Good start so far, happy with it, exceeded my wildest expectations atm.

Good Cook's got in, he usually sticks at the crease once he's played himself in.

Pretty much ended his international career, though he did a lot of damage to that on his own IMO.

Yeah, rough deal but at the same time probably not international standard anyway.

Disagree think Khawaja is international standard, just not ready yet. Technique is sound, and he seems to be able to rack up the runs in domestic.

Steve Smith confuses me, initially thought he was rubbish, but some good innings lately. Maybe he's improved. Think his technique has improved, played pretty good this innings, and I remember when I first saw him it was a mess.

Hughes I thought was far ahead of the other two, his decline has been disappointing.

I'd be a bit surprised though if both Hughes and Khawaja don't become permanent fixtures in the Aussie team eventually though.

Oh and Maxwell, no idea haven't seen him play much test cricket. Damn exciting player though, I'd love it if he somehow cemented his spot in the test team.

Is it just me or is this pitch not as juiced up as it was all hyped to be? Sure there is bounce and pace but batsmen are getting out instead of being dismissed. There is none of the lethal bounce and pace and swing that was all trumpeted prior to this game. Brisbane was much nastier IMO.

England showing grit here. If they can draw here , it will be a big boost to there confidence

If England can get a lead I don't think Australia can win. But a veeeeeeery long way to go

Agreed. I was expecting Prior to be scratching around at the crease with 80/5 on the board.

Chef got a century here in 2006 against a better attack.

ENG need two tons from their big three batters here. Get some sort of lead. Show that Johnno is playable.

Don't know if it's just me or Maxwell's mannerism, running, throwing, fielding looks somewhat similar to Ricky. He's an attacking batsman too but not in the style of Ricky. If he's half as good as Ricky, then Aus will have a gem in their hands in shorter formats.

KP Need to Play Few shot,s Here Play Natural Game KP

Iam supporting England bcz of Pakistan-Australia Test Ranking Issue

Will like to see Cook score big here meanwhile Cook score Four

Weather is Hot

the previews over-hyped the pace & bounce . The ease with which players are batting, draw cannot be ruled out .

Eng 118/2
thay have to score atleast 500 if thay want to win this Test

120 Lead and get Aussies all out on 250 in 2nd Inning
130 Target even will be Thought to chase on this Perth pitch

Been a good day for England I'd say. 2 down for over a hundred is a good platform with the game still in the balance.

He's a very confident player in general.

Remember seeing him bowl. Clearly no Warne :))), but the guy showed a lot of confidence in his bowling.

They're similar in that way, Ponting was always looking to appear "confident" and behave in a certain way on the field.

Johnno is not looking his usual bad self. Struggling for rhythm maybe?

Come on Chef, come on KP, wear them down. It's hot and they'll start to feel it.

The thing about the WACA is that it tests batsmens' reserves of patience and concentration. But the wicket is so fast that when you get the measure of the bounce you can score a lot. Because you can basically block a ball from Jonno and it will go for four. Just need to keep concentrating and not edge it basically.

I am simply loving this battle after tea. Aussies are giving nothing away. Love to see Kevin and Cook put up a a partnership Today"

He's an overrated hack.

Hard fought innings from Cook, well played. Shame he couldn't go on with it. That was a very ordinary dismissal after so much hard work and graft

Cook got out to a nothing shot and will be kicking himself

Oh no, to Lyon too :(.

Cook has huge troubles early on often, but doesn't throw it away much. Kind of disappointed with that dismissal.

Anyway, 136/3 is still very solid. Hope England build well on that.

Just when i thought he was looking comfortable, Cook throws it away. KP seems to be struggling for fluency though

Oh Cooky, you blew it! Hard work gone to waste, wanted him to score a 100 in his 100th Test. :(

Aussie bowlers have bowled well and put the batsmen under pressure. The runs had dried up, and something had to happen.

Well played Cook.

Now time for Mitch to fire some thunderballs

My lungs are in my throat. Kevin looks like a walking wicket.

Johnson hasn't bowled well in his last two innings.

Siddle should come on.

Cook gone for 72. This inns just showed the character of the man. Even when not in form guy just stays in the crease and work as hard as he can.

Johnno vs KP is a great contest. This is what Test cricket is all about.

Just a bit of a y-fronts-browner if you support England.

you are being a pessimist :)

20 overs left . Only way draw goes out of reckoning is if somehow Aus pick up 2 more wickets today . What do think the pitch will be like on day 4 & 5 ?

He is a bunny, but in a different way. Not in the Warne to Bell or Anderson to Tendulkar way where the batsman struggles to even get bat on ball against him, but in the always throws his wicket away against him way.

5/0 on Card
if White Washed happened which Looks very Likely

Australia will became no-3 in ICC Test Ranking with 111 Point
England at 107 Point

Pakistan Playing Test championShip Looks Thought (But still 3 year,s to go ranking can change)
Australia will tour UAE NExt year 2/0 there will be Good

It's just really dumb cricket. Courageously see off the 90mph strike bowler and then flimsily waft at the first change.

The great Peter Siddle rolls on, dismisses his bunny and hulks up.

Now Bitza is in. Excellent.

KP made mincemeat of Psycho Sid at Adelaide 3 years ago. Not sure why he has developed this comprehensive inability to play him since.

Maxwell has promise but I am not sure he is a Test cricketer. Also, he is likely to spend most of time playing LO cricket instead of first class so I am dubious he will improve enough.

Really? He seems at best a T20 player. What makes you think he is test standard? His bowling is rubbish and his batting is like Afridi.

Don't rate him at all.

Khawaja seems like the player that looks the part but never delivers like Amin as compared to Smith who looks club level but makes runs.
