India [329 & 352/7d] beat England [161 & 317] by 203 runs to win 3rd Test Match

Hope Rashid scores a gritty half century tomorrow and secures his place for the next test...skillful player and lad deserves it

I don’t want to see Sam Curran in England lineup. He is a beast when there is cloud cover.

Sympathy to those who dreamt of an English fight back while Butt and Stokes were playing.

Yepp...Curran is just 20year old and inexperienced as well..cant risk him..hope english management takes a good look at legend Rashid performance in this match and persists with him throughout the series...lad got some crucial wkts and made useful runs down the order...cant drop him for sure!!!

Quite foolish. Chases of this magnitude will need a strong opening partnership to have any chance whatsoever. For all the records that have been broken recently in cricket, West Indies' highest ever chase won't be broken for a long, long time.

What a time for Ashwin to have that hip injury. Was a perfect opportunity for hi. today to bowl us to a win. Records books will show he bowled 20 overs for no wickets again.

Also, with him likely to be sidelined now, good opportunity to get Jadeja for 4th Test and later, play both Jadeja andKuldeep at Oval.

Kuldeep in place of whom?

This has been a tough series for batsmen with clouds hovering for almost 80% of the time. Busted many peoples myth that pitches will be flat considering Aug month!

Especially from Indian side no one is scoring except Kohli

Nottinghamshire have decided to give a refund to all those who had bought tickets for the final day.Admission will be free.

Well done! Yesterday they had posted , they would charge £10 for the final day. It would have been crazy paying such money for potentially 1 over.

w00t test win in England!

India's Test wins in England (7)
Wins - Ground (Year)
1 - The Oval, London (in 1971)
2 - Lord's, London (in 1986 & 2014)
2 - Headlingley, Leeds (in 1986 & 2002)
2 - Trent Bridge, Nottingam (in 2007 & 2018)

If we were going to be 2-1 down, much rather win this test rather than either of the first two.

Now the momentum is with us.

8 day break in between the two tests. Too long for us fans, good for the players.

Indians can go another Europe tour :sarf

And that's all over. Great win for us.

Good to see Ashwin bowling today and getting a wicket. Slightly better pivot which could be an indicator of his injury gradually healing. Hope he is fully fit for Southampton.

Did not realise it was a 8 day gap! We could have scheduled a 3-day practice match in between to give the guys on bench a go and be ready just in case they are needed.

India thrashed England in England.

Kohli proved he is without doubt the best batsman in the world and a certified ATG.

Pandya did a Sobers.

Not a good day :ssmith

Hey Robbie Robert, what happened brother? Is it true that so called Dumbslog millionaires just beat your lot?? Lol

Show some humility or did you forget the recent thrashing no 1 team got in the last test?

What do you mean? It was he who called Indian team Dumbslog millionaires during lords test. So I am just asking (politely), how the mighty English lost against such a team??

Happy to see us win this test. But no team has won 2 back to back tests in England in the last 17 years so that doesn't bode well for us.

Before this test we had won a grand total of just 1 match in last decade in England. He has every right to call us names based on our pathetic performances in last two tours.

Yes. Well played India.

Problems for England now with their batting in disarray, and the Indian batting playing proper test cricket not Dumslog Millionaire stuff.

India have defied odds here. Well done. Ishant sharma has looked brilliant. Never thought i would say it. Also, Bumrah's spell just broke the back of English resistance. Still not convinced with Pandya but his contribution was crucial as well. And Kohli lead well from the front in this game. With bat and in the field. I think India should revisit Pujara's place in the side. Even after his 72, he simply doesnt look in form. Options to replace him are limited in the squad though.

From English side, I think cook's time is over. He has been a dud for a long time. And idk where they found the mediocrity that Jennings is. Perhaps they should think about opening with root and promoting Butler to number 4. They need two solid batsmen. Vince is not an option because he has been given too many chances. Troubling times ahead for English batting line up in my opinion. Bowling is doing well but they should also try to find some options other than Anderson and Broad who are ageing.

No,he has had bad spells at best but is not least effective. Jaddu will come in for Ash(coz injury).

I think the question was who to drop besides Ashwin if both both Jadeja and Kuldeep were included.

Anderson and Broad bowled a lot of overs in this match. There's a good chance that England might not be able to play both of them for the next two matches.

We might see Curran coming in for Broad.

Also surprised that Broad actually has a test century. He seems even less capable with the bat than Shami.

He got hit on his head once while batting. He has lost his batting talent ever since. Its crazy when you think about the psychological aspect of the game and how one bad incident can absolutely kill your Mojo.

India have won this Test match convincingly with Pandya being the difference in England's 1st Innings.

But they still have two more Tests and the next one is at the Rose Bowl.

