Australia vs India | 4th Test | Sydney | Jan 3-7, 2019 | Day 1 Thread

Two changes for Australia : Marnus Labuschagne and Peter Handscomb replacing Mitchell Marsh and Aaron Finch....

Is India going to make another selection blunder by picking two spinners on a greenish looking pitch ? ... but the other alternative of Umesh Yadav is not great either

India win the toss and bat first. KL Rahul replaces Rohit, Vihari at No. 6 and Kuldeep comes in for Umesh Yadav

India win toss and opt to bat .... KL Rahul and kuldeep yadav replace Rohit and Ishant

If Aus dont bowl out India for less than 250, they have lost the series.

If India dont win this series 3-1 after winning the toss again, they would have failed miserably.

Hopefully India doesn’t blow this chance ... Score more than 500 runs in two days and we are set ..

Pakistan made that mistake in the first test had we bowled first against SA. We would have won the match because last inning batting on such pitches becomes easier to bat as the bouncy and pace dies down.

With Rahul opening again, Aus have a chance for early breakthough. Get Kohli and Pujara in the first session too, they will have a chance to restrict.

The outcome of the series pretty much hinges on the first session.

Don’t know why Indians are insisting on opening with Rahul, he’s a walking wicket. This guy don’t know where his off stump is and fishes the ball a lot.

More pace and bounce at SCG. If this continues for the rest of the test, Indian batsmen wont find it easy.

lol India deserve to lose for putting KL Rahul up. He didn't look comfortable with ANY ball he faced. Let the guy recover from the trauma of his past before putting him back on the national team again.

Good over by Hazelwood who has been average this series so far.

Indians need to leave as many as possible for the first session and Aus need to keey Lyon away for a while.

Told u guys india made same mistake as pakistan. This era of indian batting side reminds of me our era when inzamam was used to be the only hope and india have kohli. Man i wish we can have a kohli for pakistan team, we badly need one in SA series.

not many here believe in the present ranking system. Do they?

Doesn't really matter what they believe in. Point being, Pakistan is a much weaker team compared to SA. The difference between India and Aus isn't that much.

Pakistan Team is not weak. Pakistan Batting have always been technically poor batsmen. And all the blame should go to our domestic structure and how we develop our batsmen for the international cricket. Compare to India, Aus, SA and England, they all have excellent domestic cricket structure, we need to invest to find good quality batsmens. All we need is good technique batsmen and we can dominate in overseas tours.

Cummings on early. This is the key spell of the first day imo.

Dont lose a wicket to Cummings, India will be well on top.

Hopefully Rahul is kicked out when Prithwi Shaw comes back from his injury, Shaw would have scored decent number of runs in this series.

This labuschagne is Australia ' s Moeen Ali.

Australia need a good spell by there bowlers here , a real effort spell , where they get 2 - 3 quick wickets .

India so far have done well , there scoring rate is good , an have lost only one batsman , all in form batters still out there , If Aussies want to win they need to get India all out for 200 here .

Good run rate for India despite losing Rahul early .... India 46/1 after 12 overs.
Drinks ....

Now a very good batting surface.

India unless they self-destruct have the series in the bag now.

Damn, SCG looks empty relative to what it usually looks like.

Has the sandpaper controversy hurt them that bad?

According to commentators it's the least bit of movement theres been in the first 8 overs of any innings this series.

Aussies should have made a green pitch , that was there best chance in all the Test matches. maybe they would still have lost , but at least they would have had chance

This new opener is pretty good, does look vulnerable against the short ball though.

Pujara has MOTS shewn up.

Everyone was talking up Kohli before the series but he's been the biggest obstacle for Aus.

Good tactic by India this series of batting time and scoring big.

Playing Starc has been ineffective , he has not looked like bowling even one single match changing spell.

Mayank Agarwal is looking good. He is turning out to be a good find for India.

I am really feeling sorry for KL Rahul. Dude has huge potential but something is seriously wrong and messing around with his head. I seriously hope, he goes back to the domestic and make it right.

Lunch Day 1 - India go into lunch on 69/1 with Mayank Agarwal and Pujara stitching a good partnership of 59 runs. Australia will be hoping to get some quick wickets after lunch. #AusvIND

What are Australia doing ?
Just banging in every ball half the track and pray Mayank will miscue one.

Marquee series. Dumb squad selection. Possibly the worst in my living memory. Quiet a few of them are unfit. Quiet few of them should have been dropped but given long rope. No replacement for injured people. But they still hang around. Karnataka, Mumbai lobbying has screwed up this tour.

3-1 India.

Australia don't look like taking a wicket and Australia's batsmen not good enough to handle to pressure and draw/win this match.

another solid knock by the newcomer. Seems like India has finally found a reliable test opener. :fifty
