Lord is flat as hell this season(if not for few years)... Nobody has been able to take 20 wickets this season, including ENG Vs SL, they were rolling over them else where...

Pakistan best option is to bat first, score big like Auses did in last ashes series... Use old ball skills, score board pressure,control from Amir and Yasir to fetch wickets, get 100+ lead and then give 350+ target for 4 sessions and let Yasir do his magic... This is the best possible script for Pakistan...

Pakistan maybe successful where everybody else failed, why? - We have world class leggy others don't, not to mention better reverse swing bowlers than anybody else who played on Lords this year... Last ashes Strac and Johnson were hot here to help Oz win... Wahab and Amir can do that job along with Yasir, if we have enough runs on board!!!

We have to play Yasir, Amir, Wahab for sure and Imran(I have explained else where why Imran is better than Sohail), we cannot have three left arm bowlers in lords, that is too risky, match will most likely go to day 5... You don't want to make life too easy for Moeen, if we bat last, we may loose match just because of that move...

yeah but if its ever overcast at all lords swings, weather down south is crap at the moment too

Our batsmen won't even last on a flat wicket. Green mamba will be real fun at least from the bowling point of view. None of our bowlers including amir is capable of doing well on a flat wicket.

Even looking at the weather there would be more cloud on Friday and Saturday, means bat first is the better option...Whoever bowls under cloud would have more advantage, plus Pakistan has better cloud bowler(Amir), since both Anderson and Stroke are missing...Broad is a seam bowler not as much swing. Lords will be about swing(if clouds are there) not seam.

Its tricky, but batting first is best bet. We may have better idea tomorrow or on Thursday morning about weather...

Our batsmen have more of a chance lasting on a flat wicket than a green wicket.

We are going to lose anyway... At least we can enjoy some bowling of Pakistan. England scoring 600 and Pakistan scoring 275 and 280 won't be no fun.

Bhai, Broad will be a nightmare on a green mamba... on a flat wicket, Amir will still be able to swing the Dukes ball initially.

Better to score 280 than score under a 100 on a green track.

Don't be so certain England will get over 400 there batting line up has some weakness.

Unlikely as English grounds men are notorious for preparing their own pitches.
Edgbaston & old Trafford have a bit more juice
 
If we win the toss at lords and make a reasonable score 375 it only takes one poor session from England s batting second to open up a good possibility of a win.
Imran to reverse it , yasir to come into the game second inns, Amir to target root .
We need at least one of younis, Misbhar , Azhur or shafiq to put their hand up with the bat.
Never know conditions may suit hafeez and he may return a 70 odd.
 
On a flat track which i assume Lords will be it will be criminal to go with Sohail or Rahat.

Wahab and IK jr are much better on flat decks, i would go with them both alongside Amir and Yasir.
 
If we win the toss we have to bat, regardless of the weather. This pitch will be flat. We must not be scared of temporary cloud cover.

We are less worried about cloud cover and more worried about the cover the openers will give to the rest of the batting line up.
 
We will bat first definitely unless it has actually rained before the toss to spice things up.

The choice for third seamer is between Imran and Rahat, my guess is they will go with Rahat for an all left-arm pace attack.
 
BBC forecasts good weather around 20 degrees Celsius throughout.

Do you know what the best seating at lords is? Or the better seating in order? Will be difficult to get good seats for the first 4 days but thinking of getting down there on day 5 if the game lasts that long!

I like the top tier Compton stand which is in between the media centre and the grand stand .
There s no roof also so you can enjoy the sun.
I don't like stands that are square of the wicket, but if the 5 th day goes ahead you can sit anywhere you like apart from the members stands .

Honestly for most Pakistanis, Pakistan vs England is the best test series.

We do not play India in tests, otherwise that would be the best series.

Kind of hoping the country of my birth pulls through here, if they aren't too circumspect.
 
