India vs England | 1st Test | Ahmedabad | 16/11/12 | Day 2

Great knock by Pujara , i feel sorry for Swan because of crazy selection policy of ECB.

I don't know why you're getting defensive? Swann was a class bowler before this test and has here stepped up a gear once again - the evidence and statistics suggest that this is pretty clear cut.

just said that mate...however, it's the first time we're watching Swann bowl so well in India(it's his second visit)! He was and is always a good bowler! But watching him deceive us here looks great!

this pitch is as flat as a pancake. If you play in such roads you will have nothing but draws.

No wonder India produces so many batting talents like pujara

I hope England proves you wrong when they come out to bat!

@Executioner - Since 2000 most of the tests that have been played in India had results (Not sure about the numbers though)

If you want a flat pitch look at your own match...! over 1000 runs in 3 days!!

There are a lot of talented players in this team.

But honestly the only guys with the mental toughness, dedication and straight-up maturity to lead it are Cook, Trott, Prior and Swann. Pick your captain and vice-captain from these and the results would be as good as they could be.

Bell is a nice guy but sadly too weak. And the petulant likes of Broad, Anderson, Finn and KP should keep their noses out altogether.

I'd count Swann as immature.

Which is why all that's left is Trott and Prior.

And Bell is mentally flimsy.

The Indian tail are the worst tail in international cricket, why not just declare already?

giving some momentum to English by gifting them wickets...time to be ruthless

Jimmy has been our best seamer. This is sad.

Finn in for Broad next please. 1 maiden for Broady,2 for Bresnan, 7 for Anderson. If you can't take wickets, atleast keep things tight.

thats why this comment is coming

im just sick of such big scores in the last few weeks. The Aus-SA match, BD-WI match, even the SL-NZ match will probably be played on a pancake pitch

Trying my best to enjoy these test matches, but simply cant. The only thing that has excited me in particular is sehwag and tamim's batting, and swann's top bowling at the beginning of the test match.

This is simply a time wasting tactic from MSD, should have declared the inning by now

Pujara must be tired now and not gonna accelerate besides Ojha generally struggles to make contacts with the ball. Then, Why are we still batting?

Seems like MSD doesn't want the English batsmen to have any of the pitch when its still good!

Declaration!

Let's see what Zaheer & Yadav can get this ball to do.

I hope Yadav is 90mph+ again, I thought he showed some potential when I saw him in Oz, it would be a shame for him to do a Sharma.

Begin with Ashwin, Ojha...would like to see them having use of the ball when it's bouncing :yk

Now the part everyone is waiting for... Please England, don't disappoint us

Ojha opening the bowling (or sharing the attack with zaheer) a real possibility on this pitch

Good captaincy from MS here - men round the bat for the newcomer Compton Mk 3 straight away.

Compton averaged 99 in domestic this year :|

Could be handy to have a righty and a lefty opening as well. Mixes it up.

Mon the lads.

If Ind can get 1 or 2 wickets here before close of play that would be a huge blow for Eng.

Compton is a talent, and I've been rooting for him, but his temperament will be sorely tested here.

He made his runs on the flattest of pitches at Somerset.... but England domestic teams aren't known for producing great spinners. There are a few, Briggs, Kerrigan, etc. But not enough.

Where is my favourite Indian supporter?

RA...

You know lifez good when you got Aussies rooting for ya!

Compton is digging himself into a hole though. Just 7 off nearly 40 deliveries.

Bressie looked really poor in the Indian innings....

Running in all pumped up and bowling in the 70's...

Should be packed off home.....

Cook's wicket is the key here. Somehow need to get him out before he sets himself for big score.

So six overs left in the day. A wicket now would likely mean a nightwatchman and another opening for India
