if they want. That is fine. However, the reality is that Arsenal’s season has hampered to uncontrollable factors such as unlucky injuries and poor refereeing.

The amount protection that City get from the referees is ridiculous. There is no way the Stones goal vs Wolves would have stood if it was an Arsenal player. Similarly, none of the three red cards would have happened if it was a City player.

2022-23: Saliba’s injury derailed the title charge because Saliba to Holding was a huge drop in quality.

2023-24: Missed out by 2 points and the referees cost Arsenal numerous points with their awful decision making mainly vs Newcastle and West Ham. Arsenal would have won the league with consistent application of rules and no protection for City.

2024-25: Shaping up to be a similar story as the previous season. Very disappointing.

Good points however in recent games especially with Odegaards absence Havertz has not been playing CF, he drifts out etc. This is why adequate back up is key. Look at Liverpool's attack. Many Many options

Liverpool’s scouting has been really good compared to Arsenal if we talk about forwards. Salah, Diaz, Jota. All of these players were attainable for Arsenal.

The excuse will be that an oddegard or saka "replacement" would not just come and join and just sit on the bench.

This is the mindset of the fan base, also probably the team set up. If you build a healthy squad with competition for places, then when injuries happen etc.. you still have cover.

Also we rightly got rid of Vieira, we let ESR go as well. Where were the replacements? If we've kept Nwaneri in squad, whys he not starting? If he's not trusted send him out on loan.

The fact the merino and trossard and even havertz have been used in that position when oddegard is injured, shows that Arteta doesn't trust Nwaneri and nor does he really have a valid plan B

Excuses, excuses, excuses.. why not just be honest and say that it's a poorly put together squad and Edu / Arteta aren't as good as you thought they were

But I though Edu was doing an amazing job? 🤔 let's not forget Artetas eye for talent? 🤔

View attachment 147204
Arteta and Edu took Arsenal from 8th to 2nd so they have clearly done an amazing job and have a really good eye for talent. You can’t turn things around in this fashion without making the right moves in the market.

We all remember what you said when they were in a bidding war with City for Rice. You thought they didn’t what it takes to pull of a big signing but they ended up bodying City in that deal. So not sure why anyone should listen to your ignorant opinions.

However, there is always room for improvement and to make things better. The next challenge would be to get rid of the two useless Brazilians and add superior attacking options.

Edu and Arteta took Arsenal from 5th to 2nd. This 8th place is nonsense, Arteta took the club backwards at 1st. So stop making out as though that was his starting point.

In regards to Rice, Arsenal once in a while make a so called marquee signing. Ozil, sanchez, partey, Rice. These are few are far between and nothing more then signings to show fake ambition, as pretty much there after these signings the kronkes revert back to type with the penny pinch and then self sustaining rubbish the kronkes have always had in place. One summer of splashing CL cash may have fooled you and others. It didn't to those who have common sense.

You know the biggest reason Arteta will fail? No accountability or Ambition from the owners. Josh kronke, Edu, Arteta, oddegard can run their mouths want all summer about Ambition, but facts are their is no accountability to failure.

If Arteta was at Real, Barca, Bayern, City he would be told he needs to win either the league or CL, these clubs would make sure if he didn't deliver he would be sacked. When a person knows their job is on the line if they fail, they soon let go of the ego, silly mistake and stop managing like its a computer game.

Arteta knows unless he doesn't make top 4, he ain't getting sacked. Trophies is a bonus if he wins them. That poor mindset through whole club is why when it comes to fine margins it fails.

If Arteta knew his balls were in a gilotine if he failed at Arsenal, we might have actually won a title by now.

That principle works in any form of employment. The more your scrutised the more likely you are to push yourself to succeed.

Arsenal was languishing at 8th when Emery was sacked. The club was rock bottom in terms of culture and connection with the fans. You had several lazy players on fat contracts.

Arteta rebuild everything piece by piece and there is no doubt that the last couple of years have been the period at the club in a very long time.

I will once again emphasize that winning FA Cup/League Cup when you are not competing in the league isn’t good enough.

Look at Ten Hag. United sacked him in spite of two cups in two seasons because he wasn’t competing for the title.

Wenger won 3 FA Cups in his last 4 years but Arsenal fans including you wanted him out because it was clear that he was unable to fight for the league.

Arteta hasn’t won any trophies in a long time but he has Arsenal fighting to win the league which is a huge step forward for Arsenal. He is the reason why Arsenal fans are dreaming of winning the league and he is the reason why finishing 2nd will feel disappointing. He raised the bar, the standards.

He took a club that got used to failure and celebrated 4th place like a trophy. He took them from that point to today where anything less than a title win feels underwhelming.

You are referencing other clubs like Real, Barca, City, Bayern etc. but you have to understand that the dynamics are different. All of these clubs have won a lot and have been very successful in recent past, so they can’t have same level of patience.

