What's new

INDIA Vs AUSTRALIA - DLF CUP

Symmo's the type of player who needs to get set. The next 5 overs will be crucial for him. If he can get his eye in he'll likely put in a big one.

97/3 off 24 overs.

Mongia comes in to bowl. Will be interesting to see how he does. He has a reputation for stifling run rates in the first class circuit i hear.

Another run out! Martyn goes. 97/4 now.

India seems to have a tight control on things right now.

Aussies will have to start accelerating at some point. But losing wickets frequently doesnt help.

Turning into a bit of a collapse here. Marto goneski.

If Hussey and Haddin can't engineer some kind of recovery, the bowlers are going to have to bowl well.

It's only 25 overs. Wickets are more important. Symmo and Hussey need to play themselves in. Will Hussey be able to do another Superman cameo?

OZgod, I agree. Hussey's innings will be very very important now. Now that Symonds is gone, Haddin will have to do the job as well.

The rest of the team should be buying him drinks for a week if manages to conjure another rescue operation here.

This is amazing. another runout!

Haddin goes, trying for a non-existent second run.

What is going on!!

Sorry not Hussey, Haddin. Another runout. This is full on panic from the OZ.

This from Cricinfo but so true

"Harbhajan Singh to Hussey, 1 run, OUT, Australia are committing hara-kiri! The third run-out! "

With Hussey at the crease thats a huge statement

150's the next realistic target. I doubt we'd get any more than 200 max, assuming we bat out our overs. Just not enough wickets in hand.

Well, Haddin was called back in! It seems Harbhajan didnt have contact with the ball while breaking the stumps.

phew.

Lee and Hogg need to stay at the crease, which they are capable of

Hussey has rescued Australia many times before but how good is he really against spin

not given and rightly so. harbhajan whatta stupid guy. how could u do that. u punk. ez chance missed.

:))
They really dodged a bullet there

What happened there? I'm not watching the game here in Nth America.

(How are Nth Americans watching this game btw?)

Haddin went for a second run, throw back from the deep found him short of the crease, but Harbhajan had the ball off his hands while breaking the stump. It looked as a clear runout in real time, but replays showed what exactly happened.

Good umpiring to spot it and reverse the decision. Haddin was on the way to the pavilion i guess.

Mongia 3-0-6-1
Harbhajan 7-2-13-0.

Keeping it tight for the time being.

As i typed, a boundary off harbhajan. misfield by RP Singh.

Hussey gone! caught by Dravid at slip off Harbhajan.

So much for the dangerman!

We can still win this match. Don't worry.

180+ and I would even put us at favourites.

Huss can't do the rescue every time unfortunately. I can't stay up any longer, 4am here. I'll see whether we managed to get to 150 in the morning...g'night all...

so today australia is we eh? well "we" cannot win this match, infact australia seems headed for one of its lowest totals in ODIs versus India.

and yeah, "we" play spin better than the rest of the world. so slow pitch or not, 150 below is going to be walk in the park.

writing off Australia is like signing a million dollar cheque in the wrong name....completely pointless and a waste of time.

Yep, Australia is 'we' today. If you want to write off Australia by all means do so :19:

I'd at least wait until the 20th over of the 2nd innings to write us off. But it doesn't look good. Pidge and Lee will have to bowl well.

true, but being pragmatic and realistic is wise and hardly a waste of time.

True but who here is being pragmatic and wise?

All I have seen from you is a definite statement that Australia WILL NOT win this match. That is not being wise!

We will see what happens :))

:))) so much for 150

Funny how Plaster Blaster has gone offline when India start getting spanked.

Anyway, 178 for 6!

Haddin not out 39
Hogg not out 27

200+ looking very good.

230 looks more like it now.

This is a good partnership.

India has lost the momentum here.

India will win this easily - plenty of batting on the Indian side + SRT is back in form :)

200 for 7 (45.2 overs)

We need to bat the overs. If we can do that we should get to 240 or so which is a very defendable total.

208 for 8 (47 overs)

Hogg gone. 18 balls left..........we have got the 200 so now is the time to swing the bat and hope for the best.

213 for 9.

12 balls left. Time for Brett to free his arms. Come on Brett!

213 all out.

Well we did a lot better than was expected at one stage and certainly a lot better than the 150 Plaster Man was hoping for. This is not going to be easy for India! Tendu fails and they lose.

This is a difficult pitch and a score of 200+ is quite competetive .

You never know 213 maybe tricky to get!

COME ON YOU AUSSIES!!!

Windies and India managed managed around 150 the other day for me Aussies have scored 40-50 above par. And if Mcgrath and Lee do damage with the new ball it will be tough for India. I think Symonds could do well like Dwayne Smith did with his medium pacers.

"I think Symonds could do well like Dwayne Smith did with his medium pacers."

Only problem is he lacks Smith's pace and aggression.

Some of the Ozzie running between wickets would've put our boys to shame and that's saying something!

As we have seen in other matches perfect length on this s urface wicket to wicket. Always target wicket. You dont need movement or anything. Just pitch it in line like James taylor did. Pitch will take care of the r est. Mcgrath is too good not to notice this behaviour of the pitch.

You are kidding right ? What pace has Smith got ?

It wont be easy for india..good start will be crucial!

if we don loose more than 2 wikts in first 15 ovrs ,we will win comfortably..otherwise it shud be a close match!

wow... just watched the end of the innings and i think dravid made a few errors there! he should have brought on the pace bowlers early and unsettled the batsmen. haddin once again does his team pround and sends out a calling card to a certain adam gilchrist... well done aussie, you scored some 30 odd runs more than i had been counting on.

as for the match, i think by trumping 200, the match has swing back marginally, though it is still in the favor of india. a cautious start is all they require and then it should be easy pickings thereafter. and for the love of all that is holly, do not open with dravid!

curious, is this pitch going to be used for the final too? i think next match india would be well served to go in with two specialist spinners (assuming they win here today, which i hope they do).

true that... infact symonds during his brief stay at the wicket even pointed out a small rough patch some 4 - 6 yards down the pitch where in the event of the delievery pitching, the bounce is unpredictable. i think mcgrath might attempt to exploit that, but it would be a deviation from his usual outside the off stump line...

wonder how the likes of kaif, mongia and raina will fare against mcgrath. i think its going to be top three that would be difference between a comprehensive victory or embarressing loss. go tendu. doubt aussies posted enough runs to accomodate a century for him, but you never know...

Yes Dravid's been going through a bit of a lean patch in ODI's recently, surely he and Sehwag should swap and return to their best positions.

I believe this will be a very close match. India has a longish batting line up, though how many of them will fire is anybody's guess.

With these kind of scores, it is better if Dravid comes at one drop.

With yuvi not playing the middle order looks little inexperienced..Dravid has to bat down at 4 or 5 !

If Indian wanna win this match, they should send Sehwag to open. otherwise if run rate is low at beginning, then India ll b in danger at end

Very very interesting!

Ball brushes Tendulkars shoulder and is caught by the keeper. Half-hearted appeal and Umpire Benson raises the finger. Tendulkar is shocked, and walks to the pavilion. Halfway down, the umpire CALLS HIM BACK. Ponting is livid, Tendulkar is amused and Umpire's decision prevails.
