Mamoon , Sokratis,Luiz,Mustafi, and Ozil are all out of contract at the end of the season so they are definitely gone. Kolasinac,Lacazette, and Elneny will all have 1 year left on their contract in the summer so they will either be sold or we have them for 1 more summer.

Guendouzi and Torreira will be sold to raise funds.

So a lot of incoming should be happening.

Exactly. Which is why Arteta needs to be given 2-3 windows so that he can oversee the transition and create his own squad and his own identity.

This is a dysfunctional squad with no chemistry. He has spent enough time with these player to know what type of players should they invest in.

Sacking him now and bringing a new manager will not help because he will be starting at scratch with this group.

The next 2-3 windows are going to be the most important ones for the club in the premier league era, the club has truly hit rock-bottom now. A club of Arsenal’s stature and brand value cannot sink lower than this.

It is very important to have someone at the helm who also wants a long-term project. Arteta will leave the club one day but he will oversee this period of 4-5 years if he doesn’t get sacked because he genuinely loves the club.

People clamoring for Allegri or lamenting losing out on Mourinho need to realize that they are not interested in long-term projects. They would (would have) demand a £200m kitty right away and that is not something the club can afford at this point.

If Arsenal are smart with their transfer policy, they can become a top 4 team within 3-4 seasons and have the type of resurgence Liverpool had under Klopp.

In all honesty, you can't trust this board to reach the right outcomes because Arsenal is the worst run club in the whole of the PL.

I get that our owners don't want to spend money but at the same time we need to recruit smarter.

Firstly, we have wasted in excess of £150m on Lacazette, Pepe, Xhaka and Mustafi.

Secondly, we didn't bring in Arteta because we felt that he was going to be a top manager. We opted for him because he was cheaper than someone who is proven and established. Time will tell if he will succeed but we would have been doing a lot better if we had Mourinho instead.

The bottom line is Arsenal need to stop experimenting with inexperience and washed up players and managers.

I don't trust the people in charge of recruitment but with Arteta having a say in recruitment you would have to hope he would know what a good player is. He came from City so surely he will know what players are of the required standard.

I think we hired Arteta because we genuinely believe he will be a top manager. You have to remember he was at the club for a while and did some coaching. So the club have seen him coaching. Furthermore we paid Wenger over 10 million a year for a few years. So it's a myth we wouldn't pay a top manager good money. I think Poch and Allegri didn't want to join Arsenal. It's the sad truth which some people won't accept

Well said. I agree with this. Arteta worked at City for long enough to know what a top player is and what environment breeds success.

Arsenal talked to Allegri before hiring Emery and he wasn’t interested to work with the budget that Arsenal had to offer.

People need to realize that the likes of Allegri, Pochettino, Simeone etc. are not going to waste their time at Arsenal on a small budget when they have plethora of options available.

Yes Mourinho could have said yes because he didn’t have many options at that point and it was either Spurs or Arsenal, but he would have also needed a massive budget to rebuild the squad.

The same impatient folks who are now dreaming of what Mourinho would have done at Arsenal would be asking for his head now.

Spurs have a much better squad. Arsenal don’t have anyone remotely close to the level of Kane and Son.

AFC have now received 7 red cards in 33 Premier League games under Arteta...

Will Arteta survive this?

==

Arsenal fell to their eighth Premier League defeat of the season as Everton claimed victory at Goodison Park to move up to second in the table.

Rob Holding diverted the ball into his own net after a flick-on from Dominic Calvert-Lewin to put Everton 1-0 up.

Nicolas Pepe then scored from the spot for Arsenal after Tom Davies had kicked Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the box.

But Everton defender Yerry Mina restored the Toffees' lead on the stroke of half-time with a header.

It is Arteta or the players.

These bunch of losers want him sacked but I hope the board continues to put their faith in the brilliant young manager and give him the time and funds to build his own team and create his own identity.

Nothing good will come out of sacking Arteta. The instability and mediocrity will continue.

What makes you say he is ‘brilliant.’

I agree with your other points regarding players but I don’t think Arteta has done anything to suggest him being a brilliant manager.

