Won the 2nd test at Pune by 113 runs .

This is Tom Latham First series as full time Captain.

Dominated very opposition.

And it's the end of a beautiful streak to remember forever as an Indian Cricket fan.

But what are the reason behind this humiliation series lost against NZ ?

Rohit and Virat Kohli decline or Ash - Jadeja rare off series a home or bumrah ineffective yet again against NZ .

A seismic shock in world cricket.

New Zealand came and dismantled, trampled and battered India into submission in a manner nobody could have expected.

Congratulations firstly to Kiwis, and their supporters all around the world.

Wow! Epic Series win!

Really never thought Blackcaps could achieve something like this at this moment of time, especially after Sri Lanka just smashed them. Ive said the following in another post :

After New Zealand missed out on winning the 2015, 2019, and also strong in 2023 ODI WC, as well as 2021 T20WC and 2022T20WC (thats a long list)

I thought they were going to decline with a change in generation, but their great series in India suggests otherwise. Glen Phillips looks like he has transitioned to into a fantastic all-rounder, and I have already said how Rachin is on route to becoming New Zealand's GOAT batsman.

Their fast-bowlers, and replacing Southee, Boult, Wagner and soon Henry, seems to be the biggest challenge right now, but O'Rourke looks great - judging by the scorecards...

Lol hahahah fun stuff. It's great can't get better than that indians rondu shakal is amazing to see.

Keep crying. Hahahah

For 7 years I was thinking of what hypothetical world XI needs to be assembled to beat India in India.
And every year assembling a different XI that would have somewhat of a chance.

Now kiwis have done it and its not like the team is full of star players, they just played high quality cricket.

The reason is simple. I was your Karma and your reckoning.

An empire has fallen.

By far, the greatest series victory in the history of this game. Before this series, India had a win-loss record of 42-4-7 in Test cricket at home since 2013.

New Zealand had not away a Test in India in 36 years.

A KIWI Miracle.

The greatest underdogs in cricket have breached the fortress. The juggernaut has been halted. Destroyed. A monumental day in the history of test cricket.

What an year for the sport.

Windies winning at the Gabba.
Sri Lanka winning a test in England.
Bangladesh beating Pakistan
Pakistan winning a series against England.

2024 is The year of the upsets.

Test cricket may be dying but it is not going down without a fight.

This series win proved that WTC final win was nothing compared to a test series win in india.
You are probably right in some way

but the WTC is a valid way to bring purpose as a competition to teams just randomly playing test series whenever they like, and a great way to reward the best Test team in the world.

The reasons why it hasn't been as good as I thought it would be:

- It has been introduced waaaaaaaay too late in cricket - WTC should've been created at least 40 years ago - but no point talking about this point

The more important reasons that essentially destroy this WTC tournament:

1) Not everyone is playing everyone - apart from India vs Pakistan (unfortunately), everyone should be playing everyone - 4 teams home and 4 teams away

2) Everyone is playing a different number of matches - It should be that every team plays 24 matches, 12 home and 12 away, only 3-match series are allowed, no 2, no 4, no 5-match series even for the "amazing" ashes and also for BGT and others.

3) The final must be 3-matches, 1-match is a straight-up contradiction to the whole point of the WTC and its format

Additionally:

The points table and system is so hard to look at for the eye. It should be simple as this:

6 points if a team wins a test match

3 points if a team draws/tie/no result for a test match

0 points if a team loses a test match - and since we have an uneven number of matches per team, the win percentage is a must to have.

----------------------------
But yeah in conclusion there is nothing we can do about it, it doesnt matter how long our posts are going to be...

That 46 AO was unexplainable. However overall this was probably due to aging players who are no longer able to perform as they once did.
Really? It was a wet wicket.
Against a relentless attack. This Indian setup has always been vulnerable against movement.

Nothing surprising about that performance.

Not enough to explain 46. That's one of the lowest totals in cricket history.

New Zealand always find a way to humble India when their heads are in the clouds. It is one of the beautiful constants of cricket.
  • 2013-14 Test and ODI series
  • T20 WC 2016
  • ODI WC 2019
  • 2019-20 Test and ODI series
  • WTC Final 2021
  • 2024 Test series

Very well explained . Theses day's quality of post is decreasing day by day but this post deserve to be applauded .