Here is the summary of discussions so far:

1. It is going to be a flat wicket. But not so flat as in the UAE. Just flat enough to not be flat enough.
2. Therefore we should play attritional UAE style cricket. Therefore we must attack.
3. We have the best attack in the world for a green wicket. Therefore England will not prepare green wicket. However, they will sprinkle just enough green-ness to trouble our batsmen.
4. Amir and Yasir are confirmed. The other 2 bowlers should be Wahab and Rahat. Therefore we must go with Imran and Wahab. And Rahat and Imran. And Wahab and Sohail. Good.
5. Our openers are abysmal. But Shan has guts. And Hafeez will surprise. Therefore Azher should come at his normal position even though we see Shan and Hafeez failing. Hafeez will surprise even though we don't know what that surprise is. All we know is that his injury can be controlled with a band aid.
6. We have the best middle order in the world. Which is the UAE. Which is the world.
7. We expect Misbah to fail who isn't technically equipped to handle anyone other than a toddler who spins in the UAE. Younis is old and afraid of fast bowling. Shafiq is untested. Sarfaraz's place is set even though his keeping may kill us.
8. England's middle order is useless. They only rely on Cook and Root. Therefore they will score 400. Even though our attack will reduce them to rubble. And not.
9. Anderson is out. Which is good. Which is bad. We don't know the unknown hyphenated bowlers replacing him. We are afraid of hyphens. And unknowns. And bowlers generally.
10. Our overseas record is better than India's. Ergo we are better than India. We want to play in the IPL.
11. Bring Ahmed Shahzad back. Sami Aslam has been hard done by. So has Hafeez been for being banned or we'd have an all rounder. Put Sohail in since Imran can't bat.
12. Conditions will be dry. And overcast. No rain about. We must win the toss and bat. Therefore we must win the toss and bowl. If we lost the toss, we must bat and bowl.
13. Crowd will be chanting no-ball at Amir. Therefore he is our little brother.

As long as weather conditions are good it should be a win the toss and bat 1st job and try and score big in 1st inns so that yasir can come into the match in the 4th inns.

After India, playing Australia and England is the biggest games for me

I have been getting the feeling i used to get before exam results day- feeling a little bit sick and excited and nervous all at the same time! I am going tomorrow This just made me laugh though

If they give their wickets to him then they need a chapal thrown on their faces. He should be dispatched out the ground every time he bowls. No sympathy with moeen when it comes to playing against pak.

Knowing English weather, I wont be surprised if its on and off the field case tommorow. Its been a quite bad weather here, rain, sunny, windy U name it. I only live 11 miles away from Lords Cricket Ground.
 
Such an Shame Junaid is not in the squad. He would have been a better option than Sohail Khan, knowing sher khan has never played a test matches for Pakistan for a long time.

Wahab, Rahat, Amir are the 3 best seamers in the country. Easy choice on who to play

hopefully management doesn't get caught up no the right hand/ left hand combination thing
 
Hopefully we win the toss and choose to bat. The lord has historically favored batting first sides since 2010 at least. Also, i hope we play Imran Khan Jr. in some capacity and not the spray gun.

What ? Amir's spot is confirmed, and two spots are open. If IK is not playing then both Wahab & Rahat should be playing and not fighting for spots.

Having the pre-match jitters. It's like 12 hours left to the match but still feeling nervous and anxious. Damn these long breaks that we have to endure between series.

Just hoping that there will be some substance to all the hype - would absolutely be gutted if all of this goes to nothing and we aren't able to perform on the field, where it actually matters.

Bro I have been waiting for this series for a year. I am a bit nervous won't lie. I hate how long we have had to wait. Living in the UK and watching how much they are going about Amir and none of our other players is annoying need our players to show them where not all about Amir!!!!

I would be heartbroken after all this hype we get smashed although it wouldn't be a suprise

Today there has been some hype but mostly it's been about Amir before today.

I watch a programme where journalists talk about England, only this week did they talk about the Pakistan team not including Amir. I don't think they see this series as important as this forum does.

Even today mostly it was a bit about Amir with little bit of mentioning of Yasir, team man, and Misbah. Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq have gone under the radar.

A lot of English pundits on TV and radio, and the ones on Cricinfo, seem to be glad the SL series is over and that with Pakistan we're gonna get a "proper series" so there's definitely excitement.
 
I want Amir to do well. But I hope it's someone else who is he star peformer tomorrow. So sick of the media talking about him like he is our only player.

It infuriates me how azhar and asad are going under the radar when they are better players than Bairstow vince ballance and Moen yet no pundit really talks about them. Even sarfaraz I have hardly seen any English pundit mention him.

Hopefully Amir does well but for tomorrow I hope another bowler stars (if anyone of our bowlers out peforms Amir than Amir will have bowled one hell of a spell). Or one of our batters takes the headlines tomorrow if we bat 1st.

There isn't that much. It's all about Amir for them. Azhar asad sarfaraz Masood have all gone under the radar

Part of the anticipation is because its been six years in the waiting. These big foreign tours outside Asia have been few and far between for us. Even Sri Lanka have toured England three times since we were last here !
