ICC World Cup 2023: India (229/9) remain unbeaten as they win against England (129) by 100 runs

After 30 overs, India is 131/3. Might be looking something around 250 260?

Rahul is doing a good job. Giving Rohit the security and confidence to start counter-attacking.

Somebody like Tilak Varma should have got groomed ahead of Shreyas Iyer. He would have brought left-handedness & bit of part-time bowling also into the equation... Plus he looks good for crisis situations! Iyer is an useless player who looks all good for money only when things are going well... India had enough time after IPL (where Tilak was found out) to fast-track into the national side... Still think Ishan Kishan would be better at top. Our ideal lineup should have been...

Rohit
Ishan
Gill
Kohli
Rahul
Tilak
Pandya
Jadeja/Shami
Kuldeep
Bumrah
Siraj

We would be having enough variety in terms of left-handedness and bowling options and batting depth... Also I don't know why they ignored Arshdeep (left-arm bowler) would have been more useful than Siraj (especially at death...)

Gill looks susceptible against new ball and Kohli (for whatever he has done in this tournament) has issues batting at No.3 at this age (which was found out in last 2-3 years and we have forgotten it already!)

This match is a good eye opener...
Kohli will always fail against new ball. He sucks vs outs wing and wrist spin. It's a fact over the last 4 years. Indians needs to stop kissing his butt.

Once he settles be can be devastating. But won't always happen.

Also india should pick jaiswal, patidar and varma. Rather than the 3 duds they have right now. Would be way more brutal.

Rohit has to be the best batsman in this WC

What an innings so far

Quite a few contenders in this WC for the "best batter" title:

De Kock
Kohli
Rachin
Warner
Rohit
Markram
Klaasen

I think De Kock has been the best batter. 3 centuries.

How does Rohit make batting look so effortless? I remember him scoring big runs in the 2021 England test tour to India, pitches were turning square, other batsmen would make every ball an event but this guy would sleepwalk his way to 50s and 100s.

Not a bad XI, yes - i too feel Tilak with his LH factor wold have been good.
I also feel Washi Sundar would have been good addtion as well (i think he is injured) and could do the Rachin Ravindra role
Still feel Washi has the potential to be our test opener once Rohit retires, he has the defensive game to open.
for Arshdeep, he has limited pace and wold be cannon fodder on odi's on indian pitches. he wold be like Thakur - only useful in SENA conditions.
Yes wahsingyon aubdar or axar also should ha e played. India seems very inept with selection. Lot of selection bias by the sounds of it.

Watch sky get owned today as usual.

Rahul mentally weak again. Poor batting.

KL....what a waste yaar.....you could have played a big match defining innings...but no....and this silly dikky shot

Kohli, Iyer and KL threw their wickets away today, trying to manufacture a needless shot.

Axar is injured hence not available for selection. Moreover when we have Jaddu whats the use of having 2 similar players. Tilka can also bowl so his addition in t20s is welcome as we have the t20 WC next year. Maybe give Iyer this WC. If he cannot overcome his short ball weakness we can slowly blood in Tilak.

He had done all the hard work and enabled Rohit to start forcing the pace.

It was the most idiotic shot. The bowling change was brought about by frustrating England up to that point.

360 suryakumar on the crease.
India will thankful to him if he even manage to score 360/10.

Rahul should have stayed till 40th over... That's a big loss. India would have reached 200 easily by the end of 40th over and reached 300 eventually...

That's why Kohli is important. And he should bat at No.4. He can rotate the strike and make the non-striker run hard. (Rohit & Rahul both reluctant runners) Then we don't need to take such risks to up the run rate in middle overs...

Ideally SKY or Kishan should be batting in Top 3. Kohli at No.4 (should be involved in such middle over partnerships always & should be shielded from new ball & lofted shots in the 1st power play...

Just found out that top 8 teams from this World Cup are qualifying for 2025 Champions Trophy.

England can miss out if they can't finish among top 8.

England won't finish outside 8 for sure.
They will definitely beat Pakistan, not sure about Netherlands though

Ha loser Rahul gone
Loser sky will go soon
Loser iyer gone

India can do so much better. They are an eyesore too.

Turn on the pitch is most here of all the matches which have been played in this WC.

Now think about Pakistan fan's as Pakistan were lost 51 wicket in 6 match where india 22 wicket in 6 match so far .

I actually took my post from Facebook and funnily enough the reactions there from Indian fans were similar

This must have struck a nerve because its so damn true. Same happens when the opposition hits a boundary.

This is where we miss Hardik big time. Hope SKY plays a big innings. Else we are cooked in this game

Last 10 overs the run rate had gotten up to virtually 6 RPO. Poor judgement from Rahul. The assault was on.

Provided conditions remain, and bearing India's attack in mind, 240-250 should be competitive. Talk of dew around 20-25 overs means India should at least get to use some of the conditions.

Looks like Rohit is batting on a different pitch. Another 100 runs could get tricky for England.
Shreyas Iyer needs to go. Despite his weakness against short ball, he is in the team for his ability to play spin and on slow wickets. Nothing from him after runs against Pak

Maybe in day games. But under lights pitch settles down and makes batting a bit easier. But yes it is still defendable for this Indian bowling...

He is trash. Been saying for ages. Sky him and even Rahul can go.

India have better players in their reserve unlike us. They are shooting themselves in the foot. Handicapping really.

If India don't win this WC, they'll have to wait until next WC in India to have any hope
Maybe you are right...maybe...
But what we also won't have is a stellar record of 0-12 in tests in a particular southern hemisphere country.
0-12 Consecutive... :ua

If Rohit stays till 40 overs, it may get ugly for England

Ouch you think that hurt me lol. It's a game. Chill. You guys haven't won anything since 2013. Sit down.
Atleast we won an icc event.
Lol. It does hurt you seeing india win, that's why you come out blasting your horns off when we do poorly. We have 1 more world cup and champions Trophy title than you. Pipe down!

Don't think Rohit will long lost. At 36, he has no stamina to play a longer innings.
I'm sensing his wicket

Rahul isn't going anywhere. He was gun against Aussies He can play seam and spin and at a fair clip. He was pathetic as an opener but is a very good middle order bat. Iyer is trash. India should groom that leftie Jaiswal after the WC
