What's new

England vs Pakistan | 1st Test | Lord's, London | May 24-28, 2018 | Day 3 | Match Thread

Nearly...... Boys jaldi se khatum karo I need to get my Champion's League mode on

This is a relentless bowling attack. Probably only next Philander, Rabada and Ngidi.

What a series that will be in December. If the batting continues its current form, could see them drawing the series at least. Time to get the monkey off our back.

Pakistan cricket. You think its down and out, and it comes back to literally kick you in the nuts. This is domination to a whole new level.

Can we play at Lord's every Test ?

Compare this to Abu Dhabi filth we have to play on year after year.

How'd you rate this pitch MMHS ?

Oval'll be even better, that'll bring the spinners as well and batsmen will enjoy the wicket. I think, Old Traford & Leeds as well, if it's a bit dry Lancashire, but on wet condition, spinners don't come. Birmingham & Trentbride should be challenging for batsmen.

Abu Dhabi is best for BD attack, limited but accurate & attacking sticks.

Buttler has no option left then start counter attacking. Possibly Biggest innings of his career.

Let's not forget the DISCIPLINE and PATIENCE we showed in the 1st innings with the bat.

The flair and aggression with the ball has been fantastic but the hard work of the batsmen - giving us these runs to play with was just as crucial in challenging conditions.

Damn it's reversing for Hasan.... Boys brought out the sandpaper it seems :smith

Who wants Abbas to get an English fiver? He already has an West Indian, Sri Lankan, and Irish fiver!

This game just shows that we have a bowling line up for all conditions.

This is just an amazing bowling performance.

Hasan's late in-dippers - shades of Waqar!

This is crazy because the problems England have are the problems you'd associate Pakistan with:
- need an opener
- one or two guys carrying the batting weight
- batting collapses
- long tail
- unsettled batsmen
- ineffective bowlers
- associated pessimism of not getting past 250
- poor fielding

Then again when you play Pakistan regularly you're bound to pick up on their traits :afridi

Don't worry England. Bumrah and co are next. Runs galore! :root

Look at Buttler struggling. No one would believe this bloke was smashing the pants off every bowler a few weeks back.

Maybe not the ineffective bowlers part but yes, the new Pakistan.

Hassan has looked threatening throughout the innings but is still wicketless. He would have had 3-4 wickets had the ball just been an inch here and there.

This match shows we were handicapped with Rahat in the bowling attack.

He released all the pressure when he was bowling.

Now the bowling attack looks relentless no time to take it easy for the batsmen.

Keeping up to pacer....but but but he is worst keeper in world cricket :ssmith

Doesn’t Rahat being a lot to the team with his superb batting and fielding? Bar the bowling, I think he’s a good cricketer.

I think, IND attack will also trouble this English batting. BK, Bumrah, Ishant/Shami, backed by Kuldeep and may be Ash, is quite good actually for English condition, particularly in 2nd half of summer.

I think the team was holding :rahat back. He always puts others ahead of himself, what a sound guy.

Pakistan doesnt deserve a cricketer like him. He is too good.

He should just retire as a living legend right now. He doesnt need to play to prove himself, he just is a legend.

I believe otherwise. Bumrah and BK bowl really funny.

Yes you are right.

Definitely puts others before himself.

Doesnt take wickets so that there are more wickets for other bowlers to take.

Man what a charitable guy.

I seriously doubt the England team will remain the same after this thrashing. Not a chance they select this XI vs India. Stokes and Root might be the only guaranteed selections. Anderson and Broad are at the end of their careers now, surely there's someone else they can select.

We were told the first innings was an aberration and England will out bat Pakistan in the second innings... What happened to that :ashwin

So we dnt need sandpaper to reverse the ball miles

I think, it's more to do with the wrist position & action - I have seen PAK pacers reversing even new ball in club cricket, bowling at military medium (But, balls were also substandard, club grade balls)

Bhuvi Kumar will make these guys hop. Just like abbass

You do realize Abbas is effective because he is around 135kph... Bhuv Kumar with his 125kph thunderbolts will be less effective

One thing i never understand, ye har thread mai India kahan sai ajata hai ?

If we do well means India will thrash England, if we do bad means we are a lallo team and India again will smash them.

I know it's early days but I dare say Abbas looks better than Asif.

:broad:

Don't slaughter me that's just my opinion :afridi

At most, we will be chasing a target less than 100. Either way, we are winning this.

Abbas in ODI ? I have seen him bowling some good yorkers as well

Do you want to field same 15th squad for all formats? We can not limit our players to 15. Slowly slowly we need to field specialist players on different format.

Amir to Bairstow vs Abbas to Root... Which one was better?

IMO the former

Because they are scheduled to tour just after this series, and for a 5 Test series. If it was an Ashes warmer, you would read AUS, instead of IND. This is Cricket discussion, not political forum - who cares what Indian bowlers would do if they were scheduled to tour in 2020!!!!!!

Dont get me wrong abbas is very very good, but your memory must be hazy.

Please watch some asif videos on youtube.

The way he set up batsmen and the way he was able to move the ball in any conditions was magic. He also had height / bounce on his side which is a whole different element.

Yar not only this every single thread. Pakistan tour to SA, India ajaye ga. Australia tour to UAE, India ajaye ga. We should not make India as our standard. Just try to play good cricket and win series, shouldn't care how India will/had perform(ed).

Abbas is still pretty new to the game. He has got more control over his game now as can be seen from this series. Will get to know in a year’s time where he stands against asif.

Yes that's true.. I was in the ground when Asif ripped through India, but Asif was also prone to being ineffective and often looked like a trundler just ambling in. Where Abbas lacks in height and bounce (mind you he is not a short guy) he makes up with greater pace.

Amir’s was better IMO. It followed right after a crucial wicket. He clean bowled Bairstrow with fierce reverse and was much quicker. One of those beautiful moments of a left arm QUICK.

Abbas wicket was 4 folds more important. His swing was amazing as well. Mode of dismissal was LBW, and a bit slower than Amir. Doesn’t mean Amir is better than Abbas, but the demeanor was defintely better.

Yes of course.

I was comparing abbas' skill level now to asif.

Abbas may very well go on to improve and become a Pakistani great, who knows. I hope he does.

So are you trying to predict that India will win the series against Eng?

Don't put words in mouth - last time BK took probably 25 wickets, and scored may be 150+, and Ishant took 9 at Lord's - IND lost 3-1 ...... They'll bowl well, and this year they do have a wrist spinner, but that doesn't relate to series result. For example yesterday, I was writing that, I don't see SAF posting 250 in any of 6 innings against PAK attack, if cordon supports the bowlers; but I also wrote that still it might end 3-0 .........

Personally, I think that series will be much closer - 5 Test series gives both teams lots of chances to make a come back.

Do you think the Pak attack is tall enough to succeed in SAF.......

Haters point of view which i am looking for
"Pakistani bowlers didn't do any thing special, it's English batters who played worst shots and gifted their wickets" :)))

Both bats batting outside the crease to Abbas... Need Saifi to come up again

Bhai, you give too much advice. They are representing Pak international team for a reason, probably they know better than you and me and posters like us.
