Anybody here watching this online on a Sky Sports stream? Please? Can't stand Star Cricket..

Starc doing to India what Johnno did to England at this same ground a year ago. Nobody can play the left-armer when he gets sharp in-swing it seems.

Is this the end of Johnno? I don't want to be charged with finding a new team jester :(

Kohli's last chance for some redemption and possibly last chance to stay in the team.

I guess it's a lot tougher when you're not playing all your games on a road of a pitch.

As a more general point, Aussie is looking like seriously hot property. Warner and Clarke are just fantastic, Ponting and Hussey still have a few innings left in them each, but the biggest impression has been made by the bowlers. Brilliant new bowlers, and all the previous ones have improved their accuracy, upped their pace and regained their confidence. IMO Uzzie and Paine should be seen as long-term replacements for Marsh and Haddin, and Watson displaces the decentish Cowan when he is fit. Is a spinner really required for them in non-Asian conditions?

Watson
Warner
Khawaja
Ponting
Clarke (c)
Hussey
Paine (wkt)
Starc
Harris
Cummins
Pattinson

Ladies and gentlemen I give you a bloody good team (in theory)

Haddin should be charged for ridiculous appealing. He has done quite a few times this series. I wonder why Australians never get pulled over by ICC referees. But the moment one Asian team does it, everyone jumps on them.

Cowan should stay in or phil jacques should be brought back as an opener. watson to replace marsh.

Aussies big problem will be to replace pointing and hussey!

Pace resources looks very good for Aussies.

feel a bit sorry for Marsh. Looking like a Brad Hodge kind of player, perfect for a certain kind of condition in test cricket, but looks behind the pace on other days. His face just doesn't really fit. A one-series wonder, but a good one.

whenever i think nothing can get worse than this , our team even beat murphy's law :P

anyway this test might end well before 2.5 days

EOD 2.

India 88/4. trail by 120 runs.
I think we might better the last test result , but will be a new low for us as far as time is concerned.

They did better than the second test. At least they took 10 wickets. Whether the match gets over in 2,3 or 4 days is not significant. Nothing gets as bad as not taking a wicket for nearly 2 days of a test match. :)

Looked a million dollars in SL but looks out of his depth here.

On your other post, our bowling looks very promising. Not so sure on the batting.

They should give him a life ban :batman:

kohli will play a innings of a life time and cement his place in the squad with a hundred,,,,,,,,,

and india will go on 2 win the match,,

Missed all of yesterday's play but looks like another innings win might be on the cards if we bowl well again.

The biggest question marks there will probably be Khawaja (will probably be in a long term contest with Marsh for the first drop spot) and Starc (will probably be swapped in and out for both rotation with the other bowlers and with Lyons as the token spinner).

The biggest issue with not having a spinner is obviously lack of variety in your attack as well as inability to take advantage of crumbling wickets or square turners. That said, if your current spinner isn't doing the job then there's no point carrying him. Though I think Lyons is doing a decent job keeping things tight from one end which is allowing the bowlers to attack from the other end. It's all about bowling in partnerships at the end of the day.

Also, I think the days are gone when we will see a long-term solid 11 that plays every match, esp. since most of these blokes also play IPL and T20 competitions. We will probably see more of a "squad" mentality similar to football or baseball where you may see players being rested more often, particularly in the bowling attack. So you might have a bowling unit comprising of Patto, Cummo, Rhino, the Hilf and Siddle as the guns, then the two Mitchells and maybe Dougie and Lyons for rotation purposes/variety.

As you yourself have said in the past, Watson is not the type to get big scores and occupy the crease much beyond a 50. I'm not entirely convinced by Cowan either, but I think Watson should go to the middle order. He doesn't grind the opposition enough to open, imo.

Paine has been struggling with injury, so I might choose Wade instead. Uzzie and Marsh I think both have something to them; I'll reserve judgment on that one. Marsh is having a bad spell of form, and he's too young in his career to have earned much brownie points or selector patience, but let's not forget that his first couple of matches he looked the most solid Aussie batsman.

16.1
Starc to Tendulkar, OUT, Tendulkar is gone! the Starc swing does the job, lbw once more, pitching on middle and snaking in, Tendulkar looking to play straight but can't put bat on it, struck on the pads, the height wasn't an issue, that would have probably taken the outside of leg stump, that was a tight call, Tendulkar walks off shaking his head, India in utter disarray, Starc is utterly delighted
SR Tendulkar lbw b Starc 8 (16b 1x4 0x6) SR: 50.00
Replays show that was going to hit the outside of leg

Shastri... Rohit needs to see how he can reach his hundred...... what a lesson he is giving to youngster... I wonder same they have taught to tendulkar...

Pushkar: "Ravi Shastri sums up India's attitude towards cricket in general by saying, "Kohli should now focus on completing his century." No mention of avoiding the innings defeat!!"

( cricinfo )

Vinay can bat, I think if he can hold on , Warner might have to bat again chasing say 30 runs to Win :D

^ Can't blame Shastri the guy has been crying whole series, have you seen his face after the second test. He looked high on some substance.

I guess India should blood in youngster right now, as India would be playing mostly in subcontinent.... so youngsters would have opportunity to settle in. The selectors need to have ball.
