Bangladesh (565 & 30/0) secure a historic Test win by 10 wickets against Pakistan (448/6d & 146) in the 1st Test match and lead the 2-match series 1-0

You know I've honestly forgetten the last time Pakistan won something and I actually felt good?

I can only think of NZ vs Pakistan 2023 wc game.

It seems it truly is fakhar or bust now adays
 
I knew the pitch was a phatta when likes of saim and saud scored runs .

There's absolute nothing in the pitch for pace or spin .

They need to protect this cabal of batsmen because they can't create a sporting wicket where they get exposed we know our nepotistic selection of batsmen can't play spin pace or bounce

If we go by this logic, we have get rid off all the players who have represented Pak in last 1-2 years. You will left with very few names. Also Pak doesn't have any Bradman and Sobers warming the bench. The problem is not the wrong players chosen, the problem is dearth of talent suited for international standards.

Wrong comparison. He was batting against the new ball and had to be watchful. Pakistan was 16/3. While Rizwan entered in a different situation.
 
Next game Shan and company should go with 2 specialist spinners and 3 pace bowlers.

Just because we don't have replacement it doesn't mean useless players like Babar and Shaeen can't be dropped. Any average batsman can score 20-30 runs or an average bowler can take 1-2 wickets.
 
I feel extremely sorry for the Pakistani fans who lived to see a day they are dying to see a wicket fall vs Bangladesh of all the teams in the world. Truly sad state of affairs.

Saim entered in the most difficult phase of the game, The rain made it difficult to bat early on but the pitch soon dried up, Rizzu had it easy.

However with that being said saim batted rubbish once he got his 50, theirs no excuse for what the kid was doing
 
Pakistan need to risk losing in order to win Tests.

Making flat pitches is OK when you have X factor bowlers like Bumrah and Kuldeep and a legit. 5th bowling option like Ash/Jadeja.

You can't make flat pitches with only 4 bowlers of such low quality. They need helpful pitches to pick 20 wickets.
 
Great chance for Mushfiqur to hit a double ton vs couple of 155 kmph pacers who are at peak of their careers, one of them aged 24 years and turned into a baby born father at such an early age while the other is 21 year old, and has seen ups and downs in his career already.

PCB deserved this humiliation. Players' power is way too much now-a-days in Pakistan. A coach/selector cannot drop non-performing players. Players get away with poor performances for years and coaches/selectors are used as scapegoat. Need someone like Ijaz Butt or Haturi as coach to dismantles all these mafia groups. Both Gillepsie/Kristen are there for show and will be removed within a year. I have seen this since 2019 and nothing changes.

Do you really think we can win even against Bangladesh in fast/spin pitches. You cannot win test matches with 2 batsmen. Afghanistan will eat this parhci team alive in spin tracks and also win comfortably in fast bowling pitches.
 
With a century by Mushfiq and 50+ scores by two other batsmen, this is actually a very good fightback by Bangladesh. Shows why Pakistan is such a mediocre test side. They can't dominate over weaker sides like Bangladesh even on their own home soil. Good test sides must be unbeatable at home.

It's not just the pitch, the bowling is also rubbish. Idc if you're batting on the flattest pitch in the world, Mehdi hasan miraj shpuld not be able to get a 40 on any surface.
 
BD should declare 20 overs before the end of the play and get 3-4 wickets of ours. Its not hard to get rid of Saim/Babar/Shan.
 
Most likely next series Babar will return as captain and it will continue. Not sure why all the managements have issue with Abrar.
 
Bangladesh is in the driving seat IMO. They can score quick runs to get 150-200 lead and then can smoke Pakistan batting in 2 sessions and win. Historic it is gonna be.
 
High team ICC steps in and saves Test Cricket. Only New Zealand, India, England, South Africa and Australia should play Test Cricket.

Allowing mediocre teams like Pakistan, Bangladesh etc damages the reputation of Test Cricket which is the highest standard of cricket.
 
A couple of days ago I said this game is heading for a draw

Whilst that is probably still the most likely outcome I'm not ruling out a Bangladesh win
 
Babar should be under scanners for deliberately drop this catch. He wants Shan to fail so he can take back his captaincy.
 
Why our players are going crazy, luaghing, joking hugging each other for no reasons. I know you have to find substance when you are on a same routine for a longer time. But they need to show some seriousness on taking wickets

I think they are deliberately trying to loose so Bobzy the king can return as a captain with full team selection authorities. Why Gillepsie/Kristen are humiliating themselves to be a part of these circus?

This is smart tactics by Shan Masood. He is teaching his fast bowlers to not run behind milestones. As soon as Naseem hit the nervous 90 mark, captain removed him from attack and gave the bowl to Shaheen who is still a long way from hitting a ton.

I like this strategy from Masood and everyone across the world, particularly Indians, should take a leaf out of it and not run behind milestones. Team's success should be the ultimate goal.

Shan is not Shaheen, He can't easily be shoved aside like that. Saud will be made next captain if Shan fails too much.

Also I don't think Babar himself is even interested in test captaincy, he only wants white ball captaincy.
 
To be honest Naseem is just another hype and most cases get exposed when playing against big teams or flat pitches.

Not taking anything away from misbah. I rate him. He was great for Pakistan in general. For test cricket.

But Pakistan were number 1 for like 2 weeks max.

