What's new

England [224/2] beat Australia [223] by 8 wickets to reach the final of the 2019 World Cup

There’s too many matches where he’s asleep in between and then finds his mojo.

I still think it’s too early to call him an ODI ATG; he needs to maintain that average for five more years and then he can surely be called one.

Too early to call him ATG? He is arguably already the GOAT bowler in ODIs, lmao who is this guy hahaha

Lol :)))

All his tweets have been bang on.

Prescient.

Should have given it not out.
Aus had a review. If they really thought he hit it they would have used it

Dharmasena was shaking when Aussies were appealing, reminded me of Sharjah when Sachin used to bash him, he used to look like a puppy. Same reaction today but with glasses on :shafiq2

Jofra is telling it like it is.

Samgakara didn’t even talk about the wrong decision and said good take by Carey. Supporting his countryman :sanga

70 more to go. England should play sensibly and not try any risky shots. They have 27 more overs.

You're telling me a bowler who averages 20 and has picked up more than 2 wickets per game is "hot or cold" :))

If you were talking about tests, then yes I would agree he can be a little inconsistent, but still a very proficient red ball bowler.

But in respect of ODIs this is pathetic insight.

If you look at the stats, you will see that he averages 35+ in a few series since the last WC.

He’s great when on song but like today, can be match-losing when he gets it wrong.

I would like to have seen Archer replace "zac" with "Alex Hales".

I still remember Hasan Ali getting Morgan out.

Man how time changes.

No, not pushing. He is arguably GOAT and that's being humble.

Better than Waz, McGrath, Garner, guys who also averaged 20 for multiple years?

Right now, Starc doesn’t need to prove anything except longevity and consistency.

A great WC goes a long way in establishing a player but does little to make up for the cracks otherwise.

England shouldn't try anything fancy.

58 more to go. They have 26 overs and 8 wickets.

Stop posting about this topic if you have no knowledge

Starc has 3 more overs (including this over). Cummins has 3 overs.

Just see them off and it should get easier.

Yes, because this is a batting friendly era where bowling average is 33. Anybody who think Starc isn't better than the ones you mentioned are delusional, which includes you. Please stop analyzing cricket, it's not for you.

Root is looking in good form. Wouldn't surprise me if he played a big knock in the final.

Aussies want this to end quickly now, outplayed today.

England in the World Cup final at Lords, perfect. :wg

World XI winning this. Humiliating win using foreigners :yk Mamoon

New winner this year. England deserves to win the WC. But again if NZ wins toss and puts up a good total....

Yes. Win for multiculture, not for England :genius:

Haha. Gun team and gun planning. Had a few obstacles but this is the best lineup in history. I had my doubts but damn...this game proves they are cut above the rest.

Starc better than Waz, Mcgrath, Garner etc?

Easy on the good stuff mate.

Waxing lyrical about the mental strength of this Australian team based on the exploits of the 2000’s side was never going to end well.

This Australian side is average minus 2-3 big players. Their support players are inferior to England’s support players.

England have proved why they are the #1 ODI team.

Aussies did well in this WC considering the state they were in a while ago. They were #6 in ODI ranking.

They sure have assembled a good team from a massive talent pool (world) :yk

Changing their game plan because of criticism over the social media would have been curtains for England. They stuck to their guns and it has paid-off.

Their success is a lesson for teams like Pakistan. There is no substitute for preparation and proper planning.

I know this was a shocking decision but Roy shouldn't have reacted like this. He can miss a key final.

He will get a demerit but won't miss the final. They need to review the review system. An idiot ruined a once in a lifetime scinitillating hundred against arch rivals in a freakin WC SF at home. I would have knocked his head off.

They set the template for all teams. No bits and pieces. Have proper batsman until 7 and attack attack attack. Amazing

Their ranking is misleading because they didn’t have Smith and Warner for a year. A full strength Australian side is good enough to be 3rd. They are inferior to England and India but on par (if not better) than New Zealand.

Whether PP likes England or not , you have to admit they deserve it. They have had a plan , picked players for the right roles . Also been consistent in their selection.

I think they will win the final and it's fully deserved.

Can we expect Pakistan to follow the route which England followed after the 2015 WC debacle?

I hope so...

England have only 1 bowler. Their batting is tremendous though. Perhaps the most destructive top 6 in the history of the game.

You are correct. They were extremely bad without Warner and Smith.

Four years of hard work will be rewarded.

Pakistan doesnt have the talent pool and neither can they poach players from other nations like England.

Yes. They punched above their weight. Same issues as In dia though. One batsman dominating the entire worldcup failed in the SF and the soft underbelly failed when it matters. Aussie middle order is bad too

You can be good in ODIs with 1 good bowler and a couple of average bowlers, if you have as much depth as England.

We have loads of talent.

It is only they don’t get selected and they (the selected ones) are not mentally strong enough to perform continuously.

In this era its True. However, if the opposition cashes in on the lack of good bowlers, the batsmen will not always bail them out. Eg. Eng vs Pakistan.

You are telling me their are players of the caliber of Roy, Bairstow, Hales, Morgan, Root, Butler in Pakistan??

What was the pitch like during Aus batting? Or they were plain bad?
Quite uneventful SF this one!

Well England's bowling isn't bad anymore with the inclusion of Archer, Woakes and Plunkett are decent as well. I can see them dominating a few more years as well.

Aussies should have tried slower balls during the first 10 overs. They didn't bowl many slower balls today.

Everyone was talking about England's bowling being weak. It's actually their bowling which has been stronger than their batting.

You are telling me their are players of the caliber of Roy, Bairstow, Hales, Morgan, Root, Butler in Pakistan??

All of them hadn’t God-gifted talent.

They have worked hard to be where they are at the moment.

So why can’t we groom the talent which we have into our ‘Stokes’, ‘Buttler’ and ‘Roy’?

They get the job done. Archer is a star but Woakes is good with the new ball, Wood is a solid enforcer and Rashid-Moeen isn’t the worst spin pair around.
