England (246 & 420) secure a tense 28-run victory over India (436 & 202) in the 1st Test in Hyderabad

Got to get this target below 200 without losing a wicket and then take it from there in small intervals.

Any decent bowling attack can defend this total but not sure about this England bowling attack can win the match

Most of 1st innings Indian wickets were due to poor shot rather than good bowling so big test for England bowling attack .

Indian team though win this match but they are not impressive,, a rationale team selection from England would have made the difference..

WICKET! Jaiswal c Pope b Hartley 15 - India 42-1

The breakthrough! Hartley goes for the shorter delivery and he clips it straight up to a waiting Pope.

Of course that man is involved once again!

I can understand Jaiswal is a noob and he is still a bit raw. But Gill has played enough. No excuses for him.

Gill is massively overrated.

Jais-ball and fake prince depart. If England can get Rohit quickly they'll be on top

Gill poor form continue .India 42/2
Expect Rahul to get out soon as he cant perform under pressure

WICKET! Gill c Pope b Hartley 0 - India 42-2

Two wickets in the over. Hartley again. Pope again. Unbelievable stuff!

Pope stays low at silly point to take a brilliant catch. That double strike for Hartley will fill him with confidence, too.

2 wkts down....real presure situation.....
the 'locals' should be coming out any moment in fine voice now...
But Windies winning @ The Gabba - looks like season for upsets...
hope our guys fight hard

Message from Rohit to England :D

Rohit just 1 run away from his innings quota.

Expect him to charge down the track and donate a catch :rohit

This is not a bad start overall. Middle order needs to play it's part.

Shubman Gill has become a joke in the past few months.
His footwork is abysmal against turning ball and genuine pace. He just stands and prods at the ball only to edge or get lbw.
In T20’s he is good as it is all stand and deliver. He needs to quickly fix his issues or he will be history.

Great Day for test Cricket.

Both Test Powerhouses to be humbled in their own backyard. :ifticool

Wait bro .Indian still have some chance and ofcourse England is at dominating position right now .
India need a 70-80 runs partnership which is very hard at this time .

Indian batsman are in trouble and playing in England hand. Need to play some shot to spread the field .
Tuk tuk batting is only lead to wicket

Exactly. Play shots like England. Defending will only result in wickets.

What these 2 are doing is a perfect recipe for disaster. They have just gone into shell and are allowing English bowlers to create pressure.

I feel like India is still in a winning position? 1-2 good partnerships will see them home.

Lol before the match Indians were making fun of bazball and here they are now advocating it.
No one is saying lay into ball no matter what. But at least keep the scoreboard ticking with singles.

PS: These guys are in any case not good enough to execute Bazball.

Eng will not get a better opportunity to win again. From next game, pitches will be square turners and we will not see this kind of pitch anymore this series.

What you really mean is from next test, back to the substandard test wickets lol

England don't have better spinner than Rehan? Even Joe Root is bowling much better than him.

Who bright idea was it to pick a leg spinner to face India in Tests ? They should have went in with Liam Dawson..

Axar can developed into long awaited Batsman+Spinner (No.6) batsman for India. He is a better batsman than Jadeja. He can do better than Iyer as a batsman. I am sure he has lesser weakness compared to Iyer in overseas conditions + he can bowl a bit + he is a left hander (adds to variety). In Indian conditions he is definitely the next best batsman after Kohli, Rohit & Rahul...

For me, KL Rahul will be the guy who can save this match for India. 3 down and still some runs to chase.

Time for the final session!

There is the potential of this match being decided in this session but it will require some more star moments from England's spinners or some aggressive batting from India.

WICKET! Axar c & b Hartley 17 - India 95-4

That is the early breakthrough they were after! Hartley finds the right length and that is ultimately a soft dismissal for Axar.

Sends it straight back to the bowler and he does well to take the catch. Four wickets now for Hartley.

Really poor shot from axar to throw the start .
England is commanding postion now .

Former England batter Kevin Pietersen:

"Hartley is back to doing wonderful things from the end that has bounce and turn.

"He takes a wonderful catch and you can see that in the celebration. It's about winning a game for your country."

WICKET! Rahul lbw b Root 22 - India 107-5

This could be a pivotal moment! Root has got Rahul.

Rahul opts for the review and there is no bat involved so we head to ball tracking and it is hitting! Leg stump would have been gone.

That is a HUGE one.

With every wicket that falls, Ollie Pope’s innings seems more and more legendary.

Surprise, Surprise - traffic increasing here...:) the internet servers will start melting with each wicket fall...:)
But kudos to England - what a wonderful fighting display.....this will be over today itself...
0-1 down 4 to play.....jee whiz India.....

A Moeen or even Livingstone would have been gold on this slow and turning wicket.

India making a meal of this

==

India's run rate is down at 2.60 at the moment, an indication of just how much they are struggling to attack against Hartley and Root.

Actually that is nothing compared to 'interest' we get from India when Pakistan loses

Falling apart here.

England has bowled well here and made the necessary changes to exploit the pitch.
