The way things stand at this point, India 267/3 (90.0 ov).

Virat Kohli (103 not out) and Ajinkya Rahane (79 not out) to continue on day two.

Waiting eagerly for start of day today. Players should start fresh, Sunday time will be glued to the TV set :D
 
Hopefully an exciting day of classic test match is in store.
Awaiting the crowd attendance numbers for this Sunday to roll in.
 
Anyone else get the unshakeable feeling that Kohli will hit a triple ton today ?
 
Good to see Rahane with another ton. Out of all currently playing Asians, he may end with with the best career. A long way to go, but rarely a batsman plays so well in so many venues first time itself.
 
Pretty certain this will be an innings defeat.

Expecting us to be 2 or 3 down by stumps.

This team straight up sucks, no need to sugar coat it.

Even Tests against WI will be difficult now, they have much better talent coming through. I wouldn't be surprised to see us fall below them and Bangladesh.

Shows how much NZ were dependent on Baz's aggressive batting and leadership. Williamson is the only quality player in the side and Boult/santner/Ronchi just decent. Latham has been a huge disappointment imo. Not living up to his potential and Taylor is past his best i reckon. Hopefully you'll do better at home against SA and PAK.

Nah we're going to be dominated in those too. A rookie SL should have won a Test here last season... if they can get that close, just imagine what a strong SA and Pakistan side will do.

I really think this NZ side is going to struggle against Bangladesh at home. Other than KW, there is no quality.

McCullum was a world class batsmen over a 2 year period for us.

You should start worrying only when you lose home series, nowadays every team loses or at max draws series abroad.

Not necessarily. Current SA team are quite weak and Pakistan had 1 good series in England. YK and Misbah can't have much left either.

We have no bowling attack and KW for our batting.

Anyway let's see. I'm looking forward to both series. I don't think you will do that badly at home. Only Australia beat you and they generally are strong in those conditions.
 
The Kohli-Rahane partnership is going to be a very productive pair for Indian cricket in the coming years.
 
Had a dream yesterday night that Kohli gets out at 148 i hope he proves it wrong.

I may be a fan, but I'm not going to lie and pretend we have a chance against those teams.

Just hoping we don't embarrass ourselves against Bangladesh. That will be hitting rock bottom.

No offense Bangladeshis, you're a good ODI side nowadays but you've won nothing in Tests.

But will then proceed to bat first after losing the toss yet again.

Is it easier to bat now?

Its not spinning barring the odd ball.

Maybe it could be due to NZ spinners using more overspin instead of side spin...or it could be the pitch.

Pujara got a beauty yesterday but such instances have been few and far between.

And yeah...when you bat good, lots of runs can be scored. I still remembered India and Aus scoring 400 and 500 on a heavy spin Chennai track.

Lol @ bhajji. Seems to know everything except cricket now. Its a good attritional pitch offering returns to batsmen who are willing to dig in. Don't think NZ will be easy to knock over, so a lot of hard work for Indian bowlers in store but hopefully Jaddu and Ash will be much more threatening

Its gonna be hard hard work. Will have to prise out wickets unless Ashwin gets into his zone with a pitch doing a bit more.

The upside is that our number 1 is sealed now cos we can't possibly lose this game.

Don't flatter us.

The ball will be turning square when we eventually bat.

Not because the pitch would have changed, just that there would be better bowlers bowling.

SA series had far more interest.

A weak SA side squashed us in SA, and Australia destroyed us home and away. The same side nearly lost a Test to rookie SL side at home.

The days of us being called decent opposition are gone.

It's too boring. People can blame the pitches all they want but i preferred SA series last year to this. I'm looking forward to England's tour of India and Pakistan's away tours. Should be much more interesting.

Yes but after winning this series India will be number 1 but still no one is showing interest. The quality of the cricket has not been very high from either side except the 1st test.

Kohli's average of 40+ in Tests and 50+ in ODIs & T20s shows the generation's trend! I am sure the stats would have reversed if he had born in Dravid or Gavaskar era!

Anyhow if he still manages to take his Test average to 50+ at the end of his career (without doubt that he will maintain the brilliance in LOIs) he will surely end up ATG Batsman from India beating everyone!

Nothing to do with era.Certain players are just better in ODIs.

Not sure if the pitched has eased out or just these 2 are batting in a different zone, we will come to know when a wicket falls.

Reverse sweep from :kohli hope he's not getting bored now ... Just stay there pal. Santner is getting the odd ball to spin a lot.
 
Neesham should bowl now with an off side field and Henry pitching it short. Only way to pick a wicket or slow runs now.

Bevan was specifically interested in ODIs (even for that era). But you can see Kohli's intent in Test Matches (even in this era). Cases are different!
 
Forget about taking wickets, can't these Kiwi bowlers even keep the runs down? Now how hard is that?
 
Spread the field and bowl a negative nagging line atleast.

200 vs a fairly decent NZ attack.

How NZ has fallen from grace. 2 years ago they were the talk of world cricket with there aggressivness in Tests. Our bowling has gotten really bad since Shane Bond left as bowling coach, he had Henry bowling consistantly 145kph, now he's 130kph, the same with Boult to he would touch 145kph now barely makes 130kph. Bond must of had some good training and theories cos our bowlers were world class with him as coach.
I think for our home Test summer we need to drop southee, Boult, Henry and look for some new blood as they are stale, also it's time to give Milne a go in tests now, if he's not ready now then he never will be.
GUPTIL has to be dropped for good, Nichols need to go, Santner is not a all rounder he should be at no 8 or 9. Bring in anderson with nesham and play them as batsmen cos they cant bowl, NZ need to get out of these bits and pieces players.
Also need to select proper first class batsmen instead of trying to convert ODI players with no techniques (did I mention how bad Guptill is!)

Im making Pakistan as my favourite team now (until Misbah and Younis retire then will go back to NZ).
Looking forward to us smoking WI, hope Misbah scores 2 hundreds in the series

We may as well give some younger blood a chance. Guptill, Nicols, Southee and Henry aren't Test standard.

I've lost a lot of interest in cricket, and am much more interested in wrestling now so no second team for me.

I recommend checking out some NJPW.

Dont lose interest in TEST cricket. I dont follow ODI or 20/20. it took me till I was about 15 to realise that the real game is Tests and the hardest and best format, so why bother watching the lesser formats?

I've lost all interest in ODI's and T20's. I only get to follow NZ Tests, and it usually doesn't make for pretty viewing.

No fun in watching non contests.

I watch until its likely we are gunna lose, also love to watch Kane bat, cos he has a chance to break a lot of records at only 26
