England v India | 3rd Test | The Oval | [9/8/07]

101!!!!!!

Miss stumping chance by Prior...through the legs trickeled down for four.

Very difficult chance though.

Well played Kumble!

i mean even the greatman hasn't made a century and has fallen on the the 80s and 90s one time to too many this series
To be honest ,the greatman didn't deserve that. But i really feel for Karthik ,he deserves one.

Well Played Kumble.......I think it should be a free for from now on. Get England in with Tired legs

Probably now Sree will take a few swipes (if he can) while Kumble gives him the strike . But they need to get England in there for atleast 10 overs now

well done kumble. you've done us subcontinentals proud. 101 now off 183 at 55!!!

I wonder why Colly has not been used more today. He was quite decent when he bowled and can be a partnership breaker.

Well I think he has taken 3 wickets, 2 of which weren't out.

:)) you should tell him to move or grab the remote of him.

he's 6'2 and goes to the gym....and now it is a classic 'run around in the park with the dupatta in the air and the actor smelling it scene' ill be bones and dust if i tell him to move now :)

664....WOW....WOW....WOW....

India can give a batting lesson to ANYONE!!! Not even Australia can look up at the indians on song....by a mile...

i think sreesanth deserves a pat on the back for his cameo innings...and kumble deserves all the apple crumble he can find

7 overs left in the day. Lets see if Zaheer gets any swing and I would probably give Kumble an over or two as well.

perfect test score. anything above 400 is safe one can think...and, at 3.9. 3.5-4 is ideal run rate in a test match!!

It's gonna be tough for England to comeback and level the series now I think.

It's a belter of a pitch and the outfield is super quick so that is about average.

average for pitches like that is 400 still lol. 600+ runs are a very very very scarce rarity in international cricket.

me: go india GO INDIA go india...

*shot* by an unknown entity.

entity walks off chewing on an aloo...

takes off his hood and you see the face of inzamam smiling...

mmm......not that much Pakistanis supporting England . Fantastic ,Thanks Jayed and others .I was supporting Pakistan while they were in SA . :19:

if india take two quick wickets...they are oooo sooo close to winning the series!!!

YES ! India have a wicket, Strauss ... whatever pulling into the air

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

4.4 Khan to Cook, FOUR, now that's how to play the pull shot, Cook swivelling round on top of the bounce and controlling smoothly behind square. It races

another awful decision from Howell (or whatever his name is)

was so out, but he gave it not out

anderson is not playing well.....he seems as if hes going to crack soon

They all count, and seeing the hawkeye, the LBW shout was plumb !

i think they gave the benefit of the doubt. its a long day, the umpires arent going to be at their sharpest

4 from anderson...now BOWL HIM QUICKY...england cannot get any form of confidence to build upon..

if india can keep it under 30 with 2 or three wickets...they can have 'winners' imprinted on their shirts already i think

thats a rap guys, stumps at day two with england on 24 for 1 with the nightwatchman still put....a rollercoaster of fine batting display and woeful bowling....

India have got this game in the bag. England can only save this test now, where are the jellybeans?.

Maybe Prior should start thinking about what car will he be driving after this match.

Truly woeful stuff from England. Panesar was manhandled - if not for the two bunny wickets at the end he'd have gone nought for heaps. Anderson took wickets but was hammered. Strauss is horribly out of form, and a wicket that India scored 660-odd on suddenly looks full of demons. They'll get caned by an innings I reckon.

The Guardian put it best:

England's bowling card makes for the worst reading since Benjamin Disraeli's Sybil.

England have been dreadful, but the team is pretty weak and apart from Vaughan and Pietersen, the batting is woefully out of form. The Oval pitch is notoriously flat, and India won another good toss here and will probably win, as long as the weather doesn't intervene. It's a rebuilding phase though for us, and I can understand that things won't come good so soon. We need to find a good balance to the side, which we hopefully will when Flintoff returns. It will be interesting to see who goes to Sri Lanka. Especially so I can see whether or not Moores has favourites.

lmao, i just checked the score and had to laugh at kumble scoring a century :))) :)))
And everyone thought Pakistan made crap batsman look good :))) :)))

Have to say india have wrapped up series here with 2 days of solid batting! Only question is can they force a win and win series 2-0??

Hate to say it Gus, but you lot peaked in 2005 and have been going downhill since. Jones and Fredalo are Medicare cases, Harmlesson has the worst control of anyone since Long John Daly and Strauss is currently batting in a manner as to make Simon Katich look like a hero.

You have a 1.35654% chance of winning the Test I reckon - the following will have to happen:

1. Vaughan (to play sheet anchor) and KP (to get you runs) need to fire, not in the first innings but in the second

2. You need to get rolled for a peanut score (200 or so) in the 1st innings (which will probably happen) sometime before tea tomorrow

3. You need Dravid to make you follow on still 400-odd behind (this is totally out of your control obviously - if I were Dravid I would not insert you back in but bat for a session or so and put on 150-odd quick runs to further rub you into the dirt)

4. You need to somehow then compile 603 runs in 5 sessions at a RR of 4rpo and only lose 10 wickets. This will give you 2 sessions to bowl out India

5. You need to take 10 Indian wickets in 60 overs

Pretty simple formula. :P

I wouldn't say we peaked in 2005 - we had a two-year peak before that which culminated in the Ashes victory. We're still an okay side, but lack the strength in depth to be serious contenders when a few key players are removed.

11.1 Sreesanth to Cook, no run, dropped Karthik was put at leg slip for just that ... Cook glances off the face of the bat straight to him at stomach height .. he never had to move but it was spilt and he even had a second bite at it

This is the kind of situation where India may regret discarding Harbhajan Singh. The players that have been picked have done well, but dual spinners of high quality would be a guaranteed victory for them here.