He hasn't even managed a team until he got the Arsenal job so it's diabolical to say that he's some second coming of Pep.

Post match Arteta says luck not on our side and after going 2-1 down we dominated the game...

Of this is really what he things then he should be sacked immediately.

There are more chances of Fireworks taking place at London Bridge and the London Eye this year instead of Arteta being sacked before 2021.

Welcome to Arsenal fc. A club that rewards loyalty to the work ethic of mediocrity.

This guy Areta is so clueless if he gets Arsenal relegated i bet you he wont even be able to bring them back to the EPL, ive never seen such a clown in football managment and have been watching football since 1994.

DT having a right meltdown on AFTV when questioned about his support for Arteta. Just hilarious seeing him turn red

Anyways Arteta is clueless. Just wearing the same clothes as Pep doesnt make him a tactician.

“We were in control”;
“We created so many chances”;
“I’m so proud of the boys” etc etc.

Arteta is like some kind of bot - he keeps on saying the same ridiculous things.

I'm sick to death of it.
It's not like we haven't been patient... it's been almost twenty years since we won the league

Chelsea at home (they will be eying easy away points).

Then two back to back away fixtures!

Maximum 3 points in the next three games. Huge opportunity for the relegation sides to pull out of it and overtake Arsenal

Another bad night for Arsenal and Arteta. Things not looking good at all.

The heat is on, will he manage to wriggle out of this situation.

They can’t get a new foreign manager in due to the covid situation. We are doomed for now.

Before the start of this season we all thought Mustafi had played his last game for us but today he came out as captain of the side...

Mesut Ozil has manipulated and overthrown 1 arsenal manager and an impending second if Arteta goes. He needs to be sold asap. Arteta is a good manager and the Ozil situation has messed up his legacy at arsenal. Nobody would tolerate mediocrity and he was right to be shunned off.

How hes frozen ozil out is also indicative of how poor a manager he is

Ozil cant make his god awful arseanl team? You are joking me

Anyway hes a dead man walking He ll be sacked within the next 2games

Thanks for coming

What was the point of buying Mari and refusing loan deals for Saliba in the summer if Mustafi was gonna play?...

What I find jokes is he turned down a contract extension lol ...yet he still plays ...

Until the Manu game i liked the pressing and how the team defended as a unit. It was also a very dominating midfield display thanks mostly to Parley. It went to shambles afterwards. I also liked the spirit against bigger teams. However it seemed like th me wheels came off really quickly afterwards

Mickel is not a big name like Guardiola. But I feel guardiola won't take a nonsense player like Ozil being lazy and not giving a 100% in training. I think he used his position in the squad to create some disharmony in the squad. Its a toxic presence that needs to be rid of

No chance of Arteta getting sacked any time soon.

Also, Ozil situation is not in his hands. The club has decided to banish him because of his comments on China which is huge market for Arsenal.

If he is to make a comeback, it will only happen if the owners allow him to. If it was down to Arteta, he would have played him considering the complete lack of creativity in the team.

Theyre 15th in the league A handful of points above relegation The wheels have come off and they look a team that is devoid of any confidence and not playing for him One win in 7?

If this continues they ll be in a relegation scrap and you think the board will sit back n let that happen No matter how much they believe in him or back him results are what matter

His job is on the line Hes got 2 games before he loses his job

The only reason he hasn't been sacked is because the clueless board don't know what to do if he sacked and who to hire.

They best back him in the January window. Because most of these players don't want to be here and aren't good enough. Mainly the senior players.

The board is stuck- they have hired & backed their man- if they sack him now, it will be a huge embarrassment. They must now back Arteta in the Jan transfer window.

Arsenal FC is in a bad place. It will take a massive overhaul of players. Looking at probably 3-4yrs of rebuilding to be a successful side again.

Within a year, Arteta has beaten Klopp, Lampard and Ole twice and also beat Pep once.

He is clearly a brilliant young manager who needs to be backed. Arsenal were not going to sack him any time soon, but this would further boost their confidence in him.

and within a year he is the manager whose lost to teams at home to which they have never lost too...