They didn’t spend 20 years without winning a league and didn’t hit rock bottom like Arsenal did. They didn’t reach a point where they started celebrating 4th place like an achievement.

At Arsenal, you can expect the club to go from that point to the top overnight. It is a process and you have to be patient and this patience with Arteta has paid dividends.

Had Arsenal showed lack of patience with Arteta, they would have gone through 3-4 different managers in the last few years and the club would be in the same spot like Chelsea and United.

Arteta is the only difference between Arsenal and Chelsea/United even though they have more financial resources than Arsenal.

As far as the Kroenkes are concerned, they have shown ambition since taking full control of the club in 2018. If they were content with a top 4, they wouldn’t have sacked Emery because they realized that a manager like Emery will not be able to take Arsenal to the top. If they lacked ambition, they wouldn’t have approved a 100m+ transfer.

If you think Arteta should be sacked at the end of the season if he doesn’t win the league this time, that is fine. It is your opinion. However, you also need to suggest realistic alternatives who can drive the club forward and take the final step that Arteta hasn’t been able to so far.

Bear in mind that if you’re replacing him now, you risk falling backwards and undoing all the work that he has done. There is a strong possibility that the next manager doesn’t have what it takes and Arsenal end up falling behind Chelsea, United, Spurs etc.

Arteta is not my relative. I’m only concerned with the success of Arsenal and if it happens with someone else instead of Arteta, I couldn’t care less.

However, I am fully invested in his approach and I have no doubt that he will take Arsenal over the line eventually. If he could take Arsenal from where they were to where they are now, he can also take them forward from this point.

The majority of the fans and also the owners are fully behind him and trust him to put the final pieces of the jigsaw together and win the PL.

You would think he is celebrating his 4th goal in a 7-0 win vs Arsenal. Such celebrations and edits to celebrate a 2-2 draw vs a heavily depleted Arsenal. Shameful.
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Exactly my thoughts. But good riddance, let him have his moment

Is this Mo Salah paying the price for celebrating Xmas? Hellfire

Nothing new for him , he’s scored more goals in an Arsenal game than half the Arsenal squad . Some genius moments from a couple of players on both sides . Anfield you’re getting smoked so enjoy this for now . Good watch

Like the last two seasons?

Game tonight. Main hope is we don't pick up any injuries to any of the starting 11 that play.

Don't care much for Carabao Cup as is low down on the list of priorities but its a trophy lift for the players.

No doubt if and when we get knocked out of it, it'll be a stick for the Arteta critics to beat him with but in all honestly i wont be gutted.

Even Pep came out to say he doesn't prioritize it . Interesting

Beautiful goal from Nwaneri. Arteta really needs to start trusting him in the PL and CL.

Arsenal v Palace next at home. Not bad for a QF fixture of a domestic cup.

- Good win last night
- Nwaneri again proving himself and getting a goal
- home draw in next round

We should be looking to beat Palace in next round. If that means January fixtures are even more congested then so be it. That's whole point of having a squad.

Pep doesn't care for league cup, yeah he's won it numerous times and when City priorities trophies and cups in a season, they don't end it empty handed. Arsenal are the "bigger fish to fry" has ended up with an 4 trophyless seasons in a row, so Arsenal ain't in position to pick and choose what's so called important. Yes Arteta needs to deliver either the PL or CL this season, but turning noses up at league cup Isn't something Arsenal can afford to do.
Also the players on fringes of team have extra games to prove their worth in squad and manager can see if he can prove he can juggle fighting on multiple fronts.

On a side note the league cup semi finals should be 1 game instead of 2, but PL clubs are refusing to provide the football league clubs at lower level with more money. So only shooting themselves in foot when it comes to fixture congestion

Winning FA/League Cup won’t make for league failure. If Arsenal finish 3rd this season without properly challenging for the title, it will be a disappointing season compared to the last two even if they win both domestic cups.

What's all the Panic from the Gooners. Its early days yet, and if anything, City's injury crisis seems to be getting worse every week , surely, both Gooners and Liverfools can take advantage of this .

Arsenal need 6 points from next two away games vs Newcastle and Chelsea.

It could posdobld be a case of get 6 points and still 4 and 5 points behind City, even if we win next two.

However it will mean that we have played spurs, villa, City, Newcastle and Chelsea all away.

Arsenal then have another 4 away London derby's this year. So the away form could keep them in the race.

The indifferent home form will need to improve massively and I'd go as far to say other then Man city at Emirates, Arsenal need to pretty much win all their remaining home games this season.

With City having injuries, no excuses can be made at Arsenal end either. This is where managers earn their billing as top dog when they going gets tough.

This season is gone. Forget about it and reset in the summer. Get rid of failures like Jesus and Martinelli and ensure that Saliba doesn’t go to Real.

Arsenal is set to face New Castle today. Expectations??? LOW??

Newcastle haven’t won in the league since mid September, when they beat Wolves . Been average this season but a win over of Chelsea mid week may give them confidence for today .

