India v Pakistan | 2nd Test | Kolkata | 30/11/07 | Day 1

First session to India but there can still be a fightback. We had the same bowling attack in the first Test and India were reduced to 93/5. As an Indian poster already said, there is SO MUCH TIME left in this Test match.

Come on boys!
 
Indian batsmen are lucky that shoib is not 100% fit and Gul/Asif not playing. Currently Pakistan are playing with there 6th string attack. thats why india were able to score 100 runs in the first session.
 
This wicket is very good for batting the problem i see that if it breaks up on day 3 or 4 them we are batting last.

I think Kumble shouldnt do that. Common, Pakistan has been utterly inconsiderate to the guy. 4 bowlers in the team. 2 of them sick. There is not even a part timer. If Pakistan has to bowl 140 odd overs in this innings which looks a real posibility.. Kaneria can bowl 40, Tanvir another 35.. then sick bowlers have to bowl another 65.. isnt it too bad already?

Our first string attack would be

Zaheer Sreesanth and RP with Kumble and bhajji as spin options..

:)) Exactly ... with all the permutations that P-S has come up with, he might as well have included Razzaq, Saqlain and heck even Wasim to make it the nth string attack (no offence bro. i am just fooling around)... Realistically its the second string ... And its for PCB to be put to blame for over using Gul and Asif (with the T20, counties and everything)

Afridi :)) yea.. 47 wickets 23 tests..sure must be as good as Derek Underwood.

My friend its not a direct comparison :) You need to think how good their replacements are ...

The difference in class between Sreesanth/RP and Munaf is more when compared to the difference in class between Gul and Tanveer ... Especially since Munaf has not played any international cricket for a while whereas Tanveer inspite of making a debut has been in decent form for Pakistan in the ODI's ...
 
In the hindsight it looks rather foolish to play Sohaib. He is clearly struggling. Almost like benefit match bowling.

Man the way Shoaib Akhtar is bowling I really like get rid of whole managment who picked him in playing squad
 
Common why Akhtar is wasting his remaining energy like this.. He better sit in shade rather being a spinner.

Good that he does it now..
 
I don't know how Shoaib got through that over, even with bowling off a couple of paces, I thought he'd collapse any minute.

so we have an 8th string attack. damn selectors why did they not select piyush chawla and agarkar. this attack sucks and we miss rp and sree. lucky pakistan has such an easy indian attack:P
 
Pakistan missed the trick of not playing two spinners. On a flat pitch fast bowlers cannot go on and on. Spinners can bowl long spells.
 
nonsense from pak management .. this guy is an asthmatic who was hospitalized with a chest infection for the past few days .. no way in hell he should be playing !!
 
Tanvir and Sami have a lot of work on their hands here. Akhtar breaking down badly.

I think they wont rest till they injure Tanvir and kaneria too.. so that under19 team can show up as a unit.

Samis avg of 50 runs p/wkt is the worst for any bowler with more then 50 wickets in international test cricket.
 
So Sami is officially the worst bowler in Test cricket with over 50 wickets. What is wrong with our selectors?

Anwar ali and the left armer would definitely have more penetration than Sami :)
 
well done selectors... sami the worst test bowler ever with 50+ wickets ... but its not his fault .. he is an odi bowler not a test bowler !!

Sami should be bowling an off stump/middle stump line, and needs more protection on the leg side. Normally Younis is pretty good, but this is just irrational.

Dravid's head was atleast 2 feet away from stumps lol Kaneria proved once again what a worthless fielder he was.
 
danish trying some different techniques to unsettle the batsmen. throwing the ball at his head, this pitch must be VERY bad to bowl on..

Being match fit should have been criteria number one for selection. Pakistan management are to be blamed if they too unfit players in this game.
 
LOL...look at the fielder @ the boundary ropes...playing with the stuffed toy..that pretty much sums it up..
 
danish kaneria cant be that bad.. he has played 5 more matches (50) then shoaib (45) and taken 200 wickets. he doesnt look threatening yet though.. must be badly out of form

Well you cant expect the guy to be entirely honest and say "Dani, you bowling sh8t mate" everytime :)

jaffer with 70 strike rate...hmmm thats better than each of our batsmen ODI strike rate
 
It is a first day pitch. Obviously getting wickets is not going to be easy that too without your strike bowler. Pakistan should try to dismiss India out and then bat on and on and on and on until 5 days are over..

i think the pitch is going to break up, they were talking about the lack of moisture in the pitch. they did not water it because of the abundance of rainfall in the area previously and now the curator is worried the pitch will be too dry..

expect kumble and perhaps kaneria to do well later in the match
 
Afridi would have been a better choice in these sort of pitches.Any way they are taking gamble with Sami .So Afridi wasn't a bad option .This is very poor selection .

dani has a follow through of a fast bowler...what was he doin in the middle of pitch...should have come right behind the stumps
