Outside off is OK. It hit him in line. Only pitching outside leg can't be given out. Brush up on your rules book mate. :19:

That was a googly... caught him right infront.. Not every type of ball has to pitch on the blue line and hit on the blue line.

So you mean if ball outside off you can't get LBW? That theory, IMO, applies only to leg side not off side!

Important questions are was ball going to hit stumps? When did it hit the pad? Was batsman offering any shot or not?
 
The Indians have truly toyed with us on this tour....Add to that the crowd intensity....Our team has looked like Bangladesh.

It turned from outside off and hit his pads on line with the stumps. I would go with Rudy this time.
 
i can see MYK and MOYO doing a RD/VVSL...i can see them both scoring 480 runs partnership....

u r modertor right..u whine aboout each and every umpire...he was clean plumb... nomatter what happens, some people will always blame the umpire...... first Bucknor, then Hair, then Saheeba, then Doctrove, then Rudi(who actually calls Pakistani player cheaters)... lol for pakistanis fans like u, its always the umpires fault eh

commentators said it was a good decison...people here saying it was good decision, hawk eye said it was plumb(hitting middle of middle stump)..y this whinniing each and every time
 
wouldn't have mattered. faisal is useless. his 20/30 would not have make any difference. this game is lost and will be finished tomorrow.
 
Its been a rule for a century now that if you are too far ahead and unless a ball hits you in the full you dont give it out why dont they show the stride
 
Stride usually comes into play when the ball maybe turning sharply or bouncing high in the event that it may bounce over stumps or spin to the side. It looked like it would have hit leg stump this one.

But anyway if this wasn't given out how many runs would Iqbal had made anyway.
 
Rahul why dont they show the side angle pakistan will loose but lets be fair you are talking about a guys career and living
 
that was plumb boys. can pitch outside off but the leg has to be in line of the wickets. which it was. surprised how so many of u dont know the rules. the more u know the more u owe.
 
Misbha has to understand the dynamics of Test cricket. He is not struggling. But he always puts himself into trouble with weird shot selection.

Guys get over the dismissal.. Peace... Pakistan is racing away. 26 overs 103 runs in this session 4 wickets lost though. 2 bad shots.
 
anronio base on a stride if you are two feet ahead how can you be sure that the ball will hit the stumps, i cant give my defense by asking one again why do they not show the side angle
 
Why can't Misbah come @ 1 down position? He probably can do well to protect one end and rest of the team can play around him!

There is absolutely no rule like that, and has never been. Check the rule book if you don't believe me.

Umpires sometimes don't give them if they have doubts over how much the ball will turn/swing or how high it will end up. Kumble neither turns the ball, neither was the ball going to bounce very high, so it's a straightforward plumb decision. Easy.

bhai, i never said "all"...i only mentioned " pakistan fans like you".... and thanks for confirming that it was plumb... its just that he is the moderator and he shouldnt be talking like this everytime when a pakistani player is lbw out... see PPlanet bhai, Oxy bhai, Saj bhai and Mig bhai,they have good knowledge of cricket and they always give fair opinions which makes Pakpassion the best

we needed centuries from then in the 1st test and what happened. I think we will see a repeat of the 5th day again
 
So much of discussions about LBW rules- here is the excerpt from the MCC site -

1. Out LBW
The striker is out LBW in the circumstances set out below.
(a)The bowler delivers a ball, not being a No ball

and (b) the ball, if it is not intercepted full pitch, pitches in line between wicket and wicket or on the off side of the striker's wicket

and (c) the ball not having previously touched his bat, the striker intercepts the ball, either full pitch or after pitching, with any part of his person

and (d) the point of impact, even if above the level of the bails
either (i) is between wicket and wicket
or (ii) is either between wicket and wicket or outside the line of the off stump, if the striker has made no genuine attempt to play the ball with his bat

and (e) but for the interception, the ball would have hit the wicket.

2. Interception of the ball
(a) In assessing points (c), (d) and (e) in 1 above, only the first interception is to be considered.

(b) In assessing point (e) in 1 above, it is to be assumed that the path of the ball before interception would have continued after interception, irrespective of whether the ball might have pitched subsequently or not.

3. Off side of wicket
The off side of the striker's wicket shall be determined by the striker's stance at the moment the ball comes into play for that delivery.

Add to that his amazing ability to be back in the pavillion just 15-20 minutes after he went out there to bat. Greatness indeed!
 
well so far wickets we lost ...sping didnt' play a big role. I mean this is just poor technique.
Did you guys see how well Wasim Jaffar played Kaneria....actually their batsmen were so good that it looked kaneria so bad. Wasim Jaffar was hitting Kaneria on-drives against the spin for 4s. There are odd balls turning but still pitch is not that bad.

Salman Butt could easily left that ball.
Yassir Hameed he just can't play spin.
Younis Khan.. seriously was that ball to get out?
Mohammad Yousuf just missed a regulation off spin
Faisal Iqbal....I have no words for this guy

Nothing like that, else every batsman will start taking guard bit forward and play with bat and pad as and when required. You don't give not out just on the basis of stride, however if there's doubt- you can give favour to batsman based upon stride!
