India on top in the 3rd Test, finish Day 1 on 99/3 after bowling England out for 112 in Ahmedabad

So on this pitch, it turns, it seams, it bounces an dthe conditions make it swing as well....Surely some sort of face palm on the perennial life time members of the India-always-prepare-doctored-wickets-&-spin-to-win gang :mw3

Lack of Jadeja even Axar in the first test hurt India badly. Looks like they carried the wounds from the last test into this test. Played for the turn a lot more and got deceived.

Ben stokes must be embarrassed to see himself picking the rolling ball and claiming it as a catch.

This match is great value for entertainment. The ball is turning, swinging under the lights and the bounce is actually pretty good.

The SG ball is the closest to the Duke ball in terms of its size and seam, and Anderson said the pink SG ball feels just like the Duke ball in his hand before the match. The next session's going to be very testing for the Indian batsmen facing the swinging pink ball under the lights against Broad and Anderson. The match looks like a goner for England now but if India get knocked over for 200 under the lights, then it's game on.

Yes......considering our batsmen are donot play quality swing that well, and ja and sb are masters at this sort of situation.....but however if our guys come out the last session with minimal damage, we have tommorow - at least the first two sessions to press on....all depends on what discipline these guys show now...go indiaaaaaa

I am always scared of last session in a pink ball contest. Bowlers of this class can blow away any opposition.

Pretty poor from the third umpire not to even ask for an additional angle for that decision given how deceptive front on angles have been shown to be quite often for fair catch decisions.

Yeah, pretty poor from umpire and how quickly he had made the decision.

The pink ball is keeping seamers in the game and pitch is keeping spinners in the game..

I have my concerns on our swing playing ability. Gill is struggling here and he has tighter technique than our other openers for England conditions. Hopefully, he does better here.

Wicket is doing enough for spin and pace both.

Gill has the potential to be an ATG. Just the way he plays gives you that ATG vibe.

Rohit playing sensibly, great to see. Hope he doesn't lose his cool!

England lost this test and pretty much the series in the first two sessions. That was an absolute horror show on a wicket with no alarming turn.

Ah elite honesty from Ben Stokes. Using saliva on the ball right in front of the umpire rather than slipping into a corner and doing it when the lights went off.

:ssmith

Rohit Sharma completes 6000 runs at home in International cricket.
He is the 9th Indian to achieve this feat.

Bess should have played instead of Broad.

Surprised that Kohli read the wicket better than the opponent captain for a change.

Outttt.. tried to get out and succeeded

The stadium looks absolutely gorgeous in those aerial shots.

Imagine India and Pakistan playing a World Cup Final in front of 110,000 rabid fans. There will absolutely be nothing in the world which will compare to it. It will be a thunderous atmosphere. I really hope that happens this year for the T20 World Cup. I do not think the venues are finalized yet.

Pujara gone. England into this game now. Another couple of wickets - and truly the game will be on.

Good on Pujara and Rohit in not taking the review.

Looks like all the batsmen are playing conditions and not the ball.

Another pull shot for 4 from Rohit, these all are very handy runs.

Most wickets have come due to poor batting in this match.

Pujara looks past his prime. Those innings he played in Australia last month was all thanks to the grit and resilience he showed up. His skills seems to have not been at the point.

Looks like again Rohit is the difference between the two teams! Probably Rohit should have established as Test Opener long back! Looks the most comfortable among the Indian Batsmen this series!

Most runs as Captain vs ENG

3191 - Allan Border
2978 - Graeme Smith
2726 - Ricky Ponting
2432 - Don Bradman
2000 - Virat Kohli*
1910 - MS Dhoni

A fan just ran into the stadium wanting to take a photo with Kohli, who just shooed him away. Crazy. Again don't know what the security personnel were doing.

Not watching the game, could anyone share if batting is still difficult or getting easier under lights with dew?
I hope India at least scores 350-400 to keep 4th innings chase to bare minimum, if any.

Gotten easier.

He looks old an tired too. The bruises he endured in Australia seems to have taken a toll on him.
