I totally agree, and am indian.
I feel the same lots of times especially when opposition hits a boundary. the collective feeling is 'oh mg' and then they settle down to next ball to think it wont happen again. I dont think its rudeness, arrogance or unsporting but just a basic indifference to other's efforts or success. the problem is indian crowds are too fixated on landmarks. For example sachin, vk's useless batting records when winning is more important. Look at aus, their psyche and mindset is for winning where as we celebrate 100's.

On the flip side i would still say indian crowds back excellence and clap for landmarks and have overseas fav's ...for eg AB de V, warner etc

Loads of rubbish. Indian crowds have always been sportive. They have cricketing intelligence too. Nobody is so stupid to think there won't be another boundary after one is hit. There are massive crowds for IPL and these crowds are used to boundaries. It's just that Rohit's wicket was crucial so they were stunned. Indians don't like certain teams. Pakistan and Bangladesh usually. They care about records because they idolize the stars and are happy for them. All the fans do it. Been hearing about Babar's number 1 rank from Pak fans for a year too. But Indians care about winning more than anything like any other fans. Records are respected as long as there are wins.