Arteta may have been dealt a good hand... hopefully he'll continue to pick youngsters

Boy did Arteta need that win.

Good move to bring a few youngsters in. They provided energy and much needed spirit.

Good win but still in 14th position. He can win a few games against the bigger teams but Arsenal will not make Europe this season and Arteta will be gone. Against London rivals, you dont need to motivate your team, which is what took place today.

He only beat Liverpool in non meaningful games, I have no doubt we will crush them again as we did not long ago with our own 3-1 win.

If Arteta can man manage then he'll be fine. I agree with Mamoon that he has a good footballing brain and is destined to be a successful manager.

I think the key today was to discard the cancerous duo of Luiz and Willian in this team as they are widely thought to be the ones behind plotting Arteta's sacking.

That exactly what management is all about,

A footballing brain does jack for you, Gary Neville, carragher, sheara, ETC. have fine footballing brains, some of the best, but they can't man manage, this is why they sit in a studio and not in a dugout.

Steve bruce had one of the finest footballing minds there is, but he didn't become a super success in management,

managing is all about man management, and this is why managers like Fergie, Wenger and others succeeded, it was there man management and not footballing genius that made them.

This is the reason why Arteta is and will always be a terrible manager, he just can't succeed in management, he might sound amazing analysing a match in a studio but if he had to get in the dugout he would crash had onto his face.

Anyway thanks for him, we needed Chelsea to lose that.

Arsenal will not sack Arteta unless he gets them relegated this which is obviously not going to happen. I don’t know why some people cannot accept the fact that he still has the full backing of the board.

It's not about the backing of the board or that anyone wants him sacked.

I'm not sure if you know what Arteta was like when he was our captain?
If his brings that philosophy to his management style, which he clearly has, then he needs to back the youngsters who will follow his methods.

I agree with the importance of man management but I think it's a bit premature to write off Arteta when he's got a bunch of toxic and substandard players with hardly any funds to buy players.

Time will tell if Arteta can man manage. If he can pick this up then I have no doubt he will be successful, maybe not at Arsenal but I'm sure he'll have a managerial career to write home about.

When you have toxic and average players, that's when your really tested as a manager and Arteta has crumbled.

The situation with toxicity and average players isn't even that bad, its being made to look bad because of how rubbish Arteta is. They are still a good bunch of players, had a menace in Auba upfront, good players in MF and some very good youngsters coming through, they certainly were in a better place then what Chelsea was in after fat frank got the job with a transfer ban. But Arteta has crashed the whole team, the toxicity has been spread by himself.

Its the managers job to fix all this, when Ole got the job at MU, we had the worse dressing room in football, with players wanting to leave, the atmosphere was toxic where even the canteen staff were ****** off. Not only did ole neutralise it, he went and got the best out of ave. players Mourinho bought but had no clue how to play them like Fred and turned there careers around, have the youngsters like Rashford and martial a proper run week in, week out and made it a happy dressing room.
This is where Arteta fails because the best football tactics will not win you matches and certainly not trophies, only management will.

It’s amusing to see Arsenal fans getting gassed again now they have finally won a game...legendarily did the same after the Utd game ...be interesting to see how they handle Brighton and Big Sam over the next couple games ...

Frank Lampard if he loses to us tomorrow and City has to go ...Chelsea are flat track bully’s atm...and to be in December and still not know what your best XI is is criminal ...

Yesterday was awful...he started Chilwell and James when clearly not fit...Pulisic is a quality left winger and he keeps playing Werner who can barely control a football there ...if your strategy is going to be cross cross cross then at least play Giroud...recruiting Havertz is looking so pointless...he doesn’t fit the team ...it’s almost as if they decided let’s buy this wonder kid and decide after where to play him...

We may well lose to them tomorrow ...two day turnovers are not easy and they have more depth than us but nothing I’ve seen from Chelsea this season suggests title contenders...even their keeper looks poor ...

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he feels responsible for the club's poor form

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he feels "responsible" for the "suffering" endured by those associated with the club during a torrid run of form.