He's not that bad. Yes he's overrated, but he isn't a bad bowler.

If the pitch was curated properly he'd do well. He bowls good line and length, he gives it his all every game, Even qith the bat he tries and he has cone through for pakistan againat Afghanistan.

Even against India alot of people were wondering why our batsmen couldn't tonk a few and bat like he could? All that was needed was a few shots to win.

He's a good cricketer and we should respect someone who does his best for the team.

He's not a generational star or a great bowler but he's a decent defensive option for pakistan and not a bad pick by any means. Until pakistan start making insaan kei bachei walei pitches, Medicore bowlers and medicore batters is all we got.

Honestly pakistan shpuld genuinely move psl and take all their games back to UAE. Pur best cricketers in 2017 came because they improved in UAE.
 
Bangladesh should not even try to win this Test. Just keep getting overs into their bowlers' legs and bury them as much as possible in this heat.

Will take its toll on their bodies for the next Test as well.

Misbah had chuckers + an All time great and the same players who were flopping in odi somehow miraculously did wonders in UAE test like ahmed shehzad, Azhar Ali and Asad shafiq.

He isn't as great as people think he is.

He's an okay batter for Test who has played a few gems and was always a terrific onfield captain in every format.

But the guy is genuinely clueless on how to build a team. His personal decisions related to Dropping UA and Afridi for ct 2013 were a huge slap in the face when a couple of months later afridi would diamanté WI with career best figures while in ct 2013 pakistan lost to WI and before CT barely scrapped by Scotland and Ireland.

Same slap in the face for him stubbornly stating jamshed > Sarfi in wc 2015, and that sarfi your best run getter against australia in odi is not good enough and jamshed and shafiq are better? He didn't even take shafiq at the end lol.

Similarly his coaching stint is riddled with moronic decisions such as Shehzad and UA fir t20, Rizwan as opener, chacha as premium finisher, Going back to Azhar Ali for Test captaincy etc etc.

Ontop of which a crapola record in test putside UAE.

Luck + Salman butt evil nostalgia factor to test rank no 1 has overrated this beyond belief.

He's an okay test bat, Terrific onfield captain in all formats and a crapola team manager who got lucky that the crapola players in odi happened to miraculously work averaging 40+ in test.
 
Bangladesh 47 runs lead...last session if they make some 120 runs, then Pakistan will be in huge problem to save this test,as bangladeshi having good spinners

I think Bangladesh should bat until 1st hour tomorrow and declare. With around 200+ lead and first thing in the morning our batsmen will fail in swing and will loose at least 3-4 wickets in first hour and will be all out before tea.
 
I said before batting wicket will ensure a boring one sided match. But Pak bowling looks to have fallen very low in this match.

This BD team would not have batted like this against the top 5 teams on any wicket. They did not have much time to practice because of the tention in the country also I don't think all of the players have their head in this game because of the recent flood in BD. Many of the player's relatives are suffering

As I've said repeatedly , 2024 is the year Test match cricket dies and its crashing and burning thanks to the lack of talent/competitiveness of many sides including even SA and NZ.

There's a difference. That team had season Test class players like YK, Misbah himself, Azhar, Yasir etc.

You can make anyone coach/captain and the team won't improve because the players simply don't exist.
 
Bangladesh should play till end of the day today and get a lead of 200-250 and then let Pakistan bat tomorrow. Who knows we might see a result tomorrow. Whoever took the decision to go with all pace attack must be fired. You can't play a test match without specialist spinner. Shaheen & Babar must be dropped for betterment of Pakistan cricket

People forget azhar, YK, Yasir were all playing FC for a very long time and in case of YK he was playing Test all across the planet while Misbah was still begging Inzi to let him into the team.back In the 2000's.

All these guys have proper county, International, FC local and international experience.
 
Just like India produces rank turners from day 1 look at the history of Pak pitches flattest pitches on the planet. How can anyone expect Perth or old Trafford style of pitches overnight.

Test cricket is dead in Pakistan with such pitches

I heard Hyderabad used to have decent pitches for spinners. Recently 5 star PC Hotel opened, an airport exists. They need to revamp the stadium to make it test cricket standard.

I don't blame any young Pakistani fast bowler who is shying away from test cricket.

I know people have qualms against Misbah. Frankly I was not in favor of Misbah's role as a Selector + Coach either.

You have to look at the current Pakistani team, the board and trajectory of the team. Misbah's involvement in red ball Cricket in any position has been a net positive. He's one of the few guys in the country who understands the game, tactics, strategies, fitness standard and demand of the game. He's not those very old ex Cricketers. He's very much involved in modern game. He's well educated. He stays fit and plays Cricket himself even at 50.

I don't want him to have a complete non-accountable role like Ramiz to do whatever one wants. You can keep him away from the limited overs side if you think he's not good enough and that we have better options. Fair enough. But his red ball experience and record speaks for itself.

Players and fans may not like him because of the strict fitness and discipline standard he will bring. But what they don't understand is that he is not a tyrant. That's the demand of the game now.

Guys like him should be involved in a big role with the red ball team. All due respect to Gillespie but he does not understand the Pakistani team culture, country culture and the domestic circuit. It will probably take him years to get some grasp.

Oh please, this is just revisionism at its best. Misbah is one major one factor, Pak cricket is in the state it is.
