What's new

India v New Zealand | 3rd Test | Indore | Oct 8-12, 2016 | Day 1

Thought kohli would shut his haters/critics up. No doubt in my mind he will be a fine test player.

:Kohli has been unusually patient this innings! 2nd innings in Kolkata and this he seems to have finally adapted to our pitches.

Hope I didn't jinx him. New ball taken.

Kohli looks lot more comfortable of the two, but rahane is battling it out well!

Kohli one short of 100

Brilliant century, good job captain!

That's the first hundred of the series

Kohli has been so assured this innings. A very good hundred this.

Uncharacteristically though Rahane has looked very scratchy in comparison. Hope he settles down..

Good batting by India especially Kohli.I think this is the first hundred of the series.

India are eyeing for a big total here. Rahane should look to get his hundred too and then both can eye for big total with Rohit, Ash and co still to come.

India lost all 4 tosses against Australia in 2013 and still blanked them. How the hell can ICC take action against a bloody coin?

It cannot. Because ICC=BCCI. Don't you know the logic? :yk

I am not asking for ICC to take action. Lol.
I meant there should be some alternative to 'coin toss' which could favor the visiting side. After losing the toss, visiting side is 50% out of the game, most of the times.

Well, there is a reason why winning a series away from home is regarded as a tougher deal than winning at home.

Home conditions of one team can be alien conditions to opposition team and if they lose tose there are times when they are 50% out of game.

However, when home team loses toss they aren't 50% out of the game because they know how to tackle the conditions.

You do get much more value for winning series away than at home and rightly so. Isn't it?

Wow, Rahane does all the hard work and Kohli takes the glory  So typical, once you guys find a golden boy there is no turning back from your deluded adulation for the chosen one.

Let away wins be difficult. Don't make it easier by changing rules.

Also, changing basic rules like coin toss will make it difficult to compare performance across years. It is already difficult as it is.

My $0.02.

Have you watched at least 10 overs of today's match? :)

I know you are very good at trolling anything Indian but don't do it blindly.

How am I trolling, just because am a lot more intellectually advanced there is no need for these cheap shots. I have nothing against Indians the same way I have nothing against the teletubies! The fact is you lot overly glorify the chosen one when he isn't on the level of Rahane yet is worshipped like the overrated Sachin.

Valid points on Kohli's innings - especially considering that Rahane was struggling with short ball several times today. Kohli was more solid in that sense

The answer is actually simple. Indians like Kohli mainly because he scored match winning knocks the last 3 times we played Pakistan, with an average of over 100 in both formats (ODI and T20). His knocks also kept the WC streak going.

Hmmm that would partly explain the misguided delusion, scoring some runs against an opponent of Pakistan's quality can add to the Motorway King's messiah perception. Shoaib Malik has a terrific record against India but we rarely highlight that because it's not worth bragging about, he could score runs against them with one arm and a broken leg.

Malik averaged over 100 against India in ODIs and T20s the last 3 games we played and delivered 2 WC victories. Talk about being delusional!

I think the beatings he gave Indians over the years may have also caused their brain cells to be damaged evidently.....given that any normal person would be unable to confirm your post.

Lol ma boy Shazzy is just smashing the Indian trundlers all over the park here :viv

Meanwhile, back in the real world... from Cricinfo "Their first day of Test cricket, nearly 20,000 people came to watch and they couldn't have asked for more. A two-paced pitch made batting not entirely straightforward, but after the odd blip in reading lengths early in his innings, Kohli's feet started moving. His strong bottom hand started piercing gaps. His running between the wickets was electric as usual; helped him secure his 100th run despite a direct hit."

I believe that Kohli has still not attained the level of big three yet but irrespective of that I believe this was a pretty decent knock which has propelled us in this match and in this inning he certainly looked more assured than Rahane

To fellow Indian ppers.... Come on guys, once we used to argue against the legend a.k.a monsy and namak halal who were best in the business.

Now you guys can't even troll any x, y, z pak ppers.... Smh. Our quality has gone down same like Pakistani pace bowling.

Good one brother but I believe it is better to ignore some here that don't get logical arguments who bring their elitist attitude into play when they can't put some compelling statements.

Real life unfortunately leaves only enough time for a few well directed rejoinders, rather than a full blown offensive against the make believe world of dodgy statistics :(

Kohli will be a fine test player. Once he learns how to be more patient.

So true. You should see the look on the faces of Pak players when they walk up to him to shake hands after the match. Seems like paupers coming to collect their doles. :uakmal
