Arsenal FC | 2024/25 Season

Last time I remember him scoring was against Man U at the Emirates.

Gabriel Jesus' target should be 5 PL goals. That's how low I think of him.
Whys anyone shocked at Jesus low scoring? It was the same at Man city. The guy has poor fitness, poor finishing. The myth that he would improve if he was made 1st choice elsewhere has been busted.

I doubt Timber will play but I hope I'm wrong.
I'm hoping the extra recovery time this week and him not playing vs shakhtar could mean he's available Sunday

At same time we have Newcastle, inter and Chelsea after aswell, so no point risking someone if they aren't fully fit and we end up with a player out for longer

Oh dear 🤡🤡 aka "Mr It's in the bag" telling others about predictions 🤣🤫

I would have rather play Lewis Myles-Skelly at LB over Zinchenko. The youngster has filled in at LB for Arsenal's U21 side.
Managers not brave enough to start LMS vs liverpool. Lack of trust as usual

Villa is not South, neither Forrest so only Chelsea I can think of winning . The two north london clubs have won nothing.

2?

Yep. The Southern clubs combined won 2 champions league wins.

And yes it was Chelsea winning the 2.

I'm surprised with the lack of success the Southern clubs have had in Europe's elite competition

Until they run into Real Madrid.

No shame in losing in finals , esp if you have been in 3 in recent years. Lets hope this Arsenal team dont run into Real in the next stage, they look very strong. But I think Arsenal will be happy if they get knocked out early with the thin squad they have.

Your next challenge is Sunday.

I predicted 1-2 and will stick with it after the European game for both teams.

Do you have one yet or still analysing Aretas charts?

Tbf the Southern clubs have never been European giants, only LFC and Utd are historically very active in Europe. In the 80's Notts and Villa did something remarkable. I still have Villa friends who insist they are a bigger team than Arsenal.

Even now it seems Emery will out do Arteta in Europe.

Notts Forest won 78-79 and 79-80 hardly 80s.

More English clubs could have won it that time if it wasn't for Liverpool fans getting England teams banned from Europe. But pool fans don't like to talk about that.....

Also I dont really care for the Northern Southern divide. I think its odd to bunch together Northern teams as they are some super power. They hate each other thats all there is to it.

I don't really care for Chelsea but to say only Man Utd and Liverpool are European giants is another bold statement that i must fact check you on.

Liverpool yes - European giants. No question

United 3 x UCL

Chelsea 2 x UCL. Hardly a massive difference to say one is a giant and the other isn't. Especially when Uniteds were 30 and 10 years apart and Chelsea's were Post 2010. Would have been 3 Chelsea and 2 United had it not been for Terry's slip penalty
( sorry I know slip is a sensitive word on merseyside)
however ifs and buts dont really work in football. But hardly a difference between the 2 except a penalty shootout.

Also Europa league Chelsea have 2 and United 1.

So I ask the question what makes United come in the conversation about European Giants and Chelsea " from the south" not?

Now I know Arsenal cant discuss the UCL as we don't come into the conversation.

As a football fan however - take a look at the format and opposition against Liverpool for the 1st 4 UCL's.

Knockout Rounds starting 32 teams. Mighty Crusaders. I think in one of the Tournaments they didn't even enter until the last 16 where they played low calibre team.

I mean nobody can take away the stars from the shirt. I would be happy with just the 1 but its always good to put context on history.

Late 70's,80's same meaning.

I doubt Arsenal would have won it without a ban.

Utd have won it in various decades historically , like Liverpool. Chelsea won 2012 and 21. I have no issues if someone wants to add them to LFC and Utd. Europa is a good cup to win , no doubt but the true glory is the European cup.

Btw I still recall the final when Arsenal had a chance to win, I was rooting for Arsenal but when Henry missed a sitter , i knew they wouldnt win. If the day ever comes when Arsenal win it, it will be arguably the greatest day in the clubs history, as it will be their first. What do you feel about your chances this year? How far can you go?

I think there are better teams with heritage that will do better than us. If we get some luck with the draw who knows but I am not deluded. There are better teams in the comp with history and know how with this competition

Fair enough... I was responding to the above comment.

