Bangladesh (565 & 30/0) secure a historic Test win by 10 wickets against Pakistan (448/6d & 146) in the 1st Test match and lead the 2-match series 1-0

Shan has missed the trick here. Specialist Spinner would have knocked this team out in a hurry.
Just seen the score and see he's bowling Saim to a new batsman rather than putting him through a front line pacer.

Ah....yes a dead wicket equates to this.

Pakistan should've played a proper spinner. I was surprised they went in with 4 pacers.

This is clearly not a SENA green top pitch that warrants 4 pacers.
You can play 4 seamers in Pakistan but for that you need to have one of those old domestic pitches where 2-3 inches of grass is left and the game ends in 2 to 3 days.

I don't understand the panic; it's a flat track. Pakistan scored 448/6 and declared,

there's nothing extraordinary about Rizwan's performance either.

I think a spinner is needed always (even on a green top) to avoid slow over-rate.

Slow over-rate can cause points deduction in WTC. England lost many points due to slow over-rates.

England and Australia are literally 10-15 points down due to just that.

They went nowhere because of their lack of ability.

Isn't that stating the obvious? LOL.

Bangladesh are obviously not England or Australia.

Run-rate is 2.94. This is standard Test batting.

Please stick to IPL where Delhi Daredevils score 260 in 20 overs.

Bangladesh are rubbish whether the format is IPL or Test cricket. Doesn't make a difference. Least talented cricket nation unfortunately.

Commentators talking about new bowl again and again like this is an English pitch under clouds

Some of these BD players started playing cricket in 2007. When these guys started playing Pakistan had inzamam ul haq, moyo, YK etc. for Pakistan. Pakistan made runs at 4 an over even after 13/3.

BD - 242/5 (80 overs).

Pakistan are not taking the new ball yet. Continuing with the old ball.

10 runs off that over. BD might even fancy taking a lead here by 100 runs..

I think BD should just focus on taking it session by session. Not look at the scoreboard.

If they can get away with a draw, that would be an achievement considering the flat nature of the pitch and also BD's Test record.

Not sure why Khurram Shehzad is not given the ball.

At least he makes the batters play in the channel consistently.

There should be a column for Median speeeds
Agreed, even for batting averages. That's why I like HowsStat because they give median batting scores which is actually truly fascinating to examine.

e.g. Abdullah Shafique's Median test score is 19, whereas his average is 44. Shows that he has a couple of big scores that have propelled his average. It shows how inconsistent he has been so far.

The last 2 hours of first innings. Pak should’ve scored at least 100 more. They played at 2 runs per over. Which will haunt them now.

its not our pacers its the pitch i said before we will not beat Bangladesh we should be just happy after losing a toss we will draw as i thought we will lose. Even now i am more worried about them taking a lead and their spinners taking over.

Even if they paid them 1k per person to come and watch even then they won't. This is how bad the state of cricket is in the country.
Sitting on a shaadi hall chair in an uncovered stand with 35°C heat and hardly any decent food/drink facilities is not much fun.

Unbelievable in 2024 we have an international ground without proper seating.

Funnily enough PCB found enough funds for a new press box at Pindi a few years ago !

They should have roofs over those stands. Otherwise, too hot to be there.

If it's a flat flat pitch you don't declare early for whatever reason unless you have scored 550-600 to eliminate even 1% chance of an opposition victory. What's the point of declaring at 450+ on a super flat pitch where the opposition will most likely match your score and worse take a lead thus putting you under pressure to survive in the third innings.

You're being generous there with the temp it's actually 45.

Otherwise the rest you've said is facts.

Our bowlers are slower than BDs and just as skillless. SSA and Nas are already looking tired but aren't they supposed to be 21 and 24. Age faking is now killing PK

I think they thought BD would collapse and 448 was enough.

BD often collapse but they didn't collapse this time.

It's absurd in a country that primarily is a hot country has grounds with barely any roofs on top of them.

All grounds in PAK should have roofs as mandatory as they should be legal laws for this.

People would be cursing Pakistan if they hadn't declared citing Pakistan is going for a draw. Shan made the best decision to have a have at a result.

Naseem is not more than 24/25 even if you account for age fudging.

But BD being quicker was surprising.

Declaration timing was right. But, I thought Pakistan could've accelerated a bit more and maybe reach 500 at that time.

Pakistan declared with 4 wickets in hand with Rizwan and Shaheen both going strong, BD will not declare here but will bat till they are All Out , taking full advantage of 10 wickets thus most likely matching Pakistan's score in the first innings or worse taking a small lead.

If that happens then Pakistan will be batting for survival under pressure in the third innings where they can't afford to collapse or get to another 16/3.

Does it make sense to make an early declaration and play for survival to draw the match in the third innings ?

He is definitely in his mid 20s and showing little appetite for the fight.
His pace and accuracy drops in later spells. We have seen this in the past as well.

Shaheen should be the bigger worry though. No pace from ball 1. His regression is shocking.

Khurram may not be the quickest but he's clearly the most accurate and skilled bowler in this attack.

People aren’t talking about Shaheen’s downfall. It’s massive and hurting Pakistan. He’s literally the slowest amongst the all bowlers today and hasn’t got a wicket yet.

This is why it's pointless to prepare such pitches for Test.

I don't mind video game pitches being prepared for odi and t20, But test is genuinely an amazing format.

It's the one format where you eagerly await a spicy contenst between the bat and ball.

England would have bazzballed pakistan or Bangladesh into oblivion on here.

In his last Test, in Aus, he took 6 wickets. So I guess they were going by that.

Tbh, I would prefer Mir Hamza in the next game ahead of Shaheen.

Umm, I think plenty of people are talking about it mate. It's no 2 trending topic. No 1 being rizwan, But rizwan has been no 1 trending since the dawn of 2020 so ain't no one dethroning that.

Agree.

ICC should crack down on flat pitches.

Test pitches should always be spicy. It makes the experience better.

It would work if we had an express Mark Wood type of bowler because we could reply on that extra pace to take wickets. But we don't.

Maybe we just under-estimated Bangladesh, or over-estimated our bowling?

worse he is not even accurate at that pace

That was prior to him being replaced as captain.

Honestly he was regressing even in 2023 but he's regressed further.

I'm starting to see a saeed Anwar in Shaheen now, In that he seems to have genuinely lost all interest in international cricket atleast.

You can tell its not just a lack of form unlike 2023 wc where he was giving it his all just being belted.

It's a genuine loss of interest now

Even wood on these pitches would not trouble top teams. He'd trouble us but we ain't a top team.

Bangladesh have a weak and inexperienced top 3. I think the middle order should move one position up.

yes but is the average what counts does it not?

our captain averages 28 or 29 i believe am i right?

That's a good point. Losing the captaincy probably deflated his enthusiasm in the game

Bowling this many overs may be a shock to the system of guys like Naseem shah. Pakistan would hope he doesn't pick up a niggle or two. What happened to that guy Jamal?

"Naseem Shah has asked to bowl short"
I like that ploy, but the issue is, is that the lad is only bowling 136kph
