Got a feeling that making Rohit Sharma open could be the making of him. Having to face the music with two new balls, in unfamiliar conditions will be a challenge. If he manages to have a good tournament, he can carve himself a role in the team, and gain a lot of confidence from it.

Get the feeling from reading about him though, that it has always been one step forward, them two steps back.

Without steyn , in odis South Africa look to have some ordinary pace bowlers , basically journeymen county type bowlers.

Even morkel is more suited to test and his unique factor is his steeple bounce and bit of pace he can generate with that bounce.

Don't think it really matters - you should pick your best XI and then worry about batting positions.

And anyway, Sachin, Sehwag, Amla etc would all have been considered 'part time openers' when they first started in that role and they didn't turn out too bad.

They were not tried out as openers in a major tournament were they?

Are there any consistent and quality bowling line ups any more? (ODI's)..

Shikhar's playing some crispy shots as well. Its been a pleasure watching these young batsmen.

Somehow feeling calm when Shikhar's on strike! Maybe I'm too hopeful for Rohit! BIG FAN

These English pitches are absolute pancakes, this tourney is going to turn out a bit boring as a result.

If SAF bowlers are played so easily by Indian Openers.... Pakistani bowlers have no chance....

I am waiting for the 15th of June .... its time for revenge of that useless 2-1 series loss....

The record has to be set straight once and for all.....

The later our top order crumbles, the better. Looked tentative up front but seem to be doing okay so far now.

Pakistan have far better bowlers than SA  but if it's on a pitch like this India have to be favorites.

We are bored of this lame excuse.... Pakistani batting is going to collapse on these same wickets.....:afridi

Might be a bit early to call, but 300 is on here.

Lol. Looks like you're still sore about that. The only time India has a chance at beating Pakistan is in a one off match, they don't have the quality to beat the Pak team in a series.

Peterson's on, time to go for a quick tonk or two.

These pitches are no fun, batsmen scoring easy runs... its a straight hit off .. yawn

This Kleinweldt fella' is merely Dernbach mark II.

When Indians bat all pitches become flat....

This is going to be 3rd consecutive 300 posted in England by India....

if yadav dont fire anything is chase able against indian bowling.

Looks a pretty decent batting surface and India have got off to a very good start here.

280-300 should be a target here

Doesn't help that the Saffers are bowling the wrong lengths. You can complain about the pitch all you like but if the bowlers keep bowling the wrong length then regardless of the quality of the pitch they will be hit around like the Saffers are experiencing at the moment.

Kleindvelt looks like a proper Indian trundler, can't believe that he's playing for the Saffers.

Superb batting. I'm loving this, hope SA learn arrogance without the guts to back it up is humiliating after this.

I think Kleinweldt has played against Pakistan in a test, bet they made him look good though.

I feel Mclaren is only going to be the wicket taking option for SA today...