Arsenal will qualify for the next stage. Arsenal will also spend money in Jan , they must. Get back in form, a couple of new fresh quality players and everyone fit, there is no reason the team cannot get to the semis. Then anything can happen.

If Arsenal dont spend in Jan, it confirms the club has no real ambition as its clear the squad lacks depth. I wrote such , early on on this thread, injuries will hit the team this year.

I remember back in school how boring I used to find history class. The way Liverpool fans go on and on about the past 😴 best cure for insomnia.

It's odd. They go on about it as though they were alive and witnessed it.

When you’ve never experienced your team seeing glory , becoming champions of Europe , in the greatest club competition, in the greatest sport it’s tough to understand.

So there’s nothing wrong hearing stories of other teams or supporters experience.

In 2005 an ok Liverpool team played one of the great European sides in history , AC Milan . At half time I stopped watching , it was a massacre & only becoming worse. When Gerrard scored , I ran back home to watch one of the greatest come back wins in football history . It’s the end game of any sports fan esp a football fan .

I feel for Arsenal fans , came so close with their greatest team . If this Arsenal team pulls off the Champions League trophy, it will be their greatest moment ever .

Won’t happen for gooners but nice story :wenger

Nice bedtime story il definitely fall asleep reading that 😴.

Even if Arsenal don't win a CL, I've seen them win a sufficient number of Trophies in my life time. My favourite Anfield 89, imagine going to the home of the champions, beating them in their own ground. Then celebrating the league title on that ground. Whilst 40,000 scousers in ground crying after being humilated, 12 million people watching on TV.

Most Liverpool fans on here have probably seen their team win the one covid league title, some might have been lucky enough to see the Premier league title been lifted at Anfield, when Blackburn won it there 🤣🤣

😂😂😂😂 Singing YNWA didn't give them super natural powers then.

Such a cringe fan base

I remember it , Michael Thomas was incredible. This is football of the top division in England, the inventors of the game .

Your points seems like youre a small club , with a major upset once in a lifetime. Lol

Arsenal are a top English club , you’ll be ecstatic a few times in your life or smirk in your case .

But until you conquer Europe , only in Jamaica they’ll wear your shirt .

What you’ve had Liverpool & Utd fans have much more , even in recent years .

There’s a reason why their home grounds are name Anfield & Old Trafford & not after an airline . Youre only flying away from the glory your rivals have faced . Spurs got to the final more recently. Lol

The biggest brands in world football, are clubs that have a history of winning. This is a fact, Manchester United, or Liverpool, are the biggest football brands in the world, because they win the top prizes.

In sport taking part is no longer an option, you have to win. Just like in F1 or Rally, when the drivers win, its the winning car that goes on to make the big bucks.

I remember Liverpool before the days of Fagan. It was a proud club like most English clubs, but after success in Europe, especially in the 80s, the club changed forever, it's now not just a proud club, but one of the biggest brands in Sports.

You play to win and in the end the trophies are the only proof of success.

Set & done in sport .

He's the Premier league GOAT.

Tell me who you think is better and I will destroy any theory bro.

Alan shearer as an individual player . No attacker scored so many goals in the premier league, in all sorts of manner opting to play for his local club .

Shearer defines English premier league as an individual player .

He wouldn’t have missed those chances in the final . Henry was more skillful with his feet

It was Kevin Keegan and Ian Rush in my time!

Peak Rush in the premier league. Ufffff.

You reckon over Henry?

No doubt . Imagine if he signed for Utd . You’d have won multiple doubles & European cups . It was only Arsenal as competition those days . He is what AI would create as the ultimate striker for English football. 260 goals is the most underrated stat

😂😂😂😂😂 I said best player not goal scorer. You really are clueless. Even @Geordie Ahmed would not say Shearer was the best premier league player ever.

Liverpool is a great football club and there is no shame in admitting that they are bigger than Arsenal. However, they also have the worst fans in the world by some distance.

They also have zero pull and attraction in contemporary football. No player prefers to play for them when they have interest from other clubs.

Imagine Liverpool going to to toe with City for Rice. City would have snapped him up with ease.

