ICC CT 2017, Group B | Pakistan v Sri Lanka | 12th June, 2017 | Cardiff | Sri Lanka innings

Amir bowls three dot balls and Junaid's wicket is credited to him. Junaid bowled two maiden overs. Wonder why Amir is not good enough to take wicket on the pressure built by Junaid in his next overs?

Dickwella looks really good today out there. Happy with the start so far by Pakistan :). Junaid has surprised me, he's bowling well.

I agree. He needs to start bowling more attacking lines.

Sri Lanka have a strong domestic structure, and their school cricket in particular is top notch. All of their young batsmen are technical, dynamic and stylish. You can see that they have been properly coached.

Very true, I can see them overtake us in ODIs. They gave the Aussies very good contests too, whereas we folded.

I know right to many junaid haters on this forum man has been bowling better than amir since Australia series

We should keep low expectation from Amir. Unfortunately he lost his venom. He needs to work on a professional bowling coach in order to revive his career. Otherwise if we loose this match I fear Amir will be dropped as well.

It wasn't amir pressure or anything, guna just give it away.
You are too obsessed by amir.

Amir is a wicketless wonder. Like I said, a bowling version of Ahmed Shehzad. Bowls defensive lines to maintain his economy rate but rarely gets a wicket. Not sure how long that'll keep him in the team.

If they had our population, they would have done more. For a small island, they have punched above their weight. All of their top batsmen are product of school cricket, and they don't have tape ball culture.

No, he is the ODI version of Zulfiqar. Very apt analogy by Savak.

Amir doesn't bowl fuller most of the times. Just creates an angle and throws in. No wonder doesn't take much wickets. But fans have to defend him to maintain world class hype for him.

They need to pitch it up a bit more. Don't be afraid of getting driven. Already wasted precious little movement on offer

Imad's face and presence annoys me, and I'm guilty of experiencing schadenfreude whenever he gets smashed or fails with the bat.

Amir neither hits the surface hard , like English bowlers , nor does he pitch it further . Very defensive bowlers , something is holding him back.

I remember watching Sri Lanka's domestic t20 competition couple of years back on Tv ( not the slpl) and it looked the worst form of cricket I have ever watched on Tv. I presume their first class cricket system Wd be worst than ours however their school cricket is probably the best in the world and this is where these young boys graduate from onto the international scene. Not to forget their under19 teams hv always been top notch over the years. They also catch their talent young and introduce them to international cricket like we used to do before 2004-05 before inzi took over.

Ah, yes. I read that. Good comparison of the two bowlers but I also feel as though bowling such defensive lines has to do with him being perhaps selfish.

Imo even Bangladesh bowls better than Lanka, and Pak did well against them in warm ups.
The only thing going against Pak today is expectations.

We loose if they post more than 280. Customarily spineless batting made worse by selection.

Professor might be in his element today. He owes more than half of his career to Sri Lanka. Babar needs to show up as well, he has been batting in the Azhar/Shehzad/Hafeez mode for a while now.

That's a very funny thing to say.

I think he envisions himself as some modern, Salman Khan-esque star and tries to create that vibe.

You can't take the warm ups seriously, the fizz didn't bowl the death overs, pak were reduced to 240 for 8 when faheem come into bat, boundary on 1 side was 40 meters, clearly if this was a serious match then the intensity would've have been different

Is there any player you don't hate in this team also this guy has a good attitude and he's passionate about his Game but unfortunately he's crap.

Fizz needs dry surface, would had done well on yesterday's pitch.

Nice point by Sanjay Manjerker that Amir is bowling pretty wide of the wicket which is making it difficult to swing

For all Junaid fans watch how mediocre this phaaast bowler is.

All the good schools in Sri Lanka have professional cricket teams. Kids there play hard ball cricket and play proper matches and are guided by coaches. From there on, the top players get into the U-19 team and then the national team. They don't invest much in F/C cricket because their best talent comes from school cricket. As a result, their best players are intelligent and educated as well.

Look at Sangakkara, Jayawardene, Mathews etc., the way they carry themselves and communicate.

All I am saying is pak's 340 chase in warm ups means nothing, they won't chase anything above 280 in a pressure game, and this 280 is also due to weakness of lankan bowling, against a decent bowling attack, this pak batting won't even chase 240, so 300+ will definitely seal the deal for lanka

How is it that Junaid always manages to pick up a wicket with the new ball and Amir doesn't?

Imran Tahir took 4 wickets againat Srilanka. Shadab maybe not Tahir but he is a better attacking option than that trundler.

Can't believe Shadab was dropped. Garbage like azhar is in the team but you drop one of your most young and talented cricketer

Couldn't agree more but it's only handful of schools that are at the fore front in producing that talent and only kids from lower class don't manage to get into those schools..

Looks like Lanka peaked at the right time, funny no one accused England of peaking early, but said that for ICT.
