What's new

Australia [389/4] beat India [338/9] by 51 runs in the 2nd ODI

What an extra cover drive from Mayank!

Great start for India. But they need to keep this up for next 30 overs without losing many wickets.

So Agarwal lifts his front foot playing shots on the fuller length

Indian fans have started to emerge in this thread after a lifeline

India are right in this game. Don’t write them off yet

Have to agree. As bad as the bowling effort was, I fully expect the likes of Dhawan, Mayank, Kohli, Rahul, and Pandya to give it a good fight. They can easily chase 340, the real question is whether they can make those extra 40 runs.

Ideally India need 220-1 in 30 overs and they are well in this game

Everyone is hittable except Hazelwood.

They need to play him smartly.

Exactly, they did the exact opposite last match. Could have actually been a very close chase if the top 4 played a little bit more smartly.

Dhawan tries to force one. there was no need for that. India is maintaining a good rate. Why slog blindly now?

They were going so well just playing good cricket shots, why is Dhawan trying to be so extra?

We are only going by reputations. Gill would have learnt so much in this series bad we played him instead of this Baldy.

You are correct but I think we'll get bowled out by the time we reach 200-odd.

Have faith man, I know we like to troll but cricket is the most beautiful game in the world. You can never say never

Agarwal needs to sort out his front foot. Not sure why it’s in the air all the time

So if Agarwal doesn’t lift his front foot, he is basically a sitting duck

Dammmn. Cummins always looks like picking a wicket. The end is nigh it seems folks

It's really astonishing to see Gill not being able to find a place in this pathetic Rohit less batting line-up.

Am a big fan of Mayank but these 20s won't do him or us any good.

Kohli will follow soon and then we'll see some "solidifying" from Rahul and Iyer against Maxwell and Zampa.

Rohit must be sitting somewhere at the NCA having a big meal and laughing his *** out at this farce. :))

The trademark Shreyas shot.

Move to the right...move to the left...hit to the right...move to the left

Shreyas batting like a clown.

Where’s Prithvi Shaw?

In KL Rahul and Pandya; India has some decent firepower in the lower order but for that to really be in the game; these two need to take India beyond 200+.

Sanju Samson should be in Indian team...

Probably lost his own confidence and selectors' after a horrendous IPL.

I don't think Shreyas Iyer is good enough on the short ball against these bowlers. Might work in India, but not here.

Yaar Hazelwood is some bowler. I know people give him credit and rate him a lot but I still think he is underrated. Also think if he was in 2019 WC squad; Aussies might have won it too. Only Aussies could rest a fit bowler for a World Cup to make sure he’s fully ready for an ashes series

This Iyer got selected for the test squad if I'm not wrong.

He should get a game in Perth. :)

True. He is an awesome bowler. Probably 60% of McGrath's abilities.

Didn’t know but That shouldn’t be grounds for dropping tho. (Assuming he was doing well otherwise). Iyer and Shaw have been talked about for a while and Shaw looks the better of the two from little I’ve seen

Agree. IPL should not be a yardstick for selection in international cricket.

As for Shaw, had few middling scores during NZ trip, our last international assignment before this trip.

Man this is such a shame. India will fare so much better with Warner out of the Test series

Atleast one of the U-23 batsmen need to be permanent fixture in Indian lineup and its high time now (Rather already an year or two late) considering Kohli (32), Rohit (33), Dhawan (34) dont have a lot of years left. Someone should be ready to be the young lead batsman when they are gone otherwise there will be quite a few problems for India going forward. Rahul and Iyer can be the transitional bridge but a young guy who can have 12-15 years in him needs to be developed as the next star.
