Can the Hitman get a 200 in South Africa? :amir2 or is it a laughable thought?

India have only won five out of 28 ODIs in South Africa, none in Durban. Can they win today?

Should be a good game. Hopefully it's a competitive series and India fight hard.

I'm far more optimistic about our bowling this time than from any past ODI tours. Its usually SA racking up 300+ scores and pasting our bowlers.

Hoepfully Sharmaji ka beta shows up. And VK hits a few hundreds and boosts up the away average. We need atleast 3 victories.

Without AB, India are the favorites.

RSA aren't the team that they were once, even our below average team beats them plenty now. Like of the top of my mind I can remember like 4 or five matches that we've won against them in the last 9 or ten matches that we've played against them. Earlier it used to be a blood bath for us.

Sharma ji ka ladka is going to score at least one big one. He's probably seething and having a lot of pent up frustration after the test series.

India should have gone with Pandey over Rahane/Jadhav. Chahal and Yadav are good picks. Dont think India would be able to chase above 275 under lights here.

Does Kohli hate winning or something? This insistence at trying to prove Rahane as a good odi batsman is as bad as the experiment with Rohit as test batsman.

Two spinners in the XI. When was the last time it happened in SA? Bold movie by Kohli.

de Kock performance going to be clinical for the SA with AB missing the first 3

He's always a different beast in coloured cloth,so let see how he's gonna act here

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat

South Africa XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis (capt.), Aiden Markram, JP Duminy, David Miller, Chris Morris, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir

India XI: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (capt.), Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal

Nowadays people start lambasting kohli for everything he do,if iyyer would have start instead of rahane some other would have said the same for not selecting the latter

Arm chair critics and keyboard warriors always think they are better than the ones playing on the field. It's the Darwin's 5th law of the Universe.

Phehlukwayo and Morris will go for runs most probably and duminy's part time spin is no more effective these days. Then with only 3 specialist bowlers SA bowling look toothless suddenly

SA team itself is pretty weak

It is a good team except for Kedar Jadhav. I think this series will decide the future of Kedar Jadhav!

Is that why they are on a 17-win streak in ODIs at home?

3 against Bangladesh, 5 against SL and 1 against Ireland. And 5 against a 2nd string Australia side with a bowling line up of Tremain (who?), Menni (who?), Boland (who?) and Zampa.

The team has a lot of weaknesses which can be exploited and is now missing their best batsman

With Southafrica missing AB and having to play substandard cricketers like phehlukwayo its a massive opportunity for India to win their first ever ODI series in Southafrica .
About time too.

The only place for rahane in an ODI batting lineup is the opening slot in places like SA/ENG/NZ if at all there is any movement. Hes not a dynamic enough batsman to bat at 3/4. Kedar is overrated and is a liability on the field and Dhoni is well past it. This team is gonna get hammered at the next World Cup lol. 2007 like shock is what we need.

Phehlukwayo isn't substandard. If anyone is its JP who will always feature in XI

Some batting averages post 2010s:

ABDV- 65
Kohli- 56
Amla- 52
Rohit- 50
Sanga- 53
Taylor- 50
Root- 51

It is really carnage from batting.Qdk should join sooner.

Flat pitch. We are set for a 300+ game.

Indian bowlers will restrict as much as possible, it is left to our batsmen actually to win this series (a golden chance at that! And not mess up like test series)

Why did they bring in Imran Tahir? Pernall would have been better choice. Unpredictable but got killing instinct.

Unable to watch this live :(

How's the pitch looking? Runrate seems a bit low.

Wonderful sunny day, quite a good pitch for batting. India has bowled well so far, hence the RR is a bit on the lower side.

Pandya's appearance suggests he rather be on a catwalk somewhere than on a sports field representing his country.

Picking any of iyer, pandey or rahul have pros and cons but rahane is a tried and failed candidate, it is time to move on. Rahane is not going to be a ODI batsman the same way rohit isn't a test batsman, and this has nothing to do with kohli, i didn't like dhoni picking rahane is odi's much either.

Faf du Plessis lucky ball hitting stumps india has not optd for review

Chahal bit un lucky

** now gets de Kock

It will seam around under lights, going to be a difficult chase looking at the way Pandya is bowling, need to keep taking regular wickets.

QdK :out

83/ 2 off 15 overs

Bhuvi the ODI bowler is only useful in the death overs. We have 2 wrist spinners, lets see how effective they would be here!

Didn't Duminy retire from international cricket recently? Hmm, might have been tests only...