India will probably win at the Oval so the next match should decide the fate of the series.

Great performance by India. Absolutely thrilled especially after what happened at Lords.

Hope that was our at least 1 mandatory pedestrian performance on overseas trips out of the way.

He was a budding allrounder in his younger days. He copped a bouncer to the face and self admittedly basically lost confidence/will/desire in his batting after that.

His century came in the test the no-ball fixing scandal broke so it was a very strange match, with a dispirited bowling attack.

Congratulation India! This is more like a #1 team.

I got busy at work this week but had to congratulate Ind fans. Unlike a certain troll, I would not call it a fluke win even if it turns out to be the only victory for India in the series. I had predicted 4-0 which I am proven wrong. Eng made a big mistake dropping the guy who was getting wickets and scoring runs.

That's very unfortunate. It's never nice to hear about players getting injured on the field, especially when they leave mental scars.

He should have hired Mohinder Amarnath (my favorite Indian cricketer along with Sunil Gavaskar) as a "courage coach". Hit on the head by Holding, he came back from his injury and stood tall and hooked the very next ball.

"Mohinder Amarnath's bravery for India was a lesson for the cricket world", The Guardian, "Richard Hadlee fractured his skull, Imran Khan knocked him unconscious, Malcolm Marshall dislodged his teeth, Thomson cracked his jaw and Michael Holding sent him to hospital to have stitches put in his head."

Congrats to India, for a wonderful comeback - this series in truly live now.

Weird, given that everyone before the nineties was a dibble dobbly slow medium pacer and the ball never had enough force behind it to do any damage.

Pretty sure even a 70 mph ball can knock a batsman's teeth out if he's not wearing a helmet.

Anil Kumble Ended Saba Karims career and was also responsible for fracturing Graeme Smiths ribs .

What? Thompson, IK, Marshall etc. "dibble dobbly?

As per Wisden "[Thomson and Lillee]... it was easy to believe they were the fastest pair ever to have coincided in a cricket team".

From the sounds of it Amarnath should have hired a "How to get out of the way of bouncers coach"

India is not going to win 3-2. It's unlikely. If I am right, only one team in entire history has come back from 0-2 to win a test series.

England are still the favorites to win the series, but according to the bookies their chances have taken a severe hit. Now they are only 1.1 to 1.75 ahead of India in the bookies odds.

Nothing like that. I was only pointing out the flaw in Robert's premise. His intended message still stands, however.

Iam not sure you know this but according to Robert almost EVERytHING in cricket was better back in the day. Bowlers were faster and better the batsmen even better ... pitches a big nightmare to bat on and not to forget they were all just as much professionals as the current lot. Just as long as you dont ask difficult questions. Once you do ...... you will get the silent treatment .

I believe it has more to do with nostalgia rather than facts. Of course genuinely great players back then like Sobers, Viv, Lillee, the WI fast bowlers, etc were special or else they wouldn't receive such universal acclaim but to assume that overall standards were far superior back then is pure bullox.

Good win for India but what happens next is the most important thing. How they play at Southampton with determine how good of a win this was.

Virat's record at toss is absolutely atrocious. Hope he makes up for it in next 2 tests.

Also, knowing him he doesn't play same XI in any of consecutive tests, so who'll miss out?

Shami, probably?

No player stood up to the West Indian pace mafia like Amarnath. He not only fought but smashed WI in WI. Kapil Dev said if you saw Jimmy bat in that series you woiod bow down to him and touch his feet for the courage and determination he showed.

Oh. I see. Well it's easy to romanticize the past. But surely that's not true. It's not true for any sport, not just cricket.

To answer your question look at Jack Hobbs batting footage and you will know that nobody will pay money to watch him bat today. But I can assure you he was a big celebrity and considered a special player more than any WI fast bowler from the 70s was. How is that possible?

Jack Hobbs played a long time ago. Cricket evolved a lot after that. He was definitely very special back in his day among his contemporaries, but to assume that he was superior to those great batsmen since the days of Sobers is just being silly. Similarly, those great batsmen since Sobers's time were definitely special. But to assume that they were in a completely different league to the great batsmen since the 90's is just being nostalgic, nothing more. Cricket became very different since the 90's with the players having to endure far more work load and grueling schedule than players before that time.

Like I said, romanticizing the past is a habit for us fans. Everything appears all rosy and better for fans that happened during their time compared to today. I sometimes wonder whether they'll someday claim that even fielding was better back during those days than it is now :))

Don’t be daft, nobody before the nineties was that quick. Amanarth clearly had no technique against fast bowling because it didn’t exist then.

As for the injuries, perhaps he had some sort of condition like Sam Jackson in Unbreakable.
