Couldn't agree more, that series was some sort of perfect Storm of Pakistan playing above themselves and England well below. from memory, the 2 tests England won were comprehensive.

When they did get to number 1 I remember looking at the players in their side and shaking my head in disbelief, that those bunch of players represent the best team in the world. Didn't feel right.

England had a rough time with injuries + we got flat, dry pitches + no overcast conditions. A lot of factors went our away and we were made to look better than we actually were/are.

Had we played in May like Sri Lanka, when the pitches and overhead conditions were tougher, we would have been beaten like mules.

Imran was remembered because he draw three test series (one at their home) against mighty WIs, won against England and India at their home both first off Pakistan.