Arteta's side beat Chelsea on 26 December to secure a first win in the Premier League since early November.

The victory followed their worst start after 14 league games since 1974-75.

"It is draining, it is frustrating and it is painful," said Arteta, whose team sit in 15th place in the Premier League before Tuesday's match at Brighton.

"Obviously results-wise in the last few weeks we have all been suffering, I have been suffering. I feel very responsible for that.

"The worst feeling is because I want to do so well for this football club and at the moment we are in, I want to bring all my passion, the knowledge that I have, the right intentions to move as quickly as we possibly can as a football club.

"In order to do that we need to win football matches, to be stable and win. When I don't, I feel like I am letting the club down and the people that work for us, and obviously our fans."

After a run of five league defeats and two draws, the 3-1 win over London rivals Chelsea eased pressure on Arteta.

The likes of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said Arsenal would make a "big mistake" if they chose to sack Arteta due to the run of bad form, adding it was a "question of time and he will do well".

Arteta, 38, won the FA Cup in his first season in charge at Arsenal and said he continues to question his methods each day in a bid to identify ways to improve.

During a testing run of form that saw his side lose to Aston Villa, Tottenham, Burnley, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers he says he found comfort in family life.

Asked whether he found being in the dugout more tiring than playing the game, Arteta replied: "The simple answer is managing.

"Because you have a lot of people around you that you have to take care of. I always say you have 70 hearts in the training ground and stadium that you have to look after everyday.

"Every decision you make has an impact on their lives, their mood and the next day. So you are very aware of that and you get attached emotionally to them and I'm attached emotionally to this football club."

He's certainly good in front of the cameras I'll give him that :))

Mikel Arteta says he has had to adapt his tactical approach "much more" than he expected since taking over as Arsenal boss, due to the composition of his squad.

Job done today.

Not the greatest performance but a clean sheet and 3 more points.

Like I said before Arteta has finally realised that the youngsters are much better at taking on his methods than some of the seniors.

The youngsters, lead by Sakha, are working their socks off for him and this is now slowly sinking into players like Laca whose finish today was subliminal

He is going to serve a lot of humble pies to football ignorant people. A great manager in the making.

He has to be given time till the end of the season. Not the worst manager, just needs a better centre-back and a creative midfielder.

Did you even watch yesterday’s game?...

Arsenal were awful...just Brighton were worse...

Arsenal were poor in the first half but did well in the second half and got the goal. Apparently this is the first time in history that a team has won a match without putting in a 10/10 performance.

How is the relegation dogfight going for Arsenal?

The most important thing was to get the result. You don't get extra points for playing well. We need wins to get up the table and some confidence going. The 2nd half was much better anyway.

I really don't care how we play against West Brom as long as we win. We have Newcastle and Crystal Palace at home after that, I will analyse performances more in those 2 games .

I do believe Arteta is the right man. But he needs to improve his man management. Also he will need backing in the transfer window.

Mamoon, Kolasinac has agreed to join Schalke on loan. Arsenal have told Ozil and Sokratis they can leave in January. Mustafi would like to leave in January .

Arteta clear out has begun. :smith

Did you switch it off during half time? :)))

Nope...It was poor...if that performance satisfies you then maybe you are accepting of your mediocrity ...Saka pretty much saved you ...other than that it was lethargic and that too against a Brighton that rested all their attacking players ...

Had Arsenal lost, you would have broken your keyboard and told us how Arteta is clueless and couldn’t take advantage of a poor Brighton and is now back in the relegation dogfight.

Now that Arsenal fought to a win, the narrative has changed to it is not a big deal.

No one is accepting mediocrity. Everyone understands that there needs to be mass turnover of players because they current squad is not good enough.

The issue is that you are judgmental and hasty when it comes to passing verdict on Arteta. He will prove you wrong in the long run and it will be up to you to prove to be a big man and eat your humble pie or continue to push your agenda.

I think he is a good young coach and tactician. He needs to work on the other aspects of his management including man management and player recruitment.

Willian was a bad signing and Arsenal are currently burdened with some awful players that they must offload expeditiously.

