What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Dec 15-19, 2016 | Day 2

What? Misbah likes to score quickly? Can be very dominating? Yeah, thanks for that, Warne.

Well, we're talking about a guy who just said he always picks B in multiple choice tests because it's right 85% of the time.

He is not only biased, he is low quality as well. But Channel 9 is in the pits like most others. Sky is probably the best of the bunch but even they have some duds like Botham.

People mistake Boycott's savage criticism for bias when he is savage to everyone. Healy is just complete crap.
Ian Chappell KP, Clarke, Taylor and Warne (when he's talking about the cricket) are pretty good. The rest are horrible.

Babar has all qualities of a talented batsman who will fail and frustrate the fans for a decade.

Umar already hit a ton against the best fast bowler of that time, in alien conditions.

You don't do that with indiscipline. He should've been given a proper chance in Tests.

Oh please.

That was one fluke innings 10 years ago.

People seem to think he is the best because of that one fluke innings.

No, he isn't the best in Tests, but he was dropped way too early from Tests and not given a chance.

He has potential to be an excellent Test bat.

Someone has to rotate scoring, Sami looks good in defense, but too defensive, I am seeing him for the first time....careful against Hazelwood and try to score more against others should be the order of night...

He still remembers this phainty:

Take note of the score btw, 2002 but it could just as easily been 2013. Poor Misbah :))

Misbah is having problem with Jackson Bird 🤥

Nothing in the pitch, Babar went wild, open the door for Auses. Pakistanis are horrible at dealing with bounce 🙄

Umar Akmal also has two A Test centuries in Australia from two matches.

He and Salman Butt are your only two batsmen who have both a cut and a cover drive and know when to use which.

Which is the key batting skill in Australia.

He hasn't hit a first class 100 in 2 years.

Please.

Umar Akmal has every opportunity to hit a quick 30 in Australia and then throw it away.

Did you watch the 100 he scored in 2009?

Two drop catches.

Not his fault, just saying, that's how he plays.

Way too much risk.

Misbah is good and fit as well. Age doest matter but its nothing wrong in cracking light jokes for fun i guess.

I have one :) I think babar must call misbah uncle not misbah bhai...

And healy's joke was good too...

Need at least one hundred from of these two and a couple of fifties.

Sami Aslam is so less talented than Babar Azam, but he has outperformed him on several occasions just because of his temperament

Sami gives me the Saeed anwar vibe, has a lot of time....might be a long time player like his predecessor....him and Renshaw work on bowlers patjence from the younger lot of Int'l crickters I have seen oflate, would love someone from India too like this, an opener who has loads of patience and time...no matter what happens to his score, I am impressed with this guy......

Bird is bowling very well to Sami, those two deliveries were peach 🍑

Simon Katich on ABC Radio commenting that Pakistan needs a tall right-arm fast medium bowler like Hazlewood or Bird.

I'm sure I saw one on PTV the other day.

Irfan is left handed though?

The only problem with defending everything is, if sooner or later a brilliant ball comes along, the scoreboard has not moved anywhere, and Pakistan are one more down.

I don't advertise blind hitting, but rotation of strike is critical in Test Cricket for that matter.

The one who last played an international match 6 years ago?

Oh yes, off course.

Does Cricket Australia's Concussion Policy apply to all matches in Australia?

Sami Aslam may end up not allowed to bat if he gets hit much more!

We'll be bowled out by 100

Sami struggling
Shafiq next

Send YK, Azhar home

lovely bowling making the batsman dance every ball. tough conditions to bat :yk

You also have to consider match situation, Babar and Sami had to play out today. They blunted Strac burst. Babar went unnecessarily on wife delivery, that brought collapse.

They would have plenty of time to score tomorrow, but for that night has to be seen off.

Fundamental problem is we don't have batsmen who San play cut and pull, you are not going to learn that in GABBA. We never get into position to play those shots, these guys are like tailunders when playing those shots. 🙄🙄

See what blocking everything is doing?

Misbah is gone now, and scoreboard moved 5 runs.

Too far away from the body, as I said keep them till 2020 👹👹☠️

That's poor from Misbah. Bowling was good to slowly draw him wider and wider but he should know better than to have a nibble at that

I know Asad Shafiq fails a lot, but outside Asia Younis Khan and Misbah have been a catastrophe for years.

How do they keep getting selected at their age?

And somebody was telling that not only could Pakistan equal 400+ of Australiua but also look to take a lead of 100+ runs because this was not green top pitch like NZ..:13:

Guys don't worry, Tendulkar will probably score a double ton and save this game for Pakistan !!

Is this the same pitch that Australia scored 400 on? :13:

Yeah, but Pakistan had to take 15 or 16 wickets.

If the Aussies were dropping catches and forgetting to appeal then 50/1 wouldn't look too bad.

You are not getting it, these guys don't have shots. Sami is playing to his strength, block the storm. What others have done?? - He is doing the best he can.

Misbah and YK don't attack seamers in UAE, how they will do it here??

That's not because of blocking.

That's because old men can't handle the pace and bounce in Australia.

And because you insisted on not picking your two best batsmen in Aussie conditions and thought that two wholesome but forty something year olds could do better.

And now you are reaping what you sowed.

That's how cricket works.

That didn't last long. I know bowlers win you matches, but you need some runs for that. :yk

Lols ifs and buts. Appealing anf fielding is part of the game, at least come up with better excuses.

This batting line is so depressing to watch. Consume so many deliveries without scoring, can't play on any sort of bouncy tracks, void of any flair and just a complete mismatch outside of uae

I doubt if Pakistan had taken all their catches Australia would be 51-4 in 30 overs.

Did you even read the post I was replying to? I'm saying it's not a 400 pitch, not making excuses.

Reading comprehension, how does it work?

Honest question.

You think this is a 51-4 pitch in 30 odd overs?

Look pak are dreadful outside of Asian. One of the worst batting lines ups who still play the game like its was the 90s.

Mark my word, no game will last more than 4 days and pak will be whitewashed once again in Australia

In cricket you basically get what you pay for.

Pakistan knew that batsmen in their forties never cope in Australia - indeed Adam Voges lost it at 37.

Yet they imagined that Younis and Misbah were immune to Father Time.

So numbers 4 and 5 scored four runs between them.

So predictable.

And the two batsmen and the selectors need to be held accountable for this predictable debacle - on a lovely batting track.

Even Bird and Lyon had quicker reflexes to handle the pace and bounce.

The Aussie bowlers are a class apart. Starc can get a wicket with every ball, and Hazelwood and Bird are getting seam movement, where the Pakistan bowlers only managed a bit of swing, but no seam movement.Seam movement is the biggest danger as a batsmen

Pakistan middle order is terrible for these conditions. YK and Misbah never attack seamers in UAE. They slog and sweep spinners all day, that was understandable. Pakistan is undone by bounce. One mistake by Babar, but largely it's the bounce that we have no answer too. This does not help that we have 40 years old middle order.
