Please tell me how the body language was different under Rahane, and why exactly does that happen.
This is a vague point, zero logic.
Oh sure...
1. The biggest thing was a sense of belonging. This is something that happens not just in cricket field but in companies too. I have seen people struggling to hit targets in ome company, switch over and be a monster in another. Its all about systems and support (for someone whi is capable).
2. You have all the leaders like ashwin, pujara and rohit getting a sense that they were part of the leadership grouo and fecisions were collective and well thought out. Rahane still had to make the final call but thry were farrr more comfortable airing their views. They led the team meetings in the ground. I have watched indian test team for a long time now and i never saw them being this open and this comfortable.
3. Third of all, remember what happened when Rahane ran out Kohli in first test. He went out with mc bc gaalis. And what happened next was rahane loosing all the will to bat.
Imagine a vice captain of a team so scared of angering his captain that he cant even concentrate on the game.
Now just to be clear, kohli's anger was a fair reaction but his reaction and the environment that he had created in the dressing room meant Rahane felt super insecure.
A lot of times words get spoken in the heat pf the moment but players know thar once the game is over... Its all good. But with kohli you never know... Not like hes vindictive but just angering him would not bode well for anyome in the team so rahane couldnt just brush it off as in the moment anger.
4. When rahane got the same treatment next test, he learnt from his mistake and treated the other bat kindly.
Of course i am not asking kohli to do the same in the field but its all aboit the environment in the dressying room.
You have angry kohli.. Then bombastic shastri.. Imagine facing them after you mess uo...
With rahane no such pressure.
5. And finally, Rahane will give space but will not let idiots like Ashwin waste reviews. Kohli wont give space but will waste reviews getting influecned by these people.
Jusy this test, ashwin wasted some reviews anf we didnt have reviews for a genuine wicket.
Rahame wouldnt have let that happen.
Just cos he looks timid doesnt mean he is timid.
Hes a great leader. Gives u the soace but the final decisions rests on him and he takes it without being a slave to emotions.