NZ came after facing raging turners in SL. Then Rohit handed them a test on a platter by batting first in Bangalore.

This was bound to happen.

About time someone tell Kohli that playing for India is a full time job that cannot be done by staying in UK.

Rohit is 38 and time to go.

Should be the end for KL and Siraj.

NZ did a complete professional job, from 46 AO to India always catching up it ended as smooth as Gulberg' signature moves, Military Press to Spear to JackHammer

amazing win by new zealand, but a worrying look into the possible future of indian cricket post ash and jaddu. those two are a cheat code in home conditions, like india is playing with 13 players. india lost because those two didnt perform.

What a pathetic team India has to be. Now they are losing to foreign teams at home, such a pathetic team

What are the reason behind end of home dominance ?
what is the way forward for india now as we are facing the 2012 like situation.
I think its time for India to admit that players like Rohit, Kohli and Rahul have reached the end of the line for their test careers. Just like India discarded Rahane and Pujara, they should have the guts to do the same with them. They have been amazing performers for Indian cricket (I guess maybe not Rahul) but they look finished in this format. India should take positives from the performances of players like Jaiswal, Pant and Sarfaraz and give chances to other domestic performers like Easwaran perhaps? The unbeaten home streak was the only thing keeping the senior players safe. Now that it has ended, India can go for a full-blown rebuild. I would eventually phase out Jadeja and Ashwin for Axar and Washington too.

Congratulations New Zealand. Throughly well deserved test match and series win.

Nz deserved this series, they made India look like a C grade side.

Handed India's rear end back to them on a royal platter..

Oh and bye bye Kohli...

We are not talking about Pakistan team who are used to lose every series at home.

:kp
The loss hurts for you I understand so you have to bring up Pakistan because you have you pak addiction I cant blame you where that amazing but for now focus on wiping a billion tears and getting some rest this shall pass too

Well NZ. Beating a great Ind team is a historic achievement. I remember the NZ tour to Ind in 1988( hazily) and although i Remembered Hadlee breaking some record( it may have been the World record),I didn't remember the win. An amazing achievement

I was expecting a hard fought series, but India seemed ready to surrender after the first test loss to New Zealand. The home pitch advantage surprisingly worked against them, and in the second test, the Indian batters appeared clueless. Many of them threw their wickets away, indicating poor shot selection and a lack of strategy. The inclusion of KL Rahul in the first test match seemed to be a political decision, taking away a spot from a more deserving player. In cricket, when politics comes into play, the cricketing gods have a way of punishing teams that stray from honest selection.
Unfortunately, it looked like the great Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were past their prime, struggling to recapture the form that once made them dominant. The players didn’t seem enthusiastic about playing under Gautam Gambhir as coach, which might have affected their motivation and focus. Even the world class Jasprit Bumrah seemed off his game, appearing overweight and struggling to maintain pace around 135 kph after being overworked with extended spells in the first Test.
This New Zealand team, while solid, isn’t considered exceptional enough to dominate India in the manner they did. Yet, they exposed India’s batting fragility time and again. It will be interesting to see how India responds in the next series, but truly great teams always find a way to bounce back.

4331 Days of Dominance Comes Crashing! India Incur First Home Test Series Loss Since 2012

All good things come to an end. Well, a twelve-year tenure is a good period for a good thing to last. Or so the Indian Cricket Team will tell themselves, as their undefeated streak of wins in Tests at home came to a bitter end against New Zealand in the second Test at Pune.

India have been impenetrable at home in Tests, having made it nearly impossible for teams to even fathom defeating them in the sub-continent.

Many have come with their might, such as the mighty Australia, and the enterprising England, but none managed to achieve what the Kiwis have this year,

With India’s loss in the second Test to New Zealand, New Zealand went up 2-0 in the three-match series, thereby sealing their first-ever Test series win in India, while also handing India their first-ever Test series loss at home since 2012.

In simpler terms, India were undefeated in Tests for a whopping 4331 days at home, a feat unparalled.

But, today it all came crashing for India.

Mitchell Santner was merely unstoppable, as the wily spinner wove nothing but trouble for the Indians, with two sensational fifers in the match, nothcing up a magical ten-wicket haul for the ages.

