The age of genuine fast-bowling is all but gone. Very few bowlers out there who can even dial it up to 145-150 consistently.

Mitchell Starc
Wahab Riaz
Shannon Gabriel
Billy Stanlake
Lockie Ferguson
Jofra Archer

Pat Cummins?

Anyone I'm missing? Also, who is the fastest? I think it has to be Starc followed by Wahab.

Riaz is likely finished at international level so probably no point in including him.

Amir is genuine 90mph and has shown it repeatedly.

I dont think Jofra is on that same level, then again I never saw him in the IPL.

You're missing quite a few actually, the pace battery of South Africa; Kagiso Rabada and Ngidi have the ability to consistently bowl above 90 MPH. They also have 28 year old Dala who is very quick.

New Zealand's Adam Milne and even Sri Lanka have a new lad bowling very, very fast - Kumara. There is Chameera too but he's dropped in pave, I've heard. There is also England's Mark Wood.

There's also James Pattinson but we rarely see him play.

As you can see, there are plenty of bowlers that can bowl frighteningly fast but a lot of them compromise on pace for control or merely, to reserve it for important matches; Amir is the biggest example, watch him play a random ODI with Sri Lanka on a flat track, he won't ever over-exert himself and only bowl in the 130's, however, you see him play an all important final vs India in front of a packed crowd, he will consistently around the 150 KPH mark.

Express fast bowlers need to play it smart, their most lethal weapon (pace) is also suicidal. This is why we see so many pacers so frequently injured.

I've never saw amir clocking even 145 ....even in that final against India.. And here you are talking about 150. He is basically a 135 - 140 bowler with an incredible ability to move the cherry both ways. But he is not FAST as you think.

This is joke. He is fast at times but never can consistently bowl at that speed. In tests i doubt his avg can even cross 135 - 136. Though very skillful bowler to get wickets at any pace.

Touching 90 mph once in a blue moon isn't the same as bowling above 90 mph on average.

LOL people saying amir is not 90 mph bowler.Amir bowled 90mph in Australia with ease. He regularly bowls around 88mph. Mitch starc is probably the fastest but wahab is not behind. Kagiso rabada is another one who can bowl 145ks consistently.Adam Milne was pretty fast earlier in his career but he has cut down his pace after injuries.

A few more instances.

A couple more instances of recent times are in mind, but these should be sufficient to make the point. Mohammad Amir's case is a peculiar one. When motivated enough, his rhythm and pace clicks in and he becomes lethal. His intensity clearly rises a tier or two on the big occasions.

Also, since the screenshots may not be of good quality, you can watch the video it self.

I would like to mention here is that for his age, Sami could also bowl upto 140 even today.

Rabada. Ngidi. I've seen them hit 145-150 regularly in multiple spells.

Cummins- perhaps. He's always coming back from injury and I haven't seen him over 145 consistently He may well be so soon though.

Pattinson- no. He's a 135-142 bowler now like Amir.

If people talk about "the death of fast bowling" they'll probably find there was never more than 6-8 bowlers in any given year bowling 145+

Note that I;m not talking about bowlers who COULD hit 145-150 and still being active, but actually hitting those speeds in that year. Plenty of bowlers like Amir, Gillespie, Siddle, even early McGrath etc had a year or two where they hit 145-150k but won't throughout a long career.

Walsh and Ambrose in exactly the same bracket actually. Express or near to in their peak years but usually medium fast but capable of switching gears.

Matt Henry? How fast is he? I remember him bowling with Venom against Ind which they won 4-0. He has a nasty lifter.

Boult?
