What's new

India [206/2] beat South Africa [204] by 8 wickets to win ODI series 5-1

True, but for something to be called a formula, it should work more than once or people call it a fluke.
This post looks a case of sour grapes coming from a fan of a certain team. Any other teams' fans opinions would be taken into consideration I'm sure.

Lets see what Indian middle order does today. They will get their chance again.

Wow, just wow. Kohli is something else. I can watch his batting all day.

Perfect opportunity for Rahane to inflate his already inflated mediocre average and cement his spot on this Indian ODI team.

How many players has SA lost due to KolPak.... Imagine Rossouw in this middle order. He would easily be the best player in the team after AB. SA need to manage their talent better, no nation can afford to keep losing world class players.

It looks like Kohli is playing on a completely different surface compared to the other players. This guy is a genius.

Kohi on his way to another century and in good time too. Would be a nice ending to a great ODI series for him.

I merely defined "formula". You are the one who brought up CT and how "certain fans" feel.

always the best batsmen are those who are not in the team.. he made some runs against WI. Only against Aus he has had good runs and mediocre against everyone else..

The temperament to be up for it and play like this in a dead rubber, unbelievable. Really has the attitude to be the best, not just settle for being one of the best.

Nicky Boje 4th in the list of Max runs scored in a 6 match series. AB who ???

He was coming into his own.... Showed good skills in the PSL as well when Saffer batsmen are not renowned for their spin playing abilities (as seen in this series)

As per PP, it was dead rubber, SA was depleted side, blah blah blah....waiting for more excuses.... that's why every other batsmen score tons after tons in SA against SA......what's the big deal???

Thought India would give Pandaya or Iyer a chance . They need the batting practice as they already know what Rahane is capable.

Dhoni is the one who needs practice. His almighty heaves are barely crossing 30 yard ring.

Kohli is a great player, imagine how good this team would be if he just could pick a good team.

This is legit the greatest ODI batting I have seen. PP is a cricket forum. I bet if he wasn't Indian then everybody would be on this thread.

Gavaskar idiot saying Kohli got his first century after 100 games and next 100 matches , he got 35.

Gavaskar is on drugs .. saying Kohli got his 1st 100 in his 105th match and then scored anoher 34 in the next 100 matches. What an idiot, that is 1 100 in every 3 matches.

I remember seeing this guy for the first time against Bangladesh in first match of WC 11. Never knew he would turn into the GOAT.

Since when did PSL become benchmark for international cricketers

Stupid bowling by SA here. Bowling short ball to Kohli and he is easily scoring.

It is the league of the top ranked T20 side in the world. I think it is has more importance than some lullo panju leagues.

Kohli could have his hands tied to his head, his head tied to his shins, his shins tied to his back and still score a century

SA spoiled my Friday by making this match non-contest... King Kohli made-up with master class century :kohli2

I am just happy to see Kohli score a century here. Rohit not being around to run him out surely helped.

Worse than srilanka series we played last year. No plans and looked like they gave up too easily against kohli & co.

Kohli just said that he has another 8-9 years of cricket still left in him.

The other day I read somewhere that he scored 100 runs just in singles and doubles in his 160. Here he scores 88 just in boundaries in his 129. Shows his versatility

VIRAT KOHLI put his indelible stamp on a famous Indian victory when he scored his 35th ODI century and his third in the current series to lead his side to a decisive 5-1 victory over the Standard Bank Proteas following an 8-wicket victory with almost 18 overs to spare in the final Momentum ODI at SuperSport Park on Friday evening.

It has been a performance that has outshone any other international captain to come to this country. It was only appropriate that he himself should hit the winning runs with a classic straight drive off Imran Tahir, having during the course of his innings (129 off 196 balls, 19 fours and 2 sixes) reached the milestone of more than 500 runs in the six-match series.

The only way the Proteas could defend their sub-par total of 204 after they had once again be bowled out inside the 50 overs was to take a lot of early wickets but that never looked like happening as Shikhar Dhawan and Kohli put on 61 for the second wicket and then Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane a further unbeaten 126 for the third.

The fact that India hit 19 boundaries in the first 20 overs of their innings was indicative of the command they exercised over the South African attack.

The irony of the Proteas poor batting performance was the fact that this time the major damage was inflicted by the three Indian seamers rather more than the spinners with Shardul Thakur, playing his first match of the series, taking 4/52 and the three seamers 7 wickets in total between them.

It was an oft repeat story for the South African batting line-up. The only match they dominated was the one that was reduced to a virtual T20 affair but in the other contests they were unable to post big partnerships with very few individual scores of note. India had five centuries in the series with the only reply for the Proteas coming from Faf du Plessis in his lone appearance before dropping out injured.

The one positive this evening was the way Khaya Zondo grabbed his opportunity to make his career best 54 (74 balls, 3 fours and 2 sixes).

But there could be no getting away from the fact that India outplayed the Proteas in all disciplines virtually throughout the series.

It goes without saying that Kohli was named Momentum Man of the Match and Momentum Man of the Series.

129 off 96 balls

This was one of those matches which didn't leave any room for ifs & buts. Thoroughly dominating performance from the start to the end.

I'm sure it would be immensely painful for some as well. There's hardly any room for hiding now.

SA was saving themselves for OZ series !

By giving such pathetic excuses, few posters here questioning integrity of proud cricketing nation like SA, just to make it suitable for their anti-India agenda

Lets see what happens in the Tests. Is there an ODI leg for the SA - AUS tour ?