Rohit Sharma and co. failed to capitalise on the tantalizing start they were off to, thanks to a young blistering Yashasvi Jaiswal, and inherently crumbled to the pressure, handing NZ a 113-run win and an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

The Last Time India Lost A Test Series At Home

It was in late 2012, when England toured India for a four-match Test series, when India tasted a series defeat at home for the last time.

India won the first Test by 9 wickets, and it seemed that the hosts would continue the domination at home.

Ravi Shastri said while commentating on the game:

"Rohit Sharma will not take this lightly. he might look very relaxed but deep down he will be hurting."

If NZ do a whitewash here, BCCI will do a major surgery.

Rohit, Ashwin, Jadeja careers in Tests will be over.

BGT is coming up shortly , 5-0 lose against australia will be final nail in the coffin.

Rohit , Virat , Ash, Jaddu all need to be discarded permanently.

What are the reason behind end of home dominance ?

Its a mixture of multiple things mate.

1. Our superstar players like Kohli and Rohit are at their last leg.

2. For last couple of years, Ashwin and Jadeja saved us multiple times. They had a rare poor series this time and the result is for all to see.

3. The inability to play spin by youngsters like Gill and Jaiswal

4. Filling the team with players like Sarfaraz Khan who doesn't belong at this level and dropping Klassy Rahul.

5. Umpires acting as 12th man of NZ by giving every decision in favour of Kiwis.

6. Last but not the least, constant jinxing by Pak and BD posters here outscored your anti jinxing skills.

Well deserved and well prepared, top performance from them, the issues of Rohit and Kohli has finally come to bite us.

Some positives for India are Sarfraz, Pant, Washington across the test matches.

Two low first innings scores cost them the game in each test.

India's three main players Ashwin, Jadeja and Bumrah failed to deliver too.

But it shouldn't be all doom and gloom. Some changes to the batting and the team will be back to a good level soon.

What's even more surprising is it's 2 pastings handed out. NZ have a limited talent pool, cricket is their 3rd/4th sport and their board doesn't have a wealth of funds yet they keep punching above their weight class.

Wait, which series did Eng lose in 2021 ? As far as I know, Eng haven't lost a home series since 2014.

What NZ has achieved is extra ordinary. India with their fast pacy bouncy rank turners are a nightmare for visiting western teams.

I believe India was more switched on for the English series, they probably felt NZ in comparison would be a cakewalk especially since NZ were without Kane Williamson.

Both Rohit and Kohli don't really seem to have that hunger anymore. They have achieved everything. I doubt they will be around for the 2027 ODI WC and they have both already retired from T-20's. Does India really feel they are needed for test cricket and that India doesn't have young capable replacements?

Also watched Bhumrah bowling, he looked tired and well below his usual pace.

I never thought that it would be the Kiwis out of all teams to beat the hell out of India at their home. Trapped them using spin which was India's stronghold. reality is Indian bowlers failed badly along with date-expired batters.

I called his appointment a recipe for disaster, but I never anticipated it to unfold THAT quickly 😂 Another feather in the “tactical genius” Gautam Gambhir’s cap!

Yeah you are right they are missing the Iconic and marquee test series win in Kabul under gunfire :ROFLMAO: ... Other than that ... lets see:

1. Multiple whiteball Worldcup winners.
2. Only team to win 4 back-to-back test series against Aussies.
3. Countless mauling of arch rivals in worldcups lol

Thats pretty much what there is to achieve in the world of International Cricket. Not one single other test playing nation can claim to have achieved both of those. If you want to claim there is anything else thats more important than that then the first order of business for you would be to get acquainted with Cricket 101. Let me assure you .... your team will never ever get to see that kind of achievement.

Congrats New Zealand. If there was a team that I expected to break the streak it would have been Australia

It will be very difficult for Australia to beat Australia 4 times back to back so point 2 doesn't really stand.

Also why is this even a criteria haha

Anyone can make up these random criteria.

Your head is buried so deep in the ground it will take an ARAMCO drill to get it out.

Both Kohli and Rohit are below 50 averaging Test batsmen and India have won 0 Test series in England, South Africa and New Zealand and also got thrashed in back to back WTC Finals, a tournament they have won 0 times.

