I don't see too much in it tbh, middle class up bringing i.e. hard working and humble about his accomplishments.

isnt Kohli middle class? or Sachin or Dravid or Kumble or M Vijay? only upper class players India have had were Pautadi and Ganguly rest are mostly middle class and a few from lower class like Yadav
 
I am proud of this Indian team even if they lose again by 4-0. At least they are giving some fight, some good performances and margins of defeat are smaller. This can improve with time as we find some more good batsman and luckily/hopefully some bowlers (which we always lacked throughout our history).

Ajay Jadeja was from a Royal family, plus if you go back to those times plenty of cricketers then were very upper class. Pranab Roy's entire family was land-owning aristocrats 4 of whom played for India, Hanumant Singh was a prince as well.

It also depends on how you define 'upper class'.

Those drops were very costly and may have cost us a win. It's still up for grabs if both teams are willing to go for it though

For me it was more about generalizing certain traits with different classes that didn't sound too good. He was all exuberant describing Kohli, wide eyes, lots of excitement, but made facial expressions of pity and dullness while describing the middle-class Rahane. Not that big a deal, but I didn't like the way he went about it.

There is a lot to look forward to as an Indian fan though.

Vijay, Pujara, Kohli and Rahane will match the fab four
 
Great day for India!! They have a chance of drawing a game here if they can bat out some more time and chop off that 60 run deficit. But 3-0 threat is still real, they lost too many wickets towards the close of the day's play.
 
Manjrekar is an excitable fool IMO. I like Ganguly and Harsha the most, Gavaskar was good when he wasn't being paid to be a BCCI stooge.

Having said that I am aware of how bad the Aussie commentators are. It's such a pity because we have a lot of excellent commentators on radio but they would never get a look
in at the boys club of Channel 9.

Gone are the days when I used to like the 9 commentators. That was about 10 years ago when there was no Healy, Slater, and the other Aussie cheerleaders. Lawry had a Aussie bias (probably only because he had to pander to an Aus crowd) but was entertaining and gave credit to the opposition when they excelled. Benaud was witty only spoke when necessary unlike the motormouths now. Greig was always the one to root for the visitors and had interesting duels with Lawry. Chappell is always a good reader of the game and provides deep insight into the mind games happening in the match. He is by far my fav commie in the world for over 15 years now.
Its a irony that Manjrekar is pointing at Rahane's middle class mild manners when he is the one who showed toughness in the face of pressure when rockstars like Ishant, Rohit, etc were more interested in talking trash than actually performing. Rahane is cut from the same cloth as :srt and Dravid in terms of mannerisms. I'll take taht anytime of the day. Oh BTW one should look at how timid Manjrekar was when he was playing. Chris Lewis once bowled a bouncer and sledged Manju and Manju backed away like a coward. So much for upper class "aggression".

Yes, but Ian Chappell is just superb.
 
I would love to see India and Pakistan prepare for Test series in Australia by playing against one another in South Africa or even at secondary Australian venues like Cairns and Darwin.

It would take out of the equation all the problems about a venue, be in a good time zone for Indian TV and would let the players reach a good level of acclimatisation.

And the TV revenue would pay off the expense many times over.
 
This series has been a good one from India's point of view. The result was a given, but the real purpose was practice for the world cup. and indian batsmen have got enough batting practice for the real deal.

Harsha is not a good cricket match commentator, at best he is decent in hosting pre/post match discussion.

Ganguly has all the right ingredients to make a very good commentator, he is too blunt for Indians, some accuse him of jealousy and being Anti-Dhoni.

Dravid is too diplomatic and shy. Boring.

Gavaskar maybe bit biased but a very good story teller.

Ravi in-spite of all cliches adds bit of energy to otherwise dull games. He becomes good commentator with someone like Simon Doull and a very poor with Ramiz Raja.

Arun Lol and LSRK are worst Indian commentators, annoying.

Unfortunately, this was the deal right from the beginning. And Indian team management has utilized the resources with world cup in mind.

Bhuvanesh, Jadeja were never exposed keeping in mind of the workload. Shami is being played now because Aaron's not available.

Aus should win this test. 60-70 is handy lead and Aus just need to score 300 runs here to dangle the carrot and based on what we have seen Indians will go for it.

Oh, I was following the NZ test. If rain takes out many overs then it will be difficult but Aus may still dangle the carrot. May not here due to Clarke not captaining but let's see.

this way u can just compete can win a match or series last 7 wickets for 56 really poor
 
Need quick wickets but we all know the Indian bowlers are not capable of it, this is either a draw or an Australian win
 
Indian bowling. Second innings need to perform.....first ball short and wide rubbish that gets rightfully smashed for four
 
I wanted India to win this match to make the series exciting, however the way India bowlers are bowling it is actually nightmare for their supporters.

And now if it's warner day than my indian friends should end of hoping even a draw for india, and he is due a big inning considering he got out cheaply in previous two innings. It will be epic if india still manage to lose this after scoring 450 plus in first inning, that shows calibre of indian great bowling.

3 Indian batsmen vs 11 Australians and 2 umpires who gave 50-50 calls to Aus and none to India........ If we had 3 more players we couldve drawn or won the series...
 
Is Ishant sledging ? back it up with your bowling before you sledge not when you are getting your butt whipped....

Ashwin to Rogers, no run, loud appeal for lbw as Rogers misses the sweep and is hit on the front pad, but the umpire doesn't agree with it. Pitched on middle and would have probably hit the top of leg..? Fair enough call from the umpire.


An appeal like this against India would have been OUT

actually that was spinning down the legside evidently the way Dhoni moved to his right the umpire would think twice before giving it out.

don't argue with him mate he is trying to find excuses for another test loss for india, only umpires are to blame otherwise india was on their way to doomlish Oz in their own backyard by whitewashing them 4-0
 
Ideal session for Oz, don't see anyway back for indians. Oz will give target of 400 plus runs and will have a go at indian batsman for atleast 10 overs tonight. And i don't see indians surviving 100 overs in last inning, nor they can score 400 runs at 4 runs per over in 4th inning so a certain loss on it's way, congragulation to indian bros. For going up 3-0 on moral count.

Even when cricketing world allowed umpiring calls to be reviewed, there were still errors made like the Sri Lankan series aka India's first DRS series.......
 
This wicket will give Indians some confidence to comeback in the game but the rain break has halted Aussies plans. Now I'm not sure if they want to go for quick runs or bat long to draw.

If Dhoni was any good, he would realize Australia are going to try to push for a win, and have four slips and an attacking field to get that outside edge.

Just like Rogers had one edge going through vacant first slip.

But as usual, clueless defensive Dhoni will be looking to see how much India gets to chase and try to draw or chase it down and fail.
