Going with Faheem and Ali as your “attack”.

Thin batting with Rizwan at 5 and bits and pieces batsman to follow.
Shan was in form and looked good. He is surely better than Nawaz, Faheem and Agha.

Previous game, he debuted Zahid ahead of Abrar. And went with 4 Bowles and no all rounders.Then, this game, he overcompensated and played 2 allrounders.

Misbah was very astute and used his resources wisely. I don’t remember these comical errors then.

Babar is a poor captain but Misbah won’t be winning tests with Nauman Sajid and Zahid as the spinners and a batting lineup that is currently selected.

In fact it was Misbah who started this decline selecting Azhar and Shafiq as the mainstays once he retired and instilling a defensive timid approach which led to defeats against low ranked teams even in UAE and since then the team had become a minnow In Tests since.
 
When I went out for a stroll, PAK were 159/4. And I cone back to see 9 down.

Looks like another series defeat at home. Can PAK atleast beat a declining EnZed? :inti

But babar is the one selecting the playing 11 right. He’s the one who persisted with Sajid, Azhar Ali. Played Zahid ahead of Abrar. It’s his own calls.
If Abrar played last, who knows what could have happened.

Lol I saw 150/3 a little whole ago and thought we are doing okish, but going for morning shower and coming back to 189/3, we have poor batsmen but the tail is completely useless. Hopefully we can somehow gey to 230.

Nawaz plays as a spinner ahead of Zahid and Nauman for me. He’s tidy and can chip in with the bat. But I agree he’s not a test allrounder nor are Salman Agha or Faheem.
Babar needs to play more specialists, which were available in the squad.

Babar is primarily responsible for all the ills in the team. There has not been a more powerful captain in our recent history and he has habitually made horrible selections

Those croticising Faheem are obviously not watching the match,Abrar is capable of holding an end and Faheem is playing it just right by scoring where possible.

It is actually Pakistan's test attack that's been woeful while touring away in the last few years.

We had a discussion on this on another thread and at 1st you kept disagreeing with me on nawaz, I said he's not good enough as a batsmen. Yeah his bowling not bad but he's going to keep being used as an "all rounder" is a shambles.

Lol. Shadab is another limited overs specialist. He has not proven anything in test cricket and would have probably been exposed like Nawaz. Test Cricket is a very different format. You have to deal with spin, reverse swing, bouncers and relentless pressure in this format
 
England shouldn't go for full slogging now, take calculative risks put only the rare bad balls away for boundaries. Bat full 90-100 overs, they have a golden chance of a series victory in Pakistan. Still lot of time left in the match . 11 sessions remaining.

Robinson has a very good test record everywhere. Anderson is at least a good stock bowler overseas, with a fine record in some countries. Wood bowls in the upper 90 mph range. Leach has an away tenfer.
 
Nothing wrong with selection for this match apart from Agha should be replaced by a better batsman like Kamran Ghulam. Pakistani batters Babar and Saud apart played poorly.
 
England should play normal cricket score 300 at 4 an over this is a big chance of a series win in Pakistan going too attacking and collapsing will be their only downfall here.

They don’t want to give Pakistan any chance of chasing a total.

Absolutely England attack is a good one, and add to it Stoke who did not even needed to bowl, poster trying to take credit away from them.

Go and review the thread again. I never disagreed with you over the lack of use of specialists.
Nawaz makes the team as a bowler and his batting makes him a decent no8.

Do you not follow the away ashes series it’s a given aus will win 4/5-0 in Ind Eng comes back home whitewashed NZ bowled em out for 50 odd.

The likes of kohli williamson Warner manhandled Wood & co.. Pak making him into superstar !!

As if Pakistani's are world beaters at White Ball cricket. They got shown the mirror by an English team assembled last minute under Stokes only recently.

The crowd favourite Azam Khan also took part in that series and failed embarrassingly.

I think Aamir Sohail lost back to back series to ZIM and Australia back in 1998. Not sure about India :inti
 
Very disgraceful performance. Any top home team could have taken the opportunity of taking a big lead on this pitch which still good for batting.

Yes. The bowling unit actually did quite well in the last Ashes. The batting unit was the problem.

England were not whitewashed in India, they won a test.

Wood didn’t go to India, or NZ. He averaged 24 in Australia with strike rate 42.

Maybe check your facts before posting in future?

What is the point of opening the bowling with Faheem & Ali?? Why not with Abrar & Nawaz or at least with 1 spinner??

What’s the point of bowling these trundlers. Will only serve to get them set. Faheem is bowling cutters, Ali is bowling pies all over the place. Why not bring in the only bowler who has any chance of making an impact.

Mohammad Ali so, so raw. This is embarrassing. Jogging in and throwing it extra wide or down leg. No plan, no rhythm, nothing with the ball. Mamoon may be right after all. The level of talent in this country for the top bowler of the last two seasons to be this awful and yet dominate... we're so hopeless

I am guessing than non-keeper Pontiff is tired after keeping and will appear down the order after a rest.
 
In 4 session both team 1st innings were done. But if this happened in india all that talk only about pitch pitch and pitch .

Pakistan has some decent talent. The only thing they are lacking is self belief and a lot of common sense and the captain has a huge role in both issues. His tactics and team selection are abysmal to say the least. Not once have I seen a balanced team in his captaincy. He will always go for the most defensive tactics possible, have no plan B and if things go out of control wait indefinitely for things to happen instead of trying anything other than what he is used to doing every game. Easily one of the worst captains we’ve ever had.

These posts are getting ridiculous now. He will get a spotlight in any batting lineup. He has a 196, 136 and a 112 not out in his last 5 tests along with three 80 odd scores.

The only batsman capable of matching or bettering him in the country is already in the team.

Agreed. Now after Jack's wicket he is continuing with Faheem instead of trying left arm spinner Nawaz. Medium pacers like Faheem & Ali are no threat to this English side

It’s important to give constructive criticism rather than just rubbish everyone. Pakistan have not lost this match yet, and their new leggie is having a brilliant debut. I wish England had him.
 
Faheem is doing a very good job keeping the batsmen in control. Babar playing it right by not introducing spinners both end as Zahid especiially will leaks lots of runs.
 
Duckett is very good player of spin and not bad on pacers either. A gutsy addition to England lineup.
