What's new

England v Australia | 1st Test - Day 3 & 4 | Cardiff | 10/7/09

This is crap, just wasting the time and balls by bowling outside the off stump.

Cook playing all over a straight ball. Bopara in next will be under pressure from his first innings.

Johnson to Cook, OUT, gone! Straight ball this time, no movement in the air or off the pitch, Cook quite simply misses the ball and is trapped dead in front. Aleem Dar sticks up the finger at world-record pace

:))

Bumble and Sir Ian were all about how Jhonson cant swing the ball and he bowls a straighter one and gets Cook Plumb infront.

Bopara given out LBW to Hilfenhaus

It looked on the high side and Hawkeye agrees, says it was going over (not by a lot) BUT Bopara can count himself unlucky

England in a spot of bother - start doing a rain dance for tomorrow

Doctrove first gives legbyes for a ball that Strauss played - luckily it was a no ball otherwise he would have given that one out probably
Next ball a high ball given out LBW
Eng 17-2

Billy doctorov strikes for Aus.How can you have billy umpiring in Ashes I mean these High LBWs are not hard decisions to make.

Johnson living up to the Wasim Akram promise. 148-150 km/hr.

Calm down. I haven't been too impressed with him so far in the series, no swing from him.

It was a poor shot. Hopefully he finds his swing for the rest of the series.

I have however been quite impressed with Hilfenhaus. Swinging it all day long and at decent pace.

:))) you're probably the only person in the world who thinks he is the next Wasim Akram

SKY showing some footage of Aus-Eng series from late 60s??? Umpiring issues and crowd problem. Australia changing captain in middle of series and making Ian Chappel the captain. John Snow getting warned for bowling a bouncer that hit Terry Jenner and English captain Illingworth arguing. Snow hurting his hand on the picket fence at the boundary giving a scare to England who will bowl Australia out to win the series.

Stumps Day 4. good weather forecast for tomorrow

Some tough questions for England. Broad, Anderson and Flintoff have had a very poor game. Panic time for them especially with Harmison putting up a good show in the trial match. Swan and Panesar (as usual) have been poor as well. Flat pitch yes but the Aussies still bowled them out. Disappointing performance.

The aussies have got got 12 english wickets for about 460 runs on this same pitch. In conclusion...england are pretty useless. Even in the first ashes test of 2005, when england lost big time to the aussies at lords...you could tell that this english side is going to be dangerous and really challenge australia.

Im afraid the 2009 side is absolute rubbish. Harmison and adil rashid coming in may change things round a bit possibly?

Two english wickets down and 8 to go, i recon if there is a full days play then the Aussies will win this. Australia have been excellent so far in this test and england have basically struggled to do the basics right.

Barring Hussey all the Aussie batsmen got time in the middle and did a good job.

Pressure is all on england tomorrow!

KP is the key - the guy has it in him to play a match saving knock BUT we also know that he is capable of brain farts like the first innings

Get him and the other wickets will eventually fall

Should be a cracking day - lets hope rain doesnt spoil things (any idea what the forecasts are saying?)

Really hope there is a full days play tomorrow. Have some serious money riding on the Aussies so hope they can complete a win here.

they must take advantage of the first session tomorrow, with the covers on for a long time and all yhis rain, the wicket will have livenrd up with a bit of moisture in, so i think they could really put england to the sword in the first session

Looks like the Aussies are about to seal a 1-0 lead.....still on course for a 5-0 win!

The ASHES just got a wake-up call from the AUSSIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , They may win tomorrow but with no Warne or Mcgrath the chances don't look much in their favour that they'll be able to bowl out England................But If Doctrove decides to join the party then English fans better start praying :)))

If the Aussies get the full quota of 98 overs tomorrow without any delays, I would put my money on the Aussies coming out on top.

Of course the key to any English defense is Kevin Pieterson and if he plays a brilliant knock you never know a draw might be the end result. I am sure the Aussies will have special plans for Pieterson such as bowling Horroritz at him all the time :))).

Overall they are two very ordinary sides...but on the evidence of this match so far the aussie bowling attack has looked more potent than the english one. Although that isnt much of an achievement it has to be said.

People talk about our team being ordinary, but it's all relative. Compared to our Galacticos-type squad from the last decade or so this team obviously falls short, but we're not playing our Galacticos squad from the last decade - we are playing other national teams TODAY. And there are quite a few ordinary sides out there - WI are a shambles, SA lost to our ordinary side at home and Pakistan conspired to lose what should have been an unloseable match against SL.

Sure we're ordinary compared to the McGrath-Warne-Gilly-etc team we used to have, but I would back us to be competitive against every other team playing in the world today. What we've missed is the ability to take the weather or other delays out of the equation as we don't have the firepower to win Tests in 3 or 4 days anymore.

The biggest gap right now is the lack of a spinner as Horroritz is truly pedestrian and I reckon he'd struggle to make even the WI or BD sides. He's the primary reason why I'm hesitant to say that if we get a full days' play in we should win tomorrow. Our quicks will really have to step up.

This team, and the new faces, will just have to earn respect the hard way, like the 1989 Ashes team did which started the legend. They're a long way away from that side at the moment - but they're doing all that we've expected of them so far.

The only Person in My opinion that can be counted upon for wickets is Hilfy.I hope Ponting uses him rightly along side with Siddle who knows how to swing the ball back in to the Right-handers at pace

If Horroritz is unable to take wickets tomorrow on a fifth day turning wicket like this I seriously doubt whether he will figure in the rest of the series, with Twatson, Clark and Lee all set to be available (Lee later in the series).

hows the weather forecast for tomorrow ?

Hopefully cloudy but with no rain that would be perfect :D

Rain would just ruin the day for an dramatic Aussie win :).
I coul hear the Aussie fans chanting:

"RAIN RAIN GO AWAY , COME BACK SOME OTHER DAY"