Arsenal should win this comfortably, Brighton beat castle away without too much trouble . A good time to travel to geordielamd .

Newcastle 1-3 Arsenal

A week ago you insisted Arsenal will win the premier league and now it’s a top 4 race only ?

Did you see something in the Preston performance. ? lol

The referees have an agenda against Arsenal. It was confirmed in the Liverpool game.

Van Dijk should have been sent off and Arsenal third goal should have stood.

This happened after Saliba was wrongly red card while other defenders escaped a red for the exact same situation.

Also, Arsenal have bad luck with injuries. So I am very sad and I have lost hope in this season. I will be back next season, but I think I am going to leave this thread this season. I am very sad.

Did you notice the ref making multiple bad calls against Liverpool ? Saliba was a red & all teams have injuries. Liverpool suffer every season from injuries, Arsenal one of the least hit team over last two years .

squad is thin & poor discipline is the managers fault . He’s had five years to build a second xi which can beat teams but hasn’t after been given big cash .

A win in the early sat kick off is needed. Score first & you win imo . Liverpool & city have tricky matches where lost points are possible.

A loss today & I’ll agree to be on your boat lol

Partey at RB again, White on the bench.

Whilst Partey was good last week, he needs to be in midfield

I will have no issues with Saliba getting a red card with others didn’t get away with the exact same situation. So it’s clear that there’s an agenda against Arsenal.

If Arsenal would have scored the goal Stones did v Wolves, no way it would have stood.

There is no proof of any agenda against Arsenal . We lost a clear cut pen when Arsenal handled the ball at Anfield but we accepted the draw . Excuses are too early ,it’s November

Odegaard tripped so it wasn’t a hand ball. The referee made a rare right call in favor of Arsenal.

Even last season, the refs robbed Arsenal of 4 points which would have been enough to win the league.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have a Golden chance to land the Premier league Title. City have a Major injury crisis, which I'm sure both clubs could take advantage of.

For me if Arteta doesn't grasp this opportunity, then it's time to move on.

He can’t when PGMOL clearly don’t want it to happen. The PL is now as corrupt as Serie A was at one point. This scandal will be exposed one day.

You are resorting to petty excuses here. Barely a Third of the season has past! And your waving the white flag?

Are you sure your not trolling?

IMG_9317.jpeg

Partey looked better than he is at right back , as Diaz was poor . Big call , as Partey imo was more solid in midfield than rice this season .

Keep Saka quiet & castle have a chance of a draw .

It’s John Brooks today , who was taken off VAR because he drew the line in the wrong place while checking offside lol

Referees in PL are poor but poor for all .

Newcastle need to be physical here . Send the Arsenal players to ground , make it ugly & attack later

pin point cross & a header Shearer would be proud of.

Newcastle switched as they are mainly attacking partey .

1-0

Arsenal look half asleep , need to wake up quick..
Zero control in midfield for Arsenal, with Partey at right back

Arsenal lack of cutting edge in final 3rd as well at moment

Is Havertz on the pitch ?

Arsenal would be a different danger if they had a striker who can hold the ball up & run into areas to score .

Newcastle defence is weak . Plenty of time for Arsenal but can’t concede another

The goal for this season is to finish top 4 somehow so that the chances of big players leaving are reduced and Arsenal can rebuild again for next season.

If they slip out of top 4 then there is no way the likes of Saliba will say no Real.

This season is dead.

Supposedly he's one of 10 best strikers in world according two posters in this thread.

Highest paid player at club and playing like a statue

You think Arteta should carry on?

I thought he was injured ! His physicality at the back , with partey strength in mid away at Newcastle is something most managers would crave .

Merino needs to come off for white .
Didn't even notice Merino on the pitch.

Arsenal entire midfield has been trash

Will Arteta be smart & brave to make imminent changes or arrogant believing this will work ?

I’d bring on the new kid Ethan , he at 17 has more drive & skil than most on that pitch .

Newcastle have been stronger in the 2nd half , while the opposite for Arsenal in recent matches.

A huge half for arsenal coming , title contenders or not will be sorted in 45 mins .

Nwaneri for merino

Move partey back into midfield

Let's see if this manager has any brains

Players look leggy , which is concerning with so many away games to come . Arsenal need a moment of brilliance . The kid could become legendary today , must come now now or early 2nd half

Tiredness is not an excuses, Arteta has enough time to build a squad, also rotate and keep players fresh.

Arsenal have to win this game

If Arteta doesn't take Trossard off in the next 5 mins. Then this is on him.

Move Havertz up top.

Trossard disaster class this.

Been downward trajectory for weeks tbh
Him and Merino have been useless

Again the weaking of the midfield with poor team selections is on the manager

What does nwaneri got to do to get gand time

Trossard and merino in midfield is mo different to havertz in midfield last season

Havertz upfront today has been a statue. 2 posters were calling his guy world class 🤦‍♂️