Not to mention, both have failed to win an ODI World Cup in their prime. Three attempts (2015, 2019, 2023) and three failures.

So yes, I repeat: both Kohli and Rohit have not even come close to achieving everything.

for aus that would be beating Ind in Ind

Also why is this even a criteria haha

Winning a Test Series against Aus anywhere let alone in Aus is one of the toughest assignments winning 4 of them back to back has never happened. Not even the WI team of the 80s managed that. You should know after having bagled multiple times lol

You can use the Afghan example :ROFLMAO:

Why not 3 times in a row or 6 times in a row or 8 times or 10 times or England or South Africa.

It's completely random and unnecessary.

If you stick to established criteria ( ICC tournaments world rankings etc) then India is amongst the best (3rd rank historically imo) so making up these other things just makes you look a bit silly.

I will go easy on you ... find me one team that has won 4 Test series back to back against Aussies. Once you have done that then look at WC. There is exactly Zero players that can claim to have done that combination.

Yeah sure you can come with a similar combo like Win in Kabul and Dublin and Dhaka. :ROFLMAO:

You can go as hard as you want. I can handle a dozen delusional, unintelligent and inarticulate people like you at the same time.

Tell me where it’s written that winning 4 consecutive Test series vs Australia defines the greatness of a team, especially a team that has won nothing in England, South Africa and New Zealand?

And England have won 7 consecutive Test series vs Australia at one point in their history, so you made a factually incorrect statement. Yes of course, you can cover your tracks now because of terms & conditions and all. Keep trying.

Why not 3 times in a row or 6 times in a row or 8 times or 10 times or England or South Africa.

More the merrier ehh ? But maybe should try starting from 1 .... the count for your team is currently ZERO and is unlikely to come remotely close for a long long time.

No it is not. Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon are on record lamenting not having won BGT against india for 10+ yrs. When was the last time you had a Aussie team that had vast majority of its players never been part of a series win against a top Test playing nation ? Aus has always been the benchmark in Cricket therefore it makes perfect sense to see how your team competes with them.

Read my post again slowly. 4 Test Series vs aus PLUS worlcup. Let me know how you make out lol. Why those 2 well those are the toughest cricketing accomplishments. Throw in the bageling of your team at worlcups and thats a accomplishement you will give an arm and leg for your team to manage in your lifetime. Good luck

Congratulations To NewZealand.
no one expected such a comprehensive towelling. They have played with spirit, skill, intensity and enterprise and have totally outplayed india in all departments.
Kudos to them.

NZ has mopped the floor with India. Quite a thrashing in Test where they even had them all out for 46 in India that's huge!, and there is one more Test still to go. These regular mopping is why India has and will never be able to dominate cricket like Aussies or West Indies. Indian fans like to think their team is the best of the best in their delusional minds but such defeats are a good reminder of what they aren't

More the merrier ehh ? But maybe should try starting from 1 .... the count for your team is currently ZERO and is unlikely to come remotely close for a long long time.
Pakistan has won test series against Australia I'm not sure where you got zero from.

You are mixing up your own criteria again aren't you?

If NZ do a whitewash here, BCCI will do a major surgery.

Rohit, Ashwin, Jadeja careers in Tests will be over.
Ashwin and Jadeja are still doing well in patches although Ashwin's batting is no longer reliable. After 12 Years bound to happen.
VK ang RGS have done it since last 13 Years. Both have been been match winners even outside Asia in ODIs.
All these guys are 36-37-38.
Baffling is that how BKL Rahul play 52 matches with 0 match winning performance anywhere .

Pakistan has won test series against Australia I'm not sure where you got zero from.

You are mixing up your own criteria again aren't you?

Yes I know but not currently and definitely never away. Infact Pakistan has only won 7 test series vs Aus since they first started playing in the 1950s. Thats about one series per decade. The last win happened in 2018 and since then you have lost three series back to back

So the only way you can claim to have accomplished the same achievements is to significantly reduce the margins like one series followed by Worldcup both featuring your fav players ... not going to happen lol.

Infact you might not even have 4 back to back Test series wins against SL or WI. This is the difference.
