The First Investec Test between England and India to be played today at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

Match scheduled to begin at 11:00 local time (10:00 GMT | 12:00 CEST | 15:00 PST)

Looks like the groundsman has made a low, slow, turning pitch, perfect for the Indians.

What a crazy world.

Stuart Binny has been given his Test cap so it looks like 5 bowlers for India.

Turning pitch really?! Oh man, not watching the match right now and cricinfo didn't give any update on the pitch

India v England - 1st Test, Trent Bridge

10.15 am First news of the day: Stuart Binny has got his Test cap from Dhoni.. That means India are playing five bowlers.

We've lost this already. Bet Jadeja is there too, meaning Dhoni has to bat above both of them. Laughable batting line-up to result.

Well the Sky boys reckon it will turn on days 4 and 5 but it will be SLOW turn.

Hope England win the series 5-0.Not interested in this Dhoni-Srini 11.The Indian National Cricket Team has been buried.

Ok just caught Start Sports. Bhogle, Dravid and Akram. Made my day..

This Manhrekar is a sissy. He doesn't want to bat just because it would swing for the first 2 hrs

So Roger Binny the selector gets a test cap for his son.

Ishant Continues to Play.

RIP Indian Cricket!!!!May you rise some day.

Still the XI not up on cricinfo.
Expecting the following

Vijay
Dhawan
Puja
Kohli
Rahane
Dhoni
Binny
Jadeja
BK
Shami
Ishant

Binny, Jadeja, Vijay, Ishant...how are we even going to draw this?

Why is Jadeja batting at 5 from what ive seen in ODIS he bats like a hack

Why are India so scared of 'English conditions'? These are conditions in which Graeme Swann has been very successful for the last five years. Play to your strengths.

Sourav "Flowing Hair" Ganguly just refused to shake Ian Wards hand for some reason.

MY man Pankaj ain't playing WHATTT ? You finally select a near 30 year old who had to cry out to get heard and now you select the same tundler who was trashed by every single player out there. I guess Dhoni likes his men thin ;)

Nasser: Kohli is a legend of the game does he want an IPL contract :yk

^^ He sabotaged his case with the donkey comment and will need to flatter the Indians a lot more to get into the BCCI fold now :yk

Why the hell is Ishant being selected. They are picking him for experience what use is experience when youre rubbish

Greame Swann is not a batsman. Swann grew up playing cricket in these conditions, while Indian batsmen grew up bullying fast bowlers in their country who were all wanted to be a batsmen but failed so they chose the easy route.

Tbh these pitches will be nowhere near as seam friendly as 2011. English pitches are pretty slow and flat nowadays. Unless there is a lot of cloud cover and humidity. This will be an even series IMO

First one an edge, second slightly streaky and third one in total control. Good progression as far as Vijay is concerned.

as predicted binny but interesting the scorecard shows jadeja will bat at no5 i think its a good move

Having faced South African and Kiwi attack in seemingly tougher pitches, I wouldn't be surprised if India actually bat very well in this series. Time to inflate away averages :sanga

Commie box looks quite friendlier with Dravid and Sanjay replacing Shastri and Gavaskar.

"First time 12 runs have scored in the first over of a test in England was in 1969 - Sobers to Boycott"

Boycott of all people!

Good start by India this , they have a point to prove overseas and England need to pick themselves up after that defeat to Sri Lanka

From cricinfo:

Trudders: "This is where Cook needs to show some inventiveness rather than sticking with formulaic captaincy. Anderson bleeding runs, not looking dangerous so switch it and give Plunkett a bowl with a nice hard ball. "

Pathetic stuff from Anderson. Looks like he still hasn't recovered from the test against SL

"When was the last time Broad and Anderson ran through an opposition top order and had them 3 or 4 down for not very many? Is it time England looked at alternatives? Both are now averaging more than 30 in Tests."

Both good when conditions suit them otherwise rubbish. Im sure Mamoon and some other will kill me for calling them rubbish

so far positivity from india playing 5 bowlers and winning the toss batting 1st

Dhawan has been worked out I think by opposition teams.

Nice to hear Dravid on Sky commentary, a class act.
