Hussain: All credit to India
Sky Sports Cricket's Nasser Hussain...

"Stokes and Bairstow bat very well together and they will be attacking – whether you can be as attacking against this India line-up we will find out. All credit to India – people wondered whether they would be undercooked for a one-off Test, they have no Rohit Sharma or KL Rahul, but they have bossed this game so far."

KP's advice for England

Kevin Pietersen, talking to Sky Sports...

"You don’t need to hit fours and sixes, you don’t need to hit them over mid-off. Get the bowlers into their second and third spells. It could be a really nice day for batting so why not fight for the next eight overs? Don’t give your wicket away and say ‘that’s the way that we play’. "

98 overs today

scheduled hours of play

1030-1230 1st session
1230-1310 Lunch
1310-1540 2nd session
1540-1600 tea
1600-1800 3rd session
30mins to complete the overs

Good day for batting now.. let’s see how it goes. Test for Bumrah coming up.

2 freebies already since morning, English batsmen showing good intent

Jhagra ho gaya...Kohli back at his antics again..needless fight with Bairstow

Not that KP often followed this advice in his own career.

England has got to 100, with lots of play and misses.

Kohli as usual behaving like an idiot. And honestly it doesn't help. Best example is Capetown Test. All the whinings and sledging didn't made any bit of difference.

some plays and misses, inside edge ....i feel if the sun comes out and it stops swinging, Stokes will start swinging....i guess siraj and Lord beefy will be in service very soon

Sort of a lone voice as well. The other Indian players probably find it quite cringe.

It doesn't make any difference either. He thinks if he gets into a player's skin, he will get the better of it. We saw what happened in Capetown early this year.

sick of his antics. his obvious talents apart, he overdoes it.

Was never going to be dull this was it. You can see what England’s plan is. Counterattacking with shots and running 1s & 2s really hard.

Things getting tense

Thakur has always been a poor fielder and today is no different.

hang on, i missed the live action and just based on the above i felt Kohli just reacted.
It was bairstow who behaved like a total tool....cut some slack where its due, bairstow aint no saint

If there is no swing happening, Thakur will go for plenty in these conditions against these two attacking batsman.

Question is - why it has to be only Kohli who reacts all the time. At a time when Jasprit Bumrah scoring more runs than him, his antics looks more clownish.

48 runs in 5 overs. Bumrah’s first real examination here as captain. Brings on Thakur, looking to change the pace and catch out one of these English batters.

Stokes dropped again, easy chance.

Then out.

Another hundred on the table for Bairstow here if the others can stay in with him long enough.

This kind of attacking cricket looks good if its paid off but when it dosen't, it looks reckless as in the case with Stokes. Needlessly gave away his wicket

It is a mystery how Lord Thakur takes wickets and that too major ones. He took the wicket of Root in Oval on Final day of the test.

Stokes trying to keep up with Bairstow has finally got him out after several chances. That's very poor batting and captaincy by Stokes. If one guy is going well at the other end just get him on strike why even try to match him when you're in that form?

That is the direction they got from their head coach to go after the bowling attack. It is called Bazball.

Brendon happy with him when he got back onto the balcony. The firmest of decisions has clearly already been made on how they are going to play, so our criticism is essentially noise.

Every ATG team has those players like Thakur. They don't look that great statistically but make crucial contribution to team. These luxury players make vital breakthrough if there's good support.

What a catch by Bumrah

There's nothing wrong with attacking cricket. It's English top order that's garbage. You can't expect Bazball to work with 3 tailenders in top order

The expression of Lady Indian supporter and Stokes on that catch 😂

Siraj is expecting it to take an edge but Bairstow. is in the zone now.

I don't see any result other than a humiliating loss for England. Not even Jonny Bradman can save em.

How is English top order this bad? Even Bangladesh seems better

If just Bairstow carries on they have a good chance, English are super lucky with Root and Bairstow in Immense form.

Why is that lucky? If batters are in good form?

So it was basically Bumrah's wicket.

Valid point. But shouldnt be short of words either. its a fine balance. However, what cringes me about vk is his gesticulations when a batsman gets out when he gestures something or the other, i mean its ok to gee up your own team but donot behave like a sod at the departing batsmen

100/1 added in 1.5 hours, that’s an ok effort from the dire position at start of play tbh.

Kohli was always a clown, just that the genius in him always masked that fact pretty well.

Right.

This is where Tendulkar was better. A great gentleman and an ATG.

Kohli's behavior looks clownish when he is not performing.

I agree. Dont think bangladesh openers will do worse than crawley and lees

Why hasn't Jadeja bowled yet? Need to choke Bairstow with spin.

If england can get buttler and roy to open in place of these tailenders they will become a much better side by following the current tempelate

A Yorker from hell would work Jassi...cmmon. Remember the ball got Bairstow out in Oval test last year

England top order really let them down big time in this match. Had they contributed even little , England would be in a much stronger position right now. How much will one Jonny score single handedly ? Nobody looks like sticking with him for too long.

Don't know why it took Bumrah so long to bring himself on to bring in some sanity.
