India (96/2) trail by 242 runs at Stumps on Day 2 of the 3rd Test against Australia

Really impressed by India here, no doubt that they are the best side in the world currently.

Showing Ravi Shastri, the current water boy, hitting 206 in Sydney 1991-92, smashing Aussi bowlers all round the park, the only double century made by Indian test batsmen till date.

Indian opener you mean, Sachin has a 241

Only double century made by Indian opener.

Its so weird that eventhough am streaming thr match I have got into the habit of browsing score

LOL, meant he really likes to be around the India cricket team and feeling is mutual.
However, his taste in woman is as impeccable as that of Yuvraj or Imran Khan.

Love watching Gill bat. On his debut series against the world's best bowlers, look at the shots he's playing. Excellent stuff.

Shastri is known for his womanising way. Pandya, Kohli, Rahul etc probably take tips from him, but none as good.

Hmm Guess the umpires are going to give decisions against us meaning onfield decisions would stay.. better watch out

Just give strike to gill when Lyon bowl & Rohit to when fast bowlers Bowl

India should look to bat the whole day tomorrow and get to 400 + Aus will then be under serious pressure on day 4.

Rohit threw it away, a nothing shot on a nothing ball.

What a batsman Gill is, gets so solidly behind the ball! His non selection in the first test was such a fraud by Kohli!

Gill looks like a good prospect. He plays simple cricket, has backfoot/front-foot play, and plays balls on merit.

Despite all his failures in first 2 tests, it was really harsh on Mayank to get dropped for Rohit on a flat deck like this.

Exactly. If I understand correctly, Mayank Aggrawal has a great FC record - it would have been better to stick with him than Rohit who is a TTF in tests.

Not only that, he was made VC in tests straightaway which was a travesty.

Another one. Two more today will work nicely for Aus...

Gill has shown the right technique to negotiate Lyon. He is ever so ready to play him on front foot rather than back foot which is how rest of Indian bats bar Kohli play him.

This is a make or break partnership. India needs to bat till third session tomorrow if they want to take a lead. Gill looked good but thrown it away.

How is Cummins getting purchase even from this track with 34 over old ball? Best fast bowler in the world.

From the AUS POV, Starc needs to deliver and soon. Has hardly been bowled by his captain and over the last few seasons has not had the spoils.

Do not have his numbers post Sandpaper gate but would be really interestedd to see them.

Shaw found himself out of the team due to injury. You can't drop him without giving him the chance to prove himself again.
Even though he proved to be crap in the only practice game before the first test and his only rival outbatting him comfortably in that game?

Yeah. Until he fails in a Test, he hasn't done anything to deserve getting dropped.

Playing straight away without match practice is not easy for any test opener.
Actually Rohit looks solid but unfortunate out.
He just need to control his nerves.

No he was not solid, he was struggling against Lyon. Infact, he has a terrible record against Lyon. This track is as flat as a road-roller & tailor made for Sharma, yet he was struggling. If lack of match practice was to be used as an excuse, then better play somebody else.

And lot of water has flown under the bridge since that injury. I know it may have been tad unfair on him but he has only himself to blame for this, with his weight issues, poor form in IPL, practice game which correctly or incorrectly has become a parameter for selection even in tests.

Agree with this.

Giving him the chance to prove himself was the right decision by the management. He failed and has rightfully found himself dropped.

This is interesting from CI,

"Australia played 15 maidens in 105 overs. India have already played 18 in 38. This might hurt them later on."

This strategy is ok as long as they can put the bowlers out on the field as long as they can. There is very little chance of winning here . Only thing India can do is waste as much time as possible force Australian quicks to expend as much energy as possible and fight out a draw

These two are batting in the exact opposite direction of Rohit and Gill. It seems Rohit and Gill took the pitch they were batting on back to pavillion. :inti

Won't be a draw. Either an Indian win or an Aus win.
