What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Dec 15-19, 2016 | Day 2

Against a new ball under lights? Yeah.

Against a new ball in bright sunshine? No.

Now 54-5.

Soon you will tell me this is a 350 pitch in daylight and 100 pitch in lights.

Why not just admit the truth.

The batting is nowhere near Test Class.

Pathetic batting! its was awful in new zealand and its even worse here! shameful stuff! really is!

LOL and another one departs.

We are blaming the 40 year olds but what about the 2 guys in 30s? Not setting the world alight.

This match will be finish by lunch tomorrow if not by tea unless Australia bat again.
Shame on Inzamam and PCB to keep persist with Younis, Shafiq, Misbah

It's a recognised fact that the ball does a lot more under the lights, which is why the chances given to Smith yesterday proved so costly. Instead of having a go at the likes of Maddinson and Wade and potentially bowling Aussies out last night, we let them get to the dangerous period of the day with settled batsmen.

300-320 would have been a par score for the first innings on here. Aussies would have been in all sorts of trouble too if they had to start their innings under lights, probably not 54-5 but they definitely wouldn't have been in position to score 400+

It's just the way day/night tests go.

Pakistan doing their utmost to make a fool of me by being bowled out before stumps

The decisions to discard Umar Akmal, to exclude Salman Butt and to allow Younis and Misbah to continue into their forties are now delivering this. Totally predictably.

As was the muddle-headed conclusion that Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq are better investments than Umar Akmal because they have better attitudes.

Unnecessary praising is harming us most. Calling bellow average players as Kohli, Root, Tendulqar....

Look whatever score Australia would have got, our batting would have collapsed.

Drop chances make no difference because the pak batting line up with never capitalise

plz bring sharjeel and rizwan for the next test..we had enough withmenta midget shafiq and yunus..

Big difference between a team in danger of being bowled out for 100 and scoring 300.

Said it when the NZ series ended. The squad doesn't have time to sit down and re-plan how they'll play. Both the series were back-to-back and whatever poor judgement we showed in NZ is being passed on in Aus. I'm not even slightly surprised tbh.

This will not be a good tour once again.

FIghting knock by Sami Aslam, need to give credit where it's due, the kid has taken a lot of body blows, wish him best of luck.

Firstly, it is.

Secondly, you are one of the people objecting to your best two batsmen in Aussie conditions being selected.

There are consequences to such decisions. And now you are having to accept them.

Junaids your prediction was wrong too :))

Chances are Pakistan will be all out before stumps.

Sami gone, We will be all out before close of play and probably batting again under lights!

LOL this is how you will get out when you face 150 balls for 20 runs. You don't move the scoreboard along and get out anyway.

Where are those here who said we had a chance against the Aussies:)) As expected we're being humiliated again like school kids playing against professionals. We just can't play in Aussie, Kiwi and RSA conditions. Another one departs as I am typing this. This is embarrassing and much worse then I had thought. The problem again is our batting has been exposed, can we please end this tour early instead of making fool's of ourselves.

Australia will take 2-3 wickets of our 2nd innings and finish the match by tomorrow lunch

Big difference between a team in danger of being bowled out for 100 and scoring 300.

Big difference between starting your innings in sun shine and starting under lights too. How are you not getting this, when Junaids has been banging this drum for weeks?

Always been a mental thing against Australia. We will never win a test series in Australia, we'll definitely not in my lifetime

You are continually posting as if those tworking, who you have been moaning been selected would have set GABBA on fire. .Lol. .they too would have followed the same path

I wonder how England lost to a team like this and Pak have even reached number 1? lol ..

Pakistan won't get close to avoiding the follow on..

Innings defeat is on the cards, the Aussies should definitely enforce it and have the 2 days rest.

They were 43-1 when it went dark!

Can't you see what is staring you in the face?

Let me break it down for you honey.

Babar Azam - needless shot.

Younis Khan - expected

Misbah - expected

Asad Shafiq - needless shot

Sami Aslam - frustrated shot

Are you trying to tell me with a straight face, that ball was swinging and moving around so much that the batsmen could not cope with it?

Sami gone too, situation caught him too.

Effect of UAE are really at the show here, we had seen this in ODI(no 8 ranking), lack of horizontal bat shots means we cannot score.

Low and slow wickets of UAE is not only taking away viewers but quality of batsmen is disastrous.

Nothing to do with the light.

Even under the sun the score would have been. Surely you have watched enough pak cricket to understand this

dunno why same thing didnt happen in Saffer match or yesterday

Apparently the ball has been replaced because it has gone out of shape..do they roughen it up a bit before using it???

Did you even read the post I was replying to? I'm saying it's not a 400 pitch, not making excuses.

Reading comprehension, how does it work?

Lols, another excuse, anyways enjoy the match.

As I have been saying for ages, this team is unsuited to a Pink Ball Test in Australia.

It's almost as unsuited to a red ball one.

The first six names on the team sheet should be

Mohammad Amir
Mohammad Asif
Umar Akmal
Salman Butt
Yasir Shah
Wahab Riaz.

But three of them aren't even in the squad. Or the country.

And these batsmen - unlike Butt and Akmal - haven't learned that Down Under you can't hit balls outside your eyeline.

This is the wrong squad for Australia.

can't sleep but just goes to show when your frame of mind is to simply occupy the crease without looking to keep the scoreboard moving, it will catch up to you ... it happens over and over again with us yet we don't learn and neither are we willing to make changes

anymore "purists" still wanting to gloat about their supposed expert level understanding of real test cricket? :))