Trust the process.

Needs to keep on winning to ensure he gets the time. Have some winnable fixtures coming up. Sign an attacking midfielder and get Partey fit, 2nd half of the season could be much more enjoyable.

Chelsea beat West Ham 3-0 but it was a turgid display ...you beat a Brighton who gave their worst performance of the season...and are acting as if this is some revival on your part ...

If Arteta is successful for you then I’ll eat the humble pie ...a good performance against Chelsea definitely ...but the Brighton game was so drab ...

Everyone was jumping up and down until Christmas but the thread has gone quiet after the recent results.

The way he has turned Arsenal’s form around under extreme pressure shows his quality as a manager.

Proper backing over the next couple of windows and Arsenal could be genuinely challenging for 4th.

I don't think anyone is asked for him to be sacked.

He just needs to back a few more of the youngsters especially for the likes of Willian.
Also, Partay should never have started yesterday, maybe on the bench but thats it.

and finally...

So what? Lacazette needs to be sold in the summer. If he is still a starter next season, it will be a very worrying sign.

He has never scored more than 14 goals in a PL season. He is terribly mediocre and not fit to be a starter.

Don’t be fooled by a few good games. He has a decent patch every season and people think he has turned a corner before he returns to his mediocre self.

He has never scored more than 14 goals in a PL season. He is very average and not fit to be a starter.

The curse of the #9 shirt continues at Arsenal.

Arteta has turned things around and deserves credit for that. We are seeing signs of what style he wants to implement.

Arsenal have received nine Premier League red cards under Mikel Arteta. No other club has had more than three PL sendings off since Arteta took charge of his first match at the Gunners (from Boxing Day 2019 onwards).

Should've been 9 unbeaten and won comfortably. Maybe a seasoned manager gets more out of them consistently

Every time we get some momentum going, we get knocked back again. So frustrating.

I love Arteta, but you have Gabriel Martinelli on the bench, and you bring on Willian? I simply can't understand his obsession with Willian.

That was inexplicable.
His continued faith in Willian is now disconcerting

Mikel Arteta on online abuse: Arsenal boss reveals social media threats towards his family

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed his family have been threatened on social media, saying more needs to be done to protect footballers, managers and officials who are "exposed" to hate.

The Premier League, FA, EFL, WSL, Women's Championship, PFA, LMA, PGMOL and Kick It Out all co-signed an open letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook founder, chairman and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, demanding immediate action over numerous incidents of abuse aimed at footballers and officials.

High-profile players in both the men's and women's game have been victims of racist abuse on social media in recent weeks, while Premier League referee Mike Dean was subjected to death threats following a controversial decision over the weekend.

Facebook-owned Instagram announced new measures, including the removal of accounts to prevent abusive messages on its platform, while Twitter condemned the behaviour and vowed to work closely with the football community to tackle the unacceptable behaviour.

Arteta says everyone in football is "exposed" and while he can brush off abuse directed at him personally, he is affected more when abusers target his family.

When asked to discuss his personal experiences with online abuse, Arteta replied: "I prefer not to, we are all exposed in this industry.

"It would affect me a lot more the moment someone wants to touch my family, because it happened. The club was aware of it and tried to do something about it.

"It's not going to stop tomorrow, we know that, we want to do something medium or long term.

It's part of the job, I am not the only one suffering this type of thing.

"When you are winning it is beautiful, you are incredible and you are the best coach. When you lose it is the opposite, it's not pleasant.

"When it is personal against me I can take it, but when it is my family involved it is a different story.

"The club is very supportive, we do what we have to when those things happen. Medium, long term, can we do something about it? We need to protect people in the game."

Arteta says Arsenal are helping players with advice and protection against such abuse, but insisted the same support must be afforded to referees who are under similar scrutiny.

"Of course we have talked internally to the players and we have given them advice and try to protect them as much a possible.

"The incident that occurred a few days ago with Mike Dean is completely unacceptable. We should stand by him and support referees, they have a tremendously difficult role at the moment.

"At the same time they are trying to do their best and preparing the best they can, we all make mistakes."
