K L Rahul is very very frustrating. One unbelievable innings followed by a string of low scores. Even Rohit is more consistent as an opener.
 
2 best batsmen gone. And now we're left depending on Gabbar, Yuvi etc. :))
 
OK... So rohit and rahane are confirmed as openers in England and Rahul as backup opener

He can but India can't, it's the same process that we're seeing for the last 3~4 years. He puts too much pressure on the other batter, then either we don't make a good score or lose an easy chase like the 4th ODI in Aus.

It's not chase. And the position we are in right now.we should look at 270 as our first target and that will happen if dhoni stays at crease. He will change everything in last 10. India can afford some dot balls right now but not dhoni's wicket...

Playing 14 dots in a row is justified how? The other pensioner (according to some experts over here) just hit six boundaries! Oh btw 270 will not be enough, not even close to a par score on this pitch.

I didn't say it's enough but said it should be our first target it will change as per situation.14 dots not justified but it's better not to lose a wicket.
 
Rahane will be in for Dhawan next game. almost sure of it. deservingly so too. Two bad dismissals. At least Rahul can say he got two good deliveries.

Been surprised today. But tell you what, you'll find that replacing the non performing seniors with young talent will always give you more results than persisting with the big names.

It is the young talent who have always delivered for us in tournaments be in the 2007 T20 WC or 2013 Champions trophy.

I would want Pant included in place of Dhawan and Pandey included in place of either Yuvi or Dhoni. Ideally I would keep Yuvi and replace Dhoni.

I would go for players who are good irrespective of their age(unless they are unfit)

don't go by some arm chair critics he is in good form. did well in practice match, looked good in first match before being cought down the leg side. brilliant innings today.

This will add to India selection problems.
 
Dhoni can go on until the 2019 WC quite easily. The players who need be replaced are Dhawan, Rahane and Yuvi.
 
It is up to India's bowling now! Hope Bhuvi swings it a bit on the winter evening pitch and Jaddu/Ashwin do their magic tricks! Hope the Indian bowlers can manage a 50+ or 100+ win here (more than just running the match close and win it) and prove that they are better than so called other strong bowling lineups!
 
Excellent show by Yuvi today.

Yuvi looks great but have to see whether he can maintain it against better pacers or spinners when they get turn. I have seen similar trends from him in Ipl recently.

Last game, he showed sparks of old self but wont jump to any conclusions.

Dhoni has to go though.

Correct! I think Yuvi is warming his place for some youngster (if not Pandey someone else). I don't think Yuvi can be consistent in what he is doing today! But replacing Dhoni is way way difficult (the wicket-keeper batsman spot! First of all it is difficult to find a better wicket-keeper let alone better batsman! All those sharp stumpings, run-outs are so crucial and gold in LOIs even more than Test matches!) I think Dhoni will feel insecure about his place in the team only when he loses those sharp reflexes in his keeping! Until then he will feel safe.
 
This almost feels like rolling back the clock by 10 years!! What a joy to watch these two bat together

if we go by that standard do you think Rohit or Kl Rahul deserve to be in team?
 
Lack of spinners in English team worked to the advantage of Yuvaraj I think! If Yuvi has to remain in the team he should at least be able see-off the good spinners if not taking advantage over them (He never relished playing against them anyways).
 
Double century here for the taking for Yuvi - and boy does he deserve it after his health issues. Huge respect for coming back the way he has.
