Why are the Aussie bowlers so chubby? Harris and Siddle seem like football players more than cricketers.

Harris and Siddle are pretty big units. It's the frame. 6 to 6 foot 2 but very broad shoulders.
Sidds used to be a lumberjack in Gippsland.

Crucial time in the game now, we have probably brought it back to nearly par but Bell is the key wicket. And also we have to bat again which means below par.

Been a long time since I saw a Black player playing for England. Draft in Bopara/Patel and Morgan and you have a multinational team on your hands.

Australia are missing a token Asian or two, should drop Bailey for Khawaja and bring Fawad ahead of Lyon to win back the urn.

Carberry :out

superb bowling from MJ, went around the wicket, field set perfectly, worked him over for a couple of balls into the body and the 3rd across the left hander and was edged to slip

Jonson is much better off with his 3-4 overs of short bowling with full pace.

Johnson bowling with his tail up, heaps of chatter in the fielding circle. Root nearly goes

The mustache makes Johnson and Warner look like classical, gritty Aussies that instill fear in the heart of opponents. Should keep it beyond November.

Does Strauss have a speech impediment? Either that or he's trying way too hard to sell/hype this match.

Agreed. A mo should be mandatory to get selected.

Root looks very uncomfortable.

I can see why they didn't want him facing the new ball

Broadly will have to do some heroics with the bat well it seems

Memories of the desert.

In walks Prior, by far the most likable English player, in my opinion and one of their best bats.

For a wicket that everyone says is flat, England seem to be finding it hard to score. This is what the Gabba wicket is - you can play your shots but there's always something to keep the bowlers interested

Prior gone for a duck England six down that's a huge edge lol

Prior trying to do a Bambi...shame we still have a review lol

What a wonderful feeling seeing Aussies in full control.. What aggression! Loving it :)

Go Aussies

And onto the dressing room walks Prior, by far the most likable English player in my opinion and supposedly one of their best bats.

Very little England support here! James etc - pls report for duty!

Root looks like every bully's dream. Even Bangladesh would sledge him.

Good old Warney. Do you want an aggressive Root or a slow Root with the tail?

Never judge. First innings performance until both teams have batted. That's what I said after yesterday

Yesterday, James was calling Mitchell Johnson a mentally-weak cricketer, and while MJ can spray it around, his Stats can tell you how he can turn it around.

Go Australia!!

Need to not get carried away sledging Broad

Shh... He must not be named.

Looks like England don't realize that they're supposed to be the dominant Ashes team of this decade.

In walks Swann, who has been outbowled by the Lyon.

This is why the Gabba is one of the best wickets in world cricket IMO.

Yeah. I actually watched him play for WA live and although expensive (got 5/162) for the match he bowled very well.

He also bowls well when he bats well.

Lyon has also cemented himself in the team.

Eng created this pressure on themselves by not scoring anything for long time. They have been trying to survive.

You make it seek like its easy to score. It's not as easy as it looks at the Gabba it's not the Adelaide Oval.

Australia looks a completely different team compared to how they played in India and England earlier this year. Intensity is just wow!

This wicket is still decent for batting.

It's great bowling by both teams and some very poor batting. England's middle order seems intimidated by Johnson. Trott as well
