The winner of this match will play WI and the loser will play England, we know which team everyone would rather face. However, even if Pak/SL loses this you will expect them to beat England and would likely to face Bangladesh in the semi-finals. I think if Pak/SL wins this, they will face WI next match but will have to face India in the semi-finals. Now they have to face one of the favourites in the semi-final but the best option would be to win today, and beat WI rather than losing today and beating England.

SO it is

1) Win today, beat West Indies and face India in the SF, India are the best team in this competition
2) Lose today, face England and beat them, face Bangladesh in the SF. Now that is a big NO-NO because if you lose today, you not only lose confidence and momentum but you face two tougher teams - England/BD compared to WI/India. Keep in mind, BD are hosts and it will be tough because for the first time in their life they will be cheered against by a crowd.

So yes, in a way this is a very crucial match for both teams. Win today, WI are an easy team to beat no offence and then go on to face India with full momentum. You definitely don't want to face England with red hot form nor do you want to face BD on a jam packed stadium.

Its really confusing as to who faces who in the semi finals....Some places say winners of QF 1 play winners of QF 2 while some say QF 1 play QF 4! I personally think its India Bangladesh in the semis as thats what was stated initially stated.

SL younger bats aren't as bad as people were saying, some classy players.

Thats what i thought

It is India vs Bangladesh Semi-Final in the last two under 19 cups the winner of 1 vs 4 played the semi-final.

One thing I like about Pak keepers, they always keep shouting from behind the wickets. Shaba Shaba :)

That would mean Bangladesh vs Pakistan as Bangladesh vs Nepal is the 1st and Pakistan(if they win today) vs Westindies would be the 4th Quarter final. Although the Wikipedia page says winners of first two Quarters will face of in the semis on the Quarter Finals area but say QF 1 vs QF 4 on the Semi finals area! Thus the confusion

What is Arsal Sheikh doing in this team batting at XI and still to bowl. Getting extra special treatment wasting a spot

Sorry I meant to say winner of A1 vsD2 vs Winner of D1 vs A2 will face each other in the Semi-Final this was the format in the last 2 cups.

pakistan U-19 won U-19 wc cup 2004 and 2006 while got into semi final in 2008 , final in 2010 and 2014 but thus clearly looks poorest u-19 team

Well, how he is wasting a spot? Ain't a bad bowler at all.

Do you know his links with PCB? I will reserve my judgement till he bowls but from what I have seen a guy playing as a genuine bowler and bowling as the 6th option is waste of spot for me. Can easily fit another all rounder for him if he is playing as the 6th bowler

This U19 side clearly inferior to our teams in last 3 editions

Well those guys did not turn out to be great players at age level didn't they maybe this time inverse will happen and they will become good players.

i saw him bowling 126 couple of time. he is u19 so speed will increase 5 to 10 kph

He is 18 already, would hardly become 130kph bowler if he works very hard. HE will have to be a spectacular batsman to become a good AR. His bowling is below par

Sarfraz, Umar Akmal, Amir, Ehsan, Fawad all were very fine talents at U19 levels. This team looks mediocre

No you have got it wrong it's going to be India vs Bangladesh semi final the winner of A2 vs D1 will play winner of D2 vs A1

that would actually mean that we in theory could be facing the same team we faced in the group stages which is not supposed to happen. The team that qualified alongside us at best can face us in the finals. Don't think India - BD will be facing each other, as per some people. But as I said, not sure about anything right now

That does happen in SF, there is no rule that says you cant face same team in SF which you faced in GP stage

Yes, i know his father very well. He performed well against Australia, but today we will see him first time on screen, so let's wait.

No that is actually exactly how it is in the U-19 world cup...Atleast thats how its been for the past 3/4 events and i think at the start it was stated that Groups A and D play each other so i think it is India Bangladesh

It happens like in that Footie WC as well if i'm not wrong.

Pakistani U-19 lads catch better than the senior team but tbh SC teams always look better in U-19 and then never make it big.

This match is a story of poor umpiring. there were 2 times umpire didnt gave out when it was plumb when Pak was batting and now this.

Umpiring as such has been poor in WC, 3 decisions weren't given out during India vs Nepal all in Nepal's favour ,2 were plumb and one was hitting middle bails which was at least forgivable.

Lankan batsman are classy tbh need to improve their temperament and we can see future Sanga,Jaya,Dilshan

okay i have confirmation. As per ICC website, qualifier 1 winner faces qualifer 4 winner. which means should Bangladesh win vs Nepal they will be up against winner of qualifier 4, which will be one of WI/Pak/SL, yes that would be it.

And India/Namibia will be taking on one of England/SL/Pak

So it is, should Pakistan win today it will be

SF-1
Bangladesh VS Nepal(Q1)
West Indies VS Pakistan(Q4)

SF-2
England vs SL(Q3)
India vs Namibia(Q2)

This is as per ICC's website, not CI http://www.icc-cricket.com/u19-world-cup/fixtures

If these both stayed for 40 odd more runs, pak will lose the plot here....

Honestly, it is somehow all setup for an India vs Bangladesh final and it would be do the tournament a lot of justice because both teams are no doubt hot favourites. And England look good, but Bangladesh beat England by 100+ runs in the final. I reckon we will be facing the winner of SL/Pak vs WI and I would not really fancy ourselves as much against a SC side like Pak and SL to be quite honest.
