Australia defeat India by 5 wickets in 1st ODI (Perth)

This ridiculous is our best score in Australia against Australia.

The pitches then and now have changed a lot and i don't think Indian bowling get defend this but lets see hopefully early wickets might do the trick.

Atleast 15 runs short given the start. Nevertheless a good total. But we have to bowl really well to trouble this Aussie batting line up. I expect Aus to coast to victory, unless one of our bowlers have a very good day.

coast to victory? WOW.. Look at the records and you'll see that 300 hasn't been chased that many times in AUS. 309 is a special score on a two paced pitch

Look at the bowling Quality of the opposition before being proud in the target that has been set.

Boland, Paris, Faulkner, Marsh, Maxwell... What an ATG bowling attack.

Yeah if Starc was here, we wouldve have reached 270 methinks. Anyway we might still lose this.

I thought Hazelwood played the game. Didn't he? Wasn't Faulkner the MOM in the WC final and one of the best death bowlers around? Maxwell and Marsh are their regular bowlers. India and Aus are missing their best pacer Starc and Shami.

Rohit averages a beastly 60+ in australia at a strike rate of 92 with 3 centuries, and to think sachin has just 1 odi century in australia, what has this world come to :troll

India put up a similar 280ish score in the MCG where Rohit again scored a ton. But there they terribly botched up a good start, mainly due to Dhoni. Here they have finished well, but still considering the fact that we have BK, Sran and Umesh in our bowling line up, I expect the Aussie top order all to bat around 5 an over with Maxwell or Faulkner finishing the chase. You can't fault me, I simply don't have confidence in our bowlers defending anything less than 320 in Australia, more so considering the fact that we have a debutant in Sran and BK who isn't effective in Aus. I hope I'm proved wrong though, but still think that Aus will win this considering their fire power in batting.

You are very optimistic if you think that just because Kohli and Sharma were happy to bat at 5 per over that players like Warner, Smith and the like will bat so slowly.

Do a regression analysis on this.

The game rules have changed so much over the years to favor the batsmen, you would find majority of 150+ scores are being scored in the last 05 years or so.

It's not because of lack of ability by old greats, but because of lack of opportunity.

Certainly not chasing this total.

5 an over makes sense in certain circumstances but this doesn't really fit the bill

People think scoring 300 at the WACA is a joke, irrespective of the quality of the bowling it isn't easy for foreign teams especially due to the bounce.
People need to get a grip, 309 is a very good score.

AUS is definitely capable of winning. But they will not coast to victory. It will be one of those classic games with a <10 run victory for India or 2 to 3 wicket victory for Aussies. Ashwin is bowling well. Jadeja seems to have found his mojo. They will probably be the key

Mr Analyst, I have followed many of your analysis and sad to say you are not very good at analyzing the game, India will win this, see you after the game :najam

Can't believe people are knocking Rohit's innings. 171 at the waca against Australia, irrespective of the bowling is a great effort.

Stop getting you knickers in a twist man, and let them troll. It was a mammoth effort by Rohit Sharma and deserves all the applause.

Guys, how good is this Barinder Sran?

Seriously some people saying we should have tried for 350.
350 ke chakkar mein we wouldn't even have made 280 I can bet on that.

No one is knocking Rohit's innings.

There is no point being 309-4 when you could be 339-8.

There is no way you can convince me saving wickets, after being 220-1 is clever.

Haven't seen him bowl much. left-armer 130-135 kmph and swiings the ball :nehra

I believe it's the safety first approach rather than go ballistic. They followed the same formula in the WC with good success. Also, Aussie bowlers especially Hazelwood was decent and tied down the batsmen

This is the only video I could find. makes me wanna avoid watching the second inning. :(

130-135. That's pretty average. I thought after Umesh, Aaron India was producing quickies but it appears they were just an exception

If this was India's pre - 2011 batting then I would agree. Our lower order is probably the 2nd or 3rd worst lower order amongst the top 8.
I have seen this happen many a times before where India have decided to launch too soon and the useless middle order has made a mess of it.

Scoring 85 in last 10 overs is a great effort .

Just becoz some thing scoring 120 is possible doesn't mean its realistic .

Last time in MCG we scored like 40 in last 10 overs against Australia trying to scoring too much .

Another big daddy hundred by Rihit Bhai.

He has got the knack of scoring these big knocks.

130 in the last 16 overs is very good. With an extra fielder outside the cirle after 40 overs, it's more difficult now to slog at the end.

His fitness is amazing as well. After scoring 150, he and Jadeja ran a three off Maxwell. Impressive

They collapsed in MCG because they were too negative not because they were trying to score fast. They blocked and blocked until the guys coming in with 5 overs left needed to score at 12 RPO straight away.

Here they had 9 wickets left and patting the ball back. Absurd batting.

We collapsed because we tried to score too much which resulted in losing ekts regularly.

Raina slogged the first ball of power play straight to mid on in the 35 th over for example
