Ashwin and Raina don't get the hate? That's news to me...Anyone associated with the city Chennai gets hate, no matter what they do.

He should have.

But this pitch is one terror.

Don't think even SL got this kinda pitch (although they too got easy pitches).

Anything less than 500 and we are screwed.
 
Watching Warne vs Tendulkar before the MCC World XI game. Tendulkar still owning him even at this age

It was on Sky Sports during the Lunch Break they showed a special it was filmed before the MCC game Warne and Tendulkar speaking about how it was playing against each other. And then Warne bowled an over to Tendulkar and got smashed

That is the truth, you can twist it as you want...I am not carrying anything.....Just look the amount of criticism Vijay and Ashwin get compared to others in the Indian team and you will find your answer. I will be the first one to admit if someone doesn't deserve a place in the team...Vijay does, no matter what people think...He has definitely looked better than Dhawan overseas but people still want him out of the team at any cost.

For some reason some people get lesser rope from the fans than the others. Their dislike can be manifold (the main one being where this come from) but the mainly players like Vijay and Ashwin need to only flop in few games before the fans call for their head...If they are given longer rope by the captain or coach then obviously it has to do with some conspiracy....
 
Dang! Pujara is gone...huge wicket for England after the break...India needs to make sure they don't throw this good start away...These two need to put their head down and score big.

Vijays been around since 2010 or 2008 cant remember- how long a rope is that?? Should Dhawan be given as long a rope as Vijay???

Ashwin- good at home, no one complaining about that- dud overseas- absolute dud....again no complaints on that

He started off in 2010 and failed, agreed...Now has made a comeback...At least give him a chance to fail again? Why keep questioning his place when the guy has been doing decently? I want Dhawan to succeed too, he plays for India and I support all players equally...if Vijay was not from Chennai, I would have done the same....If you look at my old posts, I completely agree with Jaddu being our primary spinner overseas....I have no complaints on that...

So where am i opposing Vijay- chaps playing good and should be kept??? What i am opposing is Chennai fans saying Vijays hated coz hes from Chennai which is just pure mumbo jumbo garble....
 
Need to see of this spell from Anderson and Broad. We can score against Ali, Stokes and Plunkett..
 
Great bwoling from Anderson.. He does really well when ball reverses, like we saw back in India (2012)
 
Broad is India's nemesis.. Does so well against us. I've never seen him perform well against other sides (relatively)
 
So this match will come down to reverse swing. Good for Shami as he has been quite average on grassy, seaming wickets.
 
Let's try to score 400+ first and then think about saving/ winning the match


Binny and Jadeja might fail for single digit scores :facepalm:
 
Reversing so early! The officials should check to see if Broad had done any tampering

Because of the early reverse swing, batsmen may target the new ball, and inshallah, tall mighty one will get lucky as he did in Champion's Trophy final.

Not watching the game, I tuned in for 10-15 minutes during Origin half time. Wicket had little carry and commies were complaining about the ball not swinging. Wicket looked good, only need 2 or 3 batsmen to score to set a good first innings total.
 
So when's Kohli coming in? I hear he is The New Tendulkar.

It's a Morton's fork for you guys. Whatever bowler you pick will get smashed. Sure there may be a difference of 100-200 runs. But thrashing will remain constant.

The only time he has bowled in conditions favoring reverse swing, he looked extremely threatening and won India the match. This track will have nothing for either Binny or Ishant. It's about making a better choice, Binny and ishant aren't that.
 
It is amazing how Rahane bats so well in overseas games...Successful in SA and NZ, playing well now here too....Too bad he does not get the same amount of recognition as Pujara and Kohli.

Yadav is comfortably better than Ishant and Sir Binny in terms of potential. But he isn't in the squad. One wonders why Ishant was selected despite being the worst bowler in the warmups. Even Sir Binny was better.

I'd wait before jumping into conclusions. Flat pitch, sad bowling attack, sunshine. He survived one good testing spell, but still a long way to go. The 5 match series will give us a good indication..

lol some players need more convincing than the others...Pressure situation...England bowling well, two of our best players back in the pavilion, the guy holds one end up and still nothing to right home about? Obviously he is going to fail in the 5 match series...New ball is going to swing and he is going to nick one...that doesn't mean that he is not good...Better players have failed in swinging conditions...Give credit where due, under the circumstances this is a fantastic innings for India.
