What a poor decisions by rohit to bowl first .this is same mistake that Virat did in 2017 CT final and sarfraz in 2019 wc match against India.

Because Kohli has an excellent track record of being a pakistan bully, and he's a master at chasing which is his stronger suit, he's good at batting 1st but chasing is his jam and so is Pakistan bowling.

Pandya also os an excellent chaser and loves batting 2nd. Historically however Indian openers like rohit perform poorly chasing against Pakistan and perform better while batting qst.

But statistically speaking the odds are stacked against us batting 1st then 2nd.

Why not score 350 here and bat Pakistan out of the match.
 
I had hopes that Gujarat would rise above being home to Modi-Shah, but looks like the pettiness of the BJP has seeped deep into their heartland. Disgusting boos when Babar started to speak. Sorry to say, Babar looked intimidated. Hope the rest of the Pak team turn up and provide a great game but India win of course, despite this crowd that seems third-class at this point.
 
As an Indian I'm very relieved that Fakhar isn't playing against us. Pakistan should have drop Imam for Fakhar. Fakhar is the most dangerous batsman from Pakistan right now in my opinion.
An out of form Fakhar is bigger match winner than inform Babar and Imam combined.

I agree, a 300+ total is going to put a tremendous amount of pressure on India with a full crowd. But Pakistan has to get the runs on the board first.
 
Why so negativity guys? You think Pak would have chased even 280 in front of this huge crowd. Even if the pitch was flat, Pak would have panicked chasing.

Their only chance of winning this game is batting first. I see this as a good toss to lose.

Yeah, as if our players won few tournaments in past 5 years. What does it cost to send someone else in toss. SL did that in the past. Its not madatory for captain to be there.

Sky Sports is covering this game from ground in their pre match show. They only do it for England games and takes ICC feed for other team matches. Good to see they made an exception for this clash.

What a fall from grace for Fakhar, Hero of the 2017 CT Finals not playing here. Does anyone think this fat lazy Imam going to provide Pakistan a good start ? Babar will come at the crease shortly.
 
I am not sure why we are disappointed here?

When have we ever felt comfortable chasing in a pressure game?

Pakistan’s best chance is to bat first and put a good total on the board.

Pakistan needs to focus on fielding the most. That's what ironically had cost us multiple times.

Our fielding is the worst against India for the past 10 years.

Even with out bowling unit, as long as we Block singles, get those direct hits in and take catches, we can beat them.

Don't know why we chock against India while fielding

Bro the great aussie and windies team was Nigh unbeatable either way, we aren't. No viv Richards, Glenn mcgrath, Shane Warne, Joel garner etc to hold our hands lol.

To win we need to play as a unit and focus on collectively dismantling them.

Great windies and great aus had players who could single handidely win you games, so even if the entire team didn't contribute, one or 2 contributions were enough on most occasions.
 
Anyone that has followed IPL games on this ground would know new ball swings here under lights. Shaheen Afridi will have a huge role to play. The dew will only kicks in after 35 overs or so..

I think Rohit made a mistake on toss

not intimidated. It was a contrast for him from hyderabad to ahmedabad. he is probably expecting a friendly crowd like in hyderabad. More than intimidation, I see babaar disappinted loosing the toss.
 
Whatever Pak score India will chase it down with 7-8 overs to spare.
WC final at this stadium will also be a one sided affair. It will be decided by toss

Shaheen can come hard at us in the first 10 overs. Irfan pathan was skeptical about India chasing since haris/shaheen can come hard at Indian top order.
 
Happy to hear Pakistani anthem to be performed in Narendra Modi stadium.

They were mocking us for flat belters when they have flat belters and can't even afford to get detol and ajax spray to wipe bird doodoo of their spectator seats or get tickets for their fans.

By the way, I do not think pressure is one way road. Everyone already thinks we will lose and because of that we have nothing to lose.

If India gets badly beaten here they will destroyed by their media and particularly nationalists. Who knows how some of their guys will deal with such pressure?
 
It should be the last chance for imam ul haq. If he doesn't score it should be the end of journey for him.

I don't blame the crowd 100% though. Thing is India is an awaam with a population of over 1.5 billion at this point and unlike China, India has a very low literacy rate and massive poverty rate.

Yes it's a developing country and many of their middle class people speak English and are educated but many of their folkes who are lower class aren't so them booing is a Part of their culture. Its how they were raised compared to Pakistan which is a Muslim deep country where even our uneducated folkes are friendly.

I do however blame bcci. You have Bird doo doo on your seats and you can't even properly implement security, viewership and ticket buying measure.

Your broadcast had the televised scorecard dissappear for some of the games in a world cup opener 😂😂😂.

This works for chasing, not for batting first. For batting first you need to try and bat at 5-8 from the get go, take singles, punish bad balls, accelerate as much as possible, try to post the biggest total.

This is why we falter a bit batting first I the current era.

I think there will be swing in evening so that will assist your pacers and you can easily put India under pressure especially if batsman also have put good total in first inning. It could be a Champions Trophy'17 like scenario.
