What's new

England v Pakistan | 1st Test | Lord's | Jul 14-18, 2016 | Day 2

Wahab has been awful, and Rahat has been poor but at least he bowled some wicket taking delivery so will drop Wahab for the next match.

Surprised that Pak has not tested Moen with the short ball at all.
Even Ishant Sharma had Ali in trouble with short pitch stuff.

Wahab should bowl 2 or 3 short balls in rib cage and then a yorker.

Rahat is more threatening though

Only in first few overs against Right handers. With conditions conducive to reverse Wahab can be preferred. Imran should play though, its a shoot out b/w Rahat/Wahab both are garbage. Imran can atleast hold one end steady, which is what we have completely lacked today

Imran should have played no need for 2 spray guns

Relax everyone...Eng won't be hitting 400...just the players need to catch when there is an opportunity.

Yasir is coming for other end - that's good idea, I think now he'll be bowling with wind behind him, which should help his drifting sliders. LBW coming?

Woakes is very sound bat. Can easily average around 35 with bat and 30-32 with ball.

MMHS I have a feeling that bowlers are very tired and England's late order will wrestle back the initiative

what is Rahat Ali doing i guess imran khan would have been a better option

They shouldn't be too tired, Yasir aside. It's not a hot day and they've bowled like 12-13 overs each.

Nice little partnership being built between these two. Batting like proper test bats. Rahat bowling short pitch rubbish. Inexcusable.

If bowlers are tiered after 58 overs & 20 bowled by a spinner on a cloudy London afternoon, then they shouldn't play cricket. Posters would get upset, but in reality Wahab is 35, Rahat 33 - that's the age when Marshall & Lillee retired. PCB 'll keep Wahab for at least 3 more years as he is senior.

Just checked the scorecard and other 'stats' it seems that Rahat and Wahab are having a really really poor day....

I had been saying this from day 1, IK 2.0 is a must for this bowling lineup - He's our best seamer in terms of stats and usually punches above his weight. With such a placid track we needed his containment skill to be honest.

Even if England manage to get 350ish they still have to bat last against Yasir, so Pakistan are still well on top at the moment despite this stubborn partnership.

At least Wahab has some aggression. Rahat Ali is an embarrass as a fast bowler. Should try Sadaf. He can't be worse than Rahat

Too many rubbish balls are fed to these two. At least 1 boundary ball in every over, apart from Yasir.

Where is the pressure?

109 lead left, England will score between 350-400. There seems no penetration from anyone bar yasir and Amir and both look spent now specially Amir. I expect this partnership to take England to atleast 270-280 and then broad tail can wag them past 350

Rahat has done worse. Him out, IK in.

Hope Amir Yamin can do a passable impression of Chris Woakes. Woakes would walk into our team in all formats.

If PAK has to win this Series, must play 5 bowlers - may be Iftekhar if he bowls well. Otherwise, ENG bottom half'll score hihger that top half almost every time.

This is boring. Batsmen not under any pressure. Getting 2 or 3 runs per over without any trouble.

England can't cross 300, they will be packed up under 300.

Wicket was never a worry sign for batsmen it's just a matter of time they do mistakes.

What a batsman this guy Woak is? Why he bats so low? He should play as a middle order batsman and score some big centuries

That's why I don't trust us to defend 150-200. With this attack we'll need to set a chase of well over 300.

We would need atleast 200 to be competetive and 250+ preferably 300+ to be favourites. The attack has too many loose canons to be trusted
