England vs Pakistan | 1st Test | Lord's, London | May 24-28, 2018 | Day 4 | Match Thread

They are so deluded its beyond belief. If England get wickets its great bowling but if their team loses wickets then its a constant crying of how they gave it away.

I think in the 1st innings though there were a few loose shots. In this innings it’s been better from England but still, disciplined bowling that’s probing the English batsmen. They’ve bitten and they’ve fallen for it.

In a way poor batting but also good, disciplined bowling.

Honestly we were all expecting the worst after how poorly we played against Ireland. However the intensity has gone up and we've performed beyond all optimistic expectations.

Sensible with the bat, intelligent with the ball and energetic in the field. Been a superb performance.

I quite like Imam. Good fielder, decent technique and showed a good temperament against Ireland.

Very impressed by Pakistan's bowling in this test. Excellent ball by Anderson there tho. Peach.

But amir and especially Abbas were pure gold!

It's a combination of both - too many England batsman don't have a good defence and are prone to lapses in concentration. But we've brought about mistakes with disciplined and accurate bowling.

Every host broadcaster favours their own team which is natural. Obviously Sky will look at things from an England slant but they're the most fair minded commentators around who will give credit to opposition.

If you want to see biased commentary then tune into an Australian home summer with Channel 9 where the away team is barely acknowledged, or the commentators from BD, India and Sri Lanka. Heck, earlier this year NZ commentators were constantly cheerleading their own team.

Why do I have to support the whole team? I'm not obliged to.

You're not, it's just a matter of getting behind the team. Just because Amir, Babar Azam, Sarfraz and etc aren't your cup of tea you should still wish well for them as a well wisher of the Pakistan team.

For some reason you want Mickey Arthur to be sacked, what's the need for these radical views?

When we call good bowling its not like 20 wickets by exceptional deliveries. Not even the greatest xi in the world has ever achieved that. Its about creating pressure, bowling that good lines and lengths and making the batsmen do the mistake and few exceptional deliveries in between.

Azhar, Imam, Asad, Shadab, Faheem, Hasan, Abbas.

Every player represents Pakistan, it doesn’t matter who they are or what they’ve done. If you support Pakistan you should support those that represent them, good or bad.

And we’ve done that, especially in the 2nd innings. The 1st for England had more poor shots and wafting outside off for no reason.

But it was still very good bowling, yes.

I m still very nervous about this chase... especially Babar not being there... it will be a nail biting end

Was a beauty from Jimmy reminiscent of the Bairstow dismissal by Amir... can't blame Azhar for that...

Since 1982 our record at Lord's against England has been as follows:

1982 - won by 10 wickets
1987 - draw
1992 - won by 2 wickets (Wasim and Waqar fittingly with the winning partnership)
1996 - won by 164 runs (a masterful Inzamam century in the 1st inns followed by Mushy's magic to bowl England out in the 4th inns)

2001 - lost by an innings and 8 runs
2006 - drawn (arguably one of Mohammad Yousuf's finest Test knocks with a beautiful double hundred)
2010 - lost (tainted match)
2016 - won by 75 runs (thanks to Misbah's ton, Shafiq's important runs and Yasir's brilliance)
2018 - another victory coming up

5 wins in 9 matches - the only other overseas venue where we have such a strong record must be The Oval ?

If we win this our record would be 5-4 at lords, 2nd best after Australia.

Pakistan seem to have a good record during Ramadan as well. Won the 1992 WC, 1996/7 Tri Series in Australia and Champion Trophy last year during this Ramadan.

That's a better shot from Haris.

Yeah England had a weird record where they hadn't beaten Australia for 75 years at Lord's, so not surprised they're out in front.

BBC are saying this will be the first time England have lost the first Test of a home summer since 1995 to West Indies.

That team wasn't bad was it...

Positive cricket even in Tests. We need more of this to win Test matches. Feels good to have gotten rid of the dead-weights like Hafeez and Co.

Waiting for comments like:
Fluke.
Jimmy and Broad weren't at their best.
This is the weakest team of England.

:)))

Geoff Boycott on TMS:

It's a comprehensive performance from Pakistan, as professional as I have seen from them. If you asked most people who liked cricket about Pakistan they will know Amir, that's about it.

This is not the team of Wasim and Waqar, but they have turned up and played superbly. They put the ball in the right areas, caught everything and they have batted with discipline.

A proper cricket team who thoroughly deserve to win. England haven't got near them in any department.
Couldn't sum it up any better.

Bro what are thought
Bess and butler will play 2 test good for us bess bowling is nothing specail and butler apart from that inning doesnot look like will play well again with his unique technique

Another thing about records - we always seem to administer a post-Ashes beatdown on England:

Beat them in 2005 in Pakistan a few months after that summer's victory.

Beat them in 2012 a year after they beat Australia down under.

Beat them in 2015 in UAE a few months after they beat Australia in England.

We haven't won this series yet but another defeat imposed on England just a few months after the 4-0 defeat down under.