They got really lucky no one else wanted Salah in 2017. Otherwise he would have been at Arsenal/United/City now. In fact, Chelsea could have brought him back with ease from Roma if they wanted.

You said nowt , you wrote pl goat

What Henry did was incredible, a premier league goat , but the is arguable . I pick shearer for his individual, all round , true English striker ability . A goal scorer can also be the best player lol . It’s actually the hardest aspect of the sport .

Forget the past bro , make sure you have your Sunday halal chicken roast ready
.

The fire is coming to the stadium of paper planes ✈️ :salah

No thanks, I have no interest in going back to Liverpool. One of the worst places I’ve been to in the UK.

You can’t wrap your head around the fact that you can’t go from being in the dumps to winning things right away. You have to go through a process which Liverpool did under Klopp and Arsenal are doing under Arteta.

The difference is that Klopp only won 1 PL but Arteta will do it multiple times.
To be fair, the drive/train from London to Liverpool can be beautiful on the perfect day.

Your point seem likes a small club?

I've seen Arsenal win the league 5 times, which judging by your immature age is a lot more times then Liverpool have seen win it.

Yeah, I love Shearer but Henry is the Premier League goat

Although, they both along with Salah make my all time premier league eleven
Do you have 4 Liverpool players in your all time PL x1?

Seems most deluded Liverpool fans think their should be 4.

So Van dijk over ferdinand, Campbell, vidic, Terry?

Interesting
Not over Terry, he is in alongside Terry for me

This is the team I'd go with but midfield the likes of Vieira, Keane were very, very close

Schmeichel
Walker - VVD - Terry - Cole
Gerrard - Scholes - KDB
Salah - Shearer - Henry

Fair enough team to be fair except VVD, him being at his peak was over a couple of years. Other defenders have done more over longer period of time for me. Not to say VVD is rubbish before Liverpool fans start playing victims as usual.

Also one of Keane or Vieira has to be in that team if not both.

Keane? The most influential and successful Captain in the Premier league Era.

Close to mine.

Id swap Allsion for Schmeichal, because Ali can play with his feet far better.

idc if Alison can use his feet better. Schmeichel and Cech are both better keepers than Allison.

Let me guess you had TAA at right back because he can attack.

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

You're slow, I only made one change.

Next you'll be telling me Raya is better than Alison.

Why would I say that? I'm deluded like some fans.

If you think from a pure goalkeeping aspect that Allison is on same level Schmeichel and Cech then you are the one that's slow.

Same goes for VVD, they guy had a peak for 2 seasons. Terry, ferdinand, vidic, Campbell were all better over a more sustained period of time, also played against better strikers

I believe he was, better passing, crossing and shooting, those are the key technical skills I look at when judging players on a technical level
Better passing? Interesting. Does tackling not apply as a technical skill?

Tony Adams over VVD as well.

It is a technical skill tbf and Vieira is superior to Gerrard in that aspect

I should really have clarified what I meant by technical skill, the general understanding when the term is used is for offensive skills but it does include other aspects

When it comes to players I take more enjoyment watching those that have more offensive related attributes

I'd sooner watch Bergkamp play over Drogba, even though Drogba was superb

No you’re slow because I confirmed the same team barring keeper .

It’s opinion based it’s silly to argue but one thing for sure arsenal will only have Henry from the past or for probably decades to come . Not a single arsenal player right now will come close

Sunday they can prove me otherwise

Only Henry from the past? You are full of it. We've literally won more PLs than pool in last few Decades.

Tell me you are clueless about football without telling me you are clueless.

I keep smashing your statements. I'll keep doing it

Imagine hyping up players that have 1 PL title, same as Blackburn and Leicester. In the case of one player, who helped City win a title (let's not let this slip 🤭)

It's actually hilarious how in the PL era, Liverpool act like they are on a par with united, City and Chelsea.

100% spot on calling out the clueless Liverpool fans.

All of sudden because Allison can use his feet he's better then schemicel, cech and van der saar. It's hilarious.

Theirs a difference between a deluded, clueless and bias opinion and actually having an opinion on merit.
