What's new

Australia defeat India by 5 wickets in 1st ODI (Perth)

The best case scenario of this produces 315 which is at best slightly above par.

The worst case falls short and they are in huge trouble.

I think Kohli will play like this till his 100. Rohit as usual go berserk. My only worry is the next man in. Pandey/ Rahaney are not that big hitters especially in foreign conditions. Dhoni.... welll he is Dhoni. He will take atleast 10-15 balls just to get in :(

Yes.

And Asif bowled Australia out for 127 at Sydney. Including Ponting, Clarke and Hussey.

Our trundlers got Aussies out below 300 twice in the last two tours. We all know what happened.

Asif does not equal whole of Pakistan.

1995: Wasim and Waqar bowled to:

Taylor
Slater
Boon
M Waugh
S Waugh
Blewett

1999; Wasim and Shoaib bowled to:

Slater
Blewett
Ponting
M Waugh
S Waugh
Gilchrist

2016-17: you only have to play against

Warner
Burns
Khawaja
Smith
Grandpa Voges
Mitch Marsh
Nevill

Sure, Amir/Asif/Wahab/Yasir isn't your best ever attack.

But Stuart Broad bowled out those Aussie clowns in less than a session.

I love reading your comments but I'm afraid you're a bit off the mark here.

Most Aussie tracks are very flat nowadays providing little seam movement but only bounce. Only the hit the deck kind of bowlers who are pacy and willing to bend their back will be successful in Australia nowadays. And I think only Wahab fits that criterion and I can see him being successful in Aus if he is consistent with his line. Amir will be a handful too but I don't think he'll be as lethal as people here make him out to be in Australia, if he bowls in the late 130s. Asif at his peak wasn't great in Australia and expecting him to have a spectacular series after he has been out of the game for 5 years and in his mid thirties has lot of assumptions attached to it. And at this moment, it is highly doubtful if Yasir can play for Pakistan again in the next 3 to 4 years, let alone during the Australian series.

Even if your bowlers have a good day, your batsmen should have to step up in Australia, flat tracks or not. The likes of Starc, Hazelwood and Pattinson will trouble your newbie batsmen who will be touring Aus for the first time in their life for a test series. Also Misbah and YK are in their forties and expecting them to bail your team out with their failing reflexes will be a difficult task. So all in all, I expect a very tough series for Pakistan in Aus. In fact, I expect Pak to perform better in England where they have fared better in the past than in Australia, where they have historically struggled.

Actually this is strange batting. With 9 wickets in hand, I would have expected them to go all out after the Aussies

Kohlis just bothered about his ton, nothing justifies that approach with 9 wickets in hand

Just goes to show the difference made by Starc for Aussie bowling. Without him they look very ordinary.

It's actually more positive for Pakistan.

The bang-it-in hit-the-deck tracks are Brisbane and Perth - but South Africa play there, not Pakistan.

Pakistan will get better surfaces. Adelaide will be a Pink Ball greentop. Melbourne and Sydney are fairly likely to be low-bouncing and rain-affected.

All Aus needed were 2 wickets and the game would have been done.

These two are capable of going at 10 an over in the last 10 easy.

How quick? Just seen his last few overs and all the deliveries I've glanced at have been around 130kph.

Speedgunned in Champions League T20 at over the 140s.

Haven't been paying any attention to this match. Too much fun in the AFL at the moment with Essendone

I have a totally opposite feeling about Ummy boy. He is good in Asia, but on Aussie tracks, he will get murdered. Shami was our only hope it seems.

I always said Shami the best bowler currently in Asia, but is injuries saga :( Now i don't even see him making a good come back.

Pakistanis batsmen have trouble staying on the pitch.

Indian batsmen have trouble contemplating when to go off the pitch.

Its not an easy to score in the final 10 overs like some are saying, especially with the new rules. 300 will be a par score here.

I dont think thats the case. Recently we have seen too many collapse by Indian lower order. Rahane/Dhoni dont inspire much confidence. I would rather these two bat till 48th over.

If you want to win, you need to hit 320+. And yes, me too don't have trust on Indian lower order batsmen. They need to accelerate in order to get 320+.

Same pitch we will be all out around 175 in 45-48 overs. India still hold the powerhouse of Asian batting.

Problem with aiming for 320 is that they might not get to even 270. Having a reasonable target in mind will get them 300 IMO.

Yes its a belter, flat track.

But scoring against Australia vs Australia is not always easy.

And a partnership of 200 by these two would be criminally underrated by 90% people dismissing the effort as flat track.

Flat tracks require concentration too.

I feel this really does a disservice to batsmen who have scored runs.

You need to go with 10 per over if you want to touch 300. And if they block 2-3 more overs, then they will need 12 per over which won't be easy.

Yes.

Look..Indians scored more than 400 multiple times in tests in AUS but still could only draw the games or lose. They don't have the bowling fire power.

Pakistan could get AUS out for cheaper scores but they still lost because their batting was terrible.

You need a good batting and bowling team like SA to win in AUS

Umar Akmal fan may be....

Haha, mera taste itna bhi kharab nahe lol. I am only a fan of cricket, not specific players. That's why i follow every international game, doesn't matter if it is Afghan v Zim or NZ v SL.
Yeah, missed NZ matches due to poor timing.

Again, even if it's a greentop in Adelaide, it would be equally difficult for Pakistan batsmen. Pakistan haven't played overseas for the last five years, save for the SA series. They have gotten used to play in the low bounce lifeless tracks in the UAE and it would be more difficult for them to face lateral movement, than the Aussies who will atleast be having a home advantage. All depends on how Pak perform in England. If their batsmen have the technique to fare well on English pitches with swing on offer, they can hope for a better return in Adelaide. Otherwise, their batting will again end up in their undoing even if their bowling clicks.

Essentially, Junaids is relying on the lottery green wicket of Adelaide for Pakistan to win. That says it all.

Harsha talked about Dhoni looking stronger these days, let's see how different he is now.

Exactly!!! India does not have decent bowlers to win in overseas. But our batting is as more or less than Afghanistan. With these type of batting its hard for us to win a ODI in overseas let alone test.

Now time for some tuk tuk from Dhoni.. Expecting India to end up at around 280 for the loss of 5 wickets

Tuk tuk has come

who? Dhoni? Give respect to this legent who gave you so many ICC trophy with limited resource of bowling.

The captaincy of Dhoni for ODIs still the best. I would rather take a 45 years Dhoni as a captain and mentor than any of our greats.

Hazlewood has been a class above other Australian bowlers
