ICC World Cup 2023: Sri Lanka (160/2) extend England's (156) win-less streak with a humiliating 8-wicket win in Match 25

After 26 overs, England is 123/7. Chris Woakes is gone coutacy of an excellent catch. Their batting has nose dived big time in the most important game for them.

NZ is one of the worst touring side to INdia in one dayers. THey always lose left right center here. Even Australia is not that good. But better than others. SA is alright team especially when they had AB. But NZ knows it is not a bilateral it is one match against one opposition. They just have to be better than them. Srilanka perennial losers in INdia as far as i can remember. Windies is a slightly better touring side than England. Wish we had them here.

If they had continued playing Pathirana that would have been the csae lol They took a while to get their XI right. With Lahiru, Rajitha they look a better side
 
England didn't exactly dominate either 2019 or 2022 world cup. They did lose to Ireland in 2022. They also lost a lot of matches in 2019. They were hanging by a thread. Why are they bragging about it like they were dominating everyone

Slightly tricky pitch they are falling like pack of Cards .
They were played recently all test matches on flat track still not win the ashes

England got all the rights to be overconfident the way they were smashing teams before world cup and they give spanking to overrated australia in semis in 2019 cant forget that.
 
I don't think Australia can win if pitch are little bit spin friendly.

They were prepared most batting friendly pitch for them in 2019 world cup .

India has the most varied pitches across the country. Only pitch that deviated from traditional nature was Delhi. Other pitches behave the way they are expected to behave.
 
Sri Lanka can chase anything around 250 .
Dont forget they have Angelo Mathews service which can Stop middle order collapsed if it happens

For someone like me who has regularly followed English cricket, this is beyond form. It's an issue of old, out of shape and injured players being picked in a squad which was haphazardly put together after spending years building for the T20 world cup.

I think pre tournament I called them "the walking wounded"...now they are more like the walking dead.

England are my second team but this is pathetic. Stokes couldnt even hold back for a few overs.

Terrific bowler rotation by the captain here too, credit for that.

Losing wickets to Genuine express bowler, medium pacer, military medium trundler who bowls after 3 years don't indicate nature of pitch. If they can't bat against any type of bowling that is not the problem of pitch.

Would say India's bowling has been ruthless and relentless honestly. Not so much batting. Their batting has 3 mentally weak players and also have chinks in certain conditions.

Bowlers are brilliant. High quality pace. Imo if they get rid of loldeep and play axar or ashwin they would be more potent.

In IPL Buttler is the only decent batsman from England in recent times. He should have opened the batting in the world cup. He could have set the tone.

In England no one cares about cricket the average joe doesn’t know eng are double World Cup holders.

Only the sub continent fans are low lives hold onto every kohli baba stats.
 
The problem is their bowling is worse than their batting. On a good day Srilanka will hit their clock cleaned

Winning just one odi world cup from past 45 year is good enough? India were also won back to back icc trophy in 2011 and 2013 .
England are most overhyped team .
 
Srilankans are good at this. I remember once Sehwag was sleep walking when Sangakkara ran him out at non strikers end.

Siraj and Pandya have been very expensive from memory.

Bumrah has been very good but I think thats about it. Shami of course very good in his come back, no idea why he doesnt play more often.

Yadav has been the best but he isnt a pace bowler.

Could India's batting line up crumble? Of course, certainly if they have to set a score in knock out conditions.

Aussies don’t play most of their starters in “ranking booster” games. One thing England has in abundance is lots of above average cricketers, cricketers still better than second tire teams or against compromised XIs but ICC events don’t give that luxury.

In this “revolution” if English cricket, we have been gifted the biggest fraud of the game - someone listed with Gilchrist, Sanga, Kok or MS ….. guess who?

Would be okay with Pakistan playing like this in a World Cup after winning two World Cups in the last 4 years. It is not England's responsibility to win every World Cup. They have been suffering from success for a long time now.

Yea maybe. Wonder if that's always been the case though. Cricket is bit of an elitist sport to be honest. Very expensive so only an exclusive group may be familiar with what is happening around the cricket world.
 
They probably needed Jason Roy here. He is not consistent. But he can be dangerous. Also Root should retire from ODIs. Whatever happened to Crawley, Duckett
